Should I Spend Donuts on the Prehistoric Era Returning Items?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Time to grab toast as we travel back…wayyyy back…in time with Homer in the all new TTT (Time Travel Toaster) event!  Homer’s taken us back to the Prehistoric Era and we’ve got Dinosaurs, Cavemen & of course other Prehistoric items in our Springfield just tempting us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Giant Snake in a Tree, Old Faithless, Giant Grasshopper, Giant Mushroom or Wooly Mammoth Pen to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding these throwbacks to your town…

Item: Giant Snake in a Tree
Cost:
10 Donuts
Earns:
0.25% bonus on all cash and XP
Previous Post:
Giant snake in a tree
My Opinion On It Now:
Meh.  Bonus % is pretty lousy for donuts spent, I wouldn’t spend 10 donuts on it…

Item: Old Faithless
Cost:
40 Donuts
Earns:
2% bonus on all cash and XP
Previous Post:
Should I Buy
My Opinion On It Now:
Standard bonus % for donuts spent.  Has a fun animation when tapped, I own it and I’m still a fan of it.

Leaves Stores June 8th

Item: Giant Grasshopper
Cost:
35 Donuts
Earns:
.75% bonus on all cash and XP
Previous Post:
Should I Buy
My Opinion On It Now:
Meh.  Lousy bonus % and it’s kind of creepy looking.  Animated when tapped, but unless you’ve got an obsession with bugs I’d pas.

Leaves Stores June 10th

Item: Giant Mushrooms
Cost:
2 Donuts
Earns:
.05% bonus on all cash and XP
Previous Post:
Giant Mushrooms
My Opinion On It Now:
Meh.  It’s a Mushroom and it’s 2 donuts. If you like them, get a few.  (note these are different (they look the same, but their different because these are marked as premium) than the ones you could previously craft.  Those do not have a bonus %)

Leaves Stores June 10th

Item: Wooly Mammoth Pen
Cost:
30 Donuts
Earns:
.5% bonus on all cash and XP
Previous Post:
Should I Buy
My Opinion On It Now:
Wasn’t a big fan then (2015), still not a fan now.  Honestly, I’d pass.

And that wraps up our first returning item Should I Buy Post…

Honestly, none of these items are really worth the donuts.  The best item of the bunch, in my opinion, is Old Faithless.  The rest of the items aren’t worth your donuts.  You’re better off spending donuts in the Mystery Box, the Vault or saving them for something better down the road.

What are your thoughts on this batch of returning premium items?  Will you be spending donuts to bring any of them to your Springfield?  Have you already?  Do you already own any of them?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Really want the old mine but 80 donuts for a 1 out of 6 chance is too long of odds, the other items I don’t care about.
I was away last weekend almost no tapping and 19000 away from Moes Cavern, hope they offer at end if the events for a decent amount as don’t have enough donuts now, I spent some money to catch up but cannot spend more.

Which is exactly what I am doing (saving my Donuts for Egyptian and Pirates related goodies) 😀

  3. earlier I bought a ‘forest cave’ and I’d like to get a second one but I can’t find it again :S
is it a one of? did it disappear? was it all a dream? haha

I had a few already, but wanted more snakes/tree for my “dark” area since I only had 1 & liked them. I bought a couple of the giant shrooooms to go by my “stoned/hippy” corner 😂😂
I agree on the grasshoppers, & really have no idea where they’d fit into my SF 😁 Thanks Alissa!

  5. I am disappointed in EA did not make the original snake and large mushroom premium. But I was happy I had another chance at getting Old Faithless,i ever since I passed on it I regretted it.

I bought one Giant Mushroom and am happy with it. I had a little spot that I had been saving for something cool outside one of my stores. I wish something happened when you tapped it though… I like the affordable price it has

  7. Hello everybody
I already have Giant Snake in a Tree, Old Faithless is interesting but I pass, and Leaves Stores is not very beautiful.

  8. I bought the giant snake in the tree on a whim – biggest mistake! The animation isn’t even fun 🙁

  9. Again 40 donuts for 2% is not the norm. It is actually about as good as it gets. If it were the norm it wouldn’t be 1 out 5 items on this post. Literally nothing from this event except Old Faithless has worked out to that math. Waterslide Tree, Prehistoric Jungle, Acid pool, Raptor, The returning Old West Time Capsule stuff.

And we wouldn’t get excited when we saw something that gave out better than 2/40 with a “buy it for 30 donuts to get 2%” advice. That would just be slightly better than average which it’s not…it’s exceptional.

    • I don’t get excited over 40 for 2%, it’s pretty typically the standard. Anything less than that percentage I say don’t buy..anything more I say get. I don’t know what it needs to be a big federal case over it..

  10. I bought Old Faithless. It remembers me of the hking holiday on Iceland. I saw Geysir and Stokkur erupt at the same time, which is deemed to be very unusual.

    • I passed on it before and later regretted it, seeing it in neighbors towns. I’m glad I had another chance- my National Park section of Springfield is really growing with this event.

  11. Ugh, my Time Capsule just restocked itself with exactly the same crap that I didn’t want yesterday.

  12. Just a note…followed the instructions to stop the misdirects…worked for one day and now they are back. Am going to change my “search” to something other than Google till this is solved…if enough people stop using them, maybe they will address this problem (which seems to have originated with them).

    • It’s so infuriating. I’m really sorry about it all..

      • Thanks, but not your fault, or WordPress even. If Google is aware of the problem and chooses to ignore it ( I can’t believe that, after 2 weeks, they couldn’t have solved the problem if they chose to), I will choose to use another search engine for a while…no biggy.

      • Thanks, but not your fault or even WordPress. I can’t believe that, after 2 weeks, Google could not have solved this problem if they chose to. Since they don’t seem interested in fixing this glitch, I will choose to use another search engine…no biggie. When their sponsors (ads) see a decline in viewers, perhaps that will pressure them to fix the bug. I urge other tappers to remove their Google and Chrome apps until this is fixed. I have done the following on my iPad in the hopes that it will remove the bug and keep it out:

Delete all affected apps…Google, Chrome, Firefox (Safari will stay)
        Turn on Airline mode.
Go into Settings and choose Safari.
Change the search engine to anything other than Google(I chose Yahoo).
        Block cookies.
        Clear the History.
Do a hard close (this should clear the cache)…hold the “on button” (on the side) down till it asks you to swipe.
Re-open – hold the same button down till the “apple” appears.
        Choose settings again.
        Close Airline mode.
You can reload Firefox if you choose, but do not reload Google or Chrome…they seem to be the source of the infection.

Not sure if enabling cookies again will be a problem…if a site you are visiting is infected, it may be able to re-infect thru cookies. I am leaving mine blocked for now, but it means I have to fill out all the forms I encounter each time…worth it to me, but use your own judgement.

Hope this helps all you IOS users (sorry, I don’t have Android experience..hopefully some smart tapper will provide help).

I encourage you all to pass along the Google Products Boycott to your friends and followers until they fix the “forced redirect” bug.

        • I’ve noticed it happening on some other sites I visit as well..usually start with these weird popups at the bottom of the screen….but yes, definitely an ongoing issue.

        • I use Safari and it’s happening to me 🤔

  13. I have all of them some don’t really excite me too much. Are you going to have the posts where you break down each prize for this event and what happens when you unlock each prize?

  14. First 🙂
Thank you Alissa for all of your wonderful work for me (us)!
Second, I did get the Snake in the treee, cause it was a snake, but for prehistoric it would have been nice if it was larger. Okay with it.

Otherwise, I agree on the rest of the items, meh, easy passers. I had read your post about Old Faithless & my wife and I both snagged one, and love it, so more prais and thanks to you!

One note, I wish EA had applied some of the giant scaling to a bunch of the other items in the prehistoric era that the used for that grasshopper. So many items seem too small for the era, IMO.

  15. I do have all this from previous events, but I don’t think I would spend donuts on them now. Mushrooms and snake were freemium before; the snake was kind of fun for a bit, but the big mushrooms are not really useful, they don’t fit in. I actually prefer the small ones.
The geysir goes well with all the parks/caves/mountains I collected over time. Makes a nice little “National Park” area. The grasshopper sits in a forest, largely ignored. The Mammoth pen I bought together with the others from Moe’s petting zoo, and together I like them, but just the pen alone? Doesn’t make much sense in my opinion.

  16. None of the returning items excite me.

TIFU by wanting to use Quimby to make stuff at the rail yard and he was on a 24 hour task. So I put away Quimby (and the courthouse), forgetting I had Cecil on a $10M 8 hr. Task there.

When I saw Cecil walking around I realized I flushed $10M down the toilet.

I only have about $75M left so this may stop me from getting the final thing? Anyone know how much that costs?

    • The last one is 80 Million. I stopped after the Mansion Gardens for now. Not sure I want to spent that much cash before I know what it is/does.

    • If I recall correctly it was 20m, 40m, 80m. The one with ???, hasn’t been added yet.

    • The third task is $80M but there are going to be more tasks that are probably $100M+. I can barely afford the first task at $20M so I’m in no rush…

  17. Agree. Old Faithless is the best with great animation. I love to tap it when I see it in my neighbors towns. But will pass as i am need to maintain my desired level of donuts. Mmmm donuts.
