Time Travel Toaster Prize Guide: Prehistoric Era, Prize 4 Darwin Fish

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Hang onto your toasters my friends because we’re going flying through space and time!  The latest event in TSTO has us going wayyy back in time to when Dinosaurs roamed the earth, Pharaohs were building pyramids & Pirates hobbled around on their peg legs!

This Event is broken up into 3 Eras, with each Era containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the first Era, Prehistoric, you’re tasked with collecting Fossils () to unlock each prize!

The fourth Prehistoric Era Prize awarded at 39,500 is the Darwin Fish, because sometimes a fish is just a fish, especially when it’s out of water…

So let’s take a closer look at this fourth prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…

Once you’ve collected 39,500 you’ll automatically be awarded the Darwin Fish and you’ll see this message popup:

And you’ll have the option to place the fish in your Springfield or store it in your inventory for later.  Remember if you store it you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it (and you won’t get Tachyon credit until you’ve placed it)

Once placed you’ll see his character unlock message popup:

And he’s part of the Prehistorians Character Collection:

The Darwin Fish is an NPC (Non-Playable Character), but it does come with a little bit of dialogue, and a little task when placed:

Darwin Fish

Lisa: Look at this!  A transitional species!  Further proof that evolution is real!
Flanders: OR, a clever ruse concocted by the great Intelligent Designer upstairs, to test our faith in his Divine Creation!
Lisa: Gets harder and harder to cling to that line of reasoning all the time, don’t it chief?
Flanders: You have no idea!
Tap Darwin Fish

And you’ll see his little animation when tapped..

And that’s it.  Again it’s an NPC, so no tasks associated with it.

It does however payout 730  when placed.

And there you have it, the details behind the Darwin Fish, the fourth Prehistoric Prize!

What’s Next?

Technically 1,000 Specimens is next, at 47, 100 , but it’s not a tangible prize for Springfield, just additional crafting currency.  So the next prize we’ll cover is…

Dinosaur Lake- Awarded at 60,800.  This will be the next prize we break down in the prize guide post.

What are your thoughts on the Darwin Fish? Safe to assume you’ve unlocked it by now?  Are you letting him roam around your Springfield or have you stored him away?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Darwin Fish
    another NPC (Non-Playable Character)
    whatever, EA
(is it even worth collecting all from the Prehistorians Character Collection? You’re not rewarded with Bonuts!) 🤔

  2. A squish fish … think this was the inspiration for Katy Perry’s newest song 😛

  3. Easter Egg or oops? Place the fish, receive the Tachyon credit. Then put the fish into storage, and immediately replace in your Springfield, receive more Tachyon credits. Repeat as desired. I was able to do this and get my Panini build task completed.

    • I thought that was patched a few days ago, no? (I’ve already shut down my game, or I’d double check.)

    • Not working in my game, checked yesterday.

    • Didn’t see the patch, not like I haven’t seen many as I don’t always pay attention signing on. Glad I got in before the fix. Thanks all for the update.

  4. I like the Darwin fish, but it would be cool if he could emerge from the water and walk on the beach and on into town. 😉

  5. I’ve been playing as consistently as I have in previous events and I’m now about 2 days worth of fossils behind where I should be according to the calendar. I’m very discouraged. I visit my neighbors, tap as many dinos that I can find and tap the ball whenever it comes up to clear the dinos. I’m also having terrible luck digging up the rocks for the prizes. It’s not fun when I can’t even win more shovels and can only buy them.

    • I am with you!!! I have been playing for years (at level 175) and never felt this at behind in any of the quests. We have less than 2 days and I am about 1/2 to the Dinosaur Lake. I am very annoyed with this part of the quest ad hope that EA will remedy this in Act 2.

The excavation site is a PITA too. I doubt I will get the baby dinosaur. I just dropped donuts on more shovels and got 2 flipping gems out of it (I even tried to follow the suggested patterns).

I visit friends (never spray paint) and play when I can every day and I am coming up way too short in this Act!!!!

  6. This fish is nice ! Pity that it is a npc

  7. Generallylost

This may be the event that causes me to uninstall. Thousands of Fossils behind on the primary track, an unfun RNG-based secondary track, and the BRILLIANT decision by EA to throttle drops.

Thank you Alissa 😊 start rant… WTH EA? Why are a lot (most) of the new NPC’s so stinking small???? I’m especially po’d about the ones I’ve spent donuts on! The NPCs for this event could have been SO cool if they weren’t so small!… end rant. Still loving this interesting event 😊

  9. Love it! ♡

  10. I like him, makes me smile 😊

  11. has anyone posted the “calendar” for this event. im so lost. uggh.

  12. Stealing a reminder from Ella…if you are going to hold off on a couple of “daily tasks” until the event currency changes, today is the day to start.

  13. Now that I have the baby T Rex , should I just store my shovels for the next act?

    • justinmwat151

If you have Caveman Moe already, I would say yes

    • If you have all the prizes for Act 1 (including Moe’s cave)and you are ok with your Panini level (at least at level 12, that is over halfway)…I would save shovels (and daily tasks) till the next Act.
I started saving shovels yesterday….am still tapping everything else, doing visits and collecting shovels…just not excavating or doing daily tasks till Act 2 starts. Your call…just my opinion.

  14. Love the fish, just wish all the NPCs weren’t so small (sans Raptor). I’ve decided to give a new species name to my Homersaurus…he is now Amuse-Bouche 😁.

  15. I got this literally 5minutes ago because I’m 4 days behind ;(

  16. Caveman Moe’s has a build time? 4hrs Or is it because I was doing friend visits and I had to pull it from inventory? Either way thats kind of a slap in the face, here you earned this but you have to wait for it. And 8250 for Bonuts?

  17. I wish, I wish, I hadn’t killed that fish.

  18. Quick question, if you use donuts to get the next prize, does you fossil count also grow? For instance, if I pay for the dinosaur lake will my fossil count go up to 60,800 as well? Thanks!!

    • Iirc it is usually like that. Paying with donuts fills up the required currency, there is even the animation with the currency being added. So if you pay for the dinosaur lake, you can start earning for the last prize caveman Moe.

Personally I am usually waiting until the act actually ends and pay with donuts then, if it is something I really want and it is worth the donuts needed. Of course I don’t know about your circumstances, so for paying with donuts to speed up now may be beneficial in your situation.
