Time Travel Toaster Prize Guide: Prehistoric Era, Prize 6 Dinosaur Lake

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Hang onto your toasters my friends because we’re going flying through space and time!  The latest event in TSTO has us going wayyy back in time to when Dinosaurs roamed the earth, Pharaohs were building pyramids & Pirates hobbled around on their peg legs!

This Event is broken up into 3 Eras, with each Era containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the first Era, Prehistoric, you’re tasked with collecting Fossils () to unlock each prize!

The sixth Prehistoric Era Prize awarded at 60,800 is the Dinosaur Lake, because mmm brontosaurus burgers…

So let’s take a closer look at this sixth prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…

Once you’ve collected 60,800 you’ll automatically be awarded the lake and you’ll see this message popup:

And you’ll have the option to place the Dinosaur Lake in your Springfield or store it in your inventory for later.  Remember if you store it you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it (and you won’t get Tachyon credit until you’ve placed it)

It does come with a little bit of dialogue when placed:

Homer: Look, it’s Nessie!
Lisa: Dad, that’s a brontosaurus: a genus of the sauropoda.  And don’t say “mmm…brontosaurs burgers…”
Homer: I wasn’t even gonna!

That’s it.  Just place and move on…

And here are the quick details:

Size: 10×13
Tachyons When Placed: 973  (Remember you have to PLACE it in your Springfield to get the Tachyon credit.  You won’t get credit if you store it in your Inventory and never place it…after placed and Tachyons are paid out you can store it without consequence)
Earns: Nada for now.  Just a decoration..but who knows.  I’m sure one day EA will bring it back as a premium item and throw a bonus % on it…
Conform-O-Meter:
Tree-Hugging +100
Other Info: Can be placed on the grass/beach/dirt
Animation: Animated when tapped, Brontosaurs dips his head in the water for a drink

And there you have it, the details behind the Dinosaur Lake, the sixth Prehistoric Prize

What’s Next?

Moe’s Cavern (and Caveman Moe..NOT a skin, full character)- Awarded at 79,900.  This will be the next prize we break down in the prize guide post.

What are your thoughts on Dinosaur Lake? Have you unlocked it yet? Where have you placed it in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Josephine Kick@$$

This is one of my favorite prizes, the animation makes me smile 😊

  2. All that’s missing is the flume ride boats (yeah, where’s my Jurrasic Park Ride? We need one in Krustyland) 😅

  3. I feel like some events like Secret Agents had too many premium characters that got event currency so many of us finished days before the end. This one only had two – and they are two characters i do not plan on purchasing. As a result I probably will not get Moe’s Cavern despite logging in every four hours. Not too disappointed but still feels like EA over corrected this event.

  4. I unlocked Lake Dinosaur yesterday and I placed it next to a river

  5. Is it just me, or is it a lot harder to unlock each item for this event? I play the same amount every day and usually I have two days left each time after getting all of the unlocks. I’m still 4,000 away from The Lake! Did EA elevate the difficulty levels to encourage more spending on donuts?

    • I think it’s just you. I finished the “prize” lines a long time ago. In fact- I would say that this is one of the easiest events I can remember.

      • I’ve seen people saying that, but this is the first time in four years of playing this game that I won’t get all the prizes. I just don’t get it. I see a lot of people having the same complaint as I have.

        • I won;t get them all either…but know where I “failed.” I’ve actually had a pretty full life this past couple of weeks, and can’t log on every 4 hours. Oh well…Not sure I want most of this stuff in my town. It is so NOT my “real Springfield.” I almost wish EA would allow us to have a place like Krustyland…that is just for all of the silly, non-cannon stuff that they are adding lately. Yes. I know it was based on an episode. But, please tell me where in the heck a Brontosaurus is sitting in any rendition of the town of Springfield???

          Rant over.

          • My head canon is that it’s an animatronic display somewhere. It’s currently by my tar pits, but could also go with a few of the museums, or the film studios, and maybe the mini golf course. I’ve used the film studios and mini golf course to fit a multitude of weird stuff into my town.

          • The best idea I’ve seen is using it all as displays behind the Natural History Museum…one of my neighbors did a great job with the back area fenced in (like the Pin Pals) and all the “displays” roped off with paths running between them. For my town ..all the critters go to a new and improved Moe’s Zoo.

        • I’m in the same boat as you Troy and it seems most other players are as well. I find it annoying when people who play day and night and spend a lot of donuts to get through the prizes 4-5 days early telling us how easy it was and it is just us few having trouble. If you read through the comments it’s seem most players are having the same trouble we are.

        • Ditto here. I can’t remember how long I’ve been playing (but I have the Mapple Store, so probably 4-5 years), and will be close… but probably won’t score Moe’s Cavern.

Whereas nearly every other event, I’ll get 4-5 rounds of bonuts, minimum.

      • Check the comments again sillyboy. There’s more players than ever saying they are nowhere near finished the prizes. This is the first event in years I won’t get the last prize. Only a small handful of hardcore players like yourself are saying it was easy.

      • Not that easy for what I call the ” average player “. I finished last night but did buy Boobs 3 or 4 days into the event.
I think EA have got it just about right, with those playing with only freemium characters & 4 times a day gaining most if not all of the prizes.

      • Um no. I play often and I am also afraid I won’t get everything.

    • I think it is much harder. First time I won’t get everything as I haven’t even got the lake yet and its touch and go for the last successful excavations prize too. But I haven’t been bothered to look for dinosaurs across a massive Springfield very often which is probably why!

    • Always a hard road without the premiums bringing in extra currency. My buying advice is simple…characters, characters, characters.
If you can save up 100 donuts (not an easy task without KEMs) and hold on to them till an event starts, you will be able to pick up the character(s) that help bring in currency. Without them, tapping will definitely be a chore and finishing the prize track will take at least 4 times tapping per day. Wish I could offer an “insider’s short-cut”, but there just isn’t one.

    • It’s not just you. I help my son play his account and don’t think he’ll get caveman moe. He can only earn 10 shovels at a time and some days doesn’t tap every 4 hours 4-5 times in a day. Clearing the dinosaurs is key and if you don’t clear them often enough, you’ll fall behind quickly. His account doesn’t have the donuts to spend for items that would help, so it is harder for his account than mine with more premium items and characters helping.

    • I was wondering the same thing troy. I log in 3 or 4 times a day and I’m a ways off from the dino lake.

  6. Lake is one of my favorite prizes for this event. The scale of lake and brontosaurus are very well scaled. Love!

Moe’s Cavern is also really nice!
    Both IMO

    And as always,
Thank you Alissa for all the fabulous work you do here!!!

  7. Just got Caveman Moe. Did the math, with my tapping pattern had to buy the gravedigger to make it happen. Homer lizard is such a disappointment-also just got it. It’s very challenging to find it in my town, it’s miniscule🦎makes this guy look like Godzilla. Liking this event but would like to see better crafting awards. Good to see Patric here. Thank you to all of you for the fantastic job you do connecting the tapping community and keeping us informed!

  8. Hm, so others are having problems with this event, too… I set timers to collect shovels ever 4 hours and got Baby T-Rex yesterday, but I still need 9k to get Caveman Moe. Might just as well give up and save the shovels for Act 2, I guess… reducing the rewards was a bad move and punishing the wrong ones for sure.

    • I’m hoping EA will be aware and make adjustments for Act 2 and beyond. Don’t understand why they made the adjustment to make it so hard. It will discourage many. 😕

  9. My husband just got the dinosaur lake today – what’s his chances of getting caveman Moe before the act ends?

  10. Like so many others, I am way behind in my Freemium B-game for act 1. Don’t think I can make 20k fossils in the 2 remaining days. Sad thing is, this looked actually quite doable – until EA reduced the payout across the board. Shame on EA for changing the rules mid-act!

  11. I am flying through this event. Finished the excavation prizes five days ago and I got Moe’s cavern with caveman Moe (he’s a completely new playable character, but unfortunately he is voiced like Moe, so no caveman grunts etc….) three days ago. On a tangential note: I was able to craft the camel for a whopping 10.000 currency. And what a disappointment it is. Considering the hefty price tag, I was expexting it to move around, like an npc, but it just stands there. Very little animation going on, even when tapped. Similar to the “horse/cow” things from the superheroes 2 event but those were more reasonably priced IMO. So if you’re stuggling with crafting, it may be worth skipping it, and crafting other items that you like instead. I’m a bit worried that the level 10 craftable, the Bart Sphinx, is gonna be tiny as well…

    • The Bart Sphinx is 4 by 7, same footprint as a Kwik-E-Mart. Not huge but not tiny. No payout or bonus or animation that I can see, but I like how it looks.

  12. there is no way I am making caveman Moe. I tap constantly and this is the farthest off I have been in finishing an event. How are some people days ahead? I have been on the lake before moe for like 1 1/2 days and will just be able to get that.

  13. Maddiethecool101

Agree with others. Usually we are a 1 or 2 days ahead of the calendar, earning a Bonut round or two. This event we may just earn the Baby T Rex (having used donuts to rush the “earn shovel jobs”) and Moe’s Cavern on the last day. Now that it’s summer, all of us (mom & kids) tapping and still slow progress. That said, we really like the theme of this event! Very cute.

  14. junkfoodbetty

I just realized there’s a little under two days to go and I’m still working on the Dinosaur Lake (at 58200). Man, what happened? I’ve been doing my best to get shovels 4x/day (can’t always swing it) and using optimal digging practices (thank you SO much, Alissa) after a few big goofs early on. How am I so far behind?

  15. Definite agreement with other commenters – this is the first time since EA started doing events in this way that I’ve been so off the mark for getting the last prize despite the usual 4 hour check ins etc. Very odd! Sad that I’m missing out on a playable character…

  16. Definite agreement with other commenters – this is the first time since EA started doing events in this way that I’ve been so off the mark for getting the last prize despite the usual 4 hour check ins etc. Very odd! Hoping that it’s just a skin for Moe and not an actual playable character…

  17. I wish my Heights beach wasn’t so crowded, because this looks nice there. Have to store my Clamphitheater to place it there, though, and I’m not replacing a payout with a deco. So it’s with the other stuff by the tar pits, and may or may not stay there.

    • Do you really need the payout from the Clamphitheater? I used to feel the same way – payout items took priority – until I looked at how much money I had just sitting unused(and more coming in everyday). I kinda rethought my priorities at that point, and started using what I liked rather than what brought in the most money. To my surprise, my income barely changed ( most of my income comes from my characters)…and since new income items are always being added, I have more than recouped the loss on those stored items.
When I need to make some quick donuts (farming), I may pull out a bunch of temporary buildings to a storage area for a few days to boost my income…after my donut goal is reached, tho, back into storage they go.

  18. I just got Moe and the baby t-rex, yay!
Now to horde the shovels until act 2 😉

  19. This is a really nice decoration. Together with the in-game cactus-rocks and craftable decorations, I have started to create a nice, rough prehistoric area.

Got the baby T-Rex yesterday evening and am about 7,000 fossils away from Caveman Moe, so I expect to greet him by tomorrow. Glad I will be able to get him, as I was on vacation at the beginning of the event and didn’t log in very often during the first days.

The little bug from the Darwin Fish obviously helped, since I can clear all walking dinos every 6s and it boosted the currency from the excavation site. I’ll therefore refrain from comments about the balance of the event, since I guess the majority of players weren’t able to take advantage of the bug before it got patched.

  20. I will get this today. This seems to be tough nowadays to get all the prizes (especially in the first act). I have to use some donuts to get Moe the Caveman 🙁
I can log in three times a day in weekdays, and four times a day in weekends. Bought also Boobarella.

  21. I’m on target for the final prize about a day ahead… but that was doing it almost every 4 hour

    • This is going to be touch and go for me. I play every day 4 times a day, but I think I will only just get Moe by the skin of my teeth. Surprised that EA have made this one so hard. Equally I’m seeing a lot of my neighbours on well over 100,000 fossils. What are they doing that I’m not (presumably they got cave Booberalla, but does she really make that much of a difference?)

      • I thought this event was too easy… 🙀 Got the baby t-rex five days ago and Moe’s cavern 3 days ago. I have all the premium earners and I usually log in five times a day (first thing I do when I wake up, last thing I do before I go to sleep). Not sure why it makes such a big difference… 🤔

        • It makes all the difference. My A&B farmium Springfields have all the quests finished three days ago. The other freemium games will not get the lake with the brontosaurus.

      • Having Boobarella and Willie adds 28 shovels a day…around 3 (maybe 4) extra excavations a day. That’s 30 to 40 extra excavations in Act 1…and it’s how people are finishing early.

  22. I placed it behind the 40 million dollar dam. Looks great! But don’t have much of a design to my town, so just the 2 of these decorations off by themselves. Still…

  23. Wish I could craft more of these

  24. I love this one. My 3 year old does too. Encouraged him to lightly tap and see the motion. Can you believe we were doing that for almost 5 min? Tap and giggle. Repeat.

  25. Screw this game. Playing every day like normal and only just getting Darwin Fish and only 14/16 towards Dragonfly Rock. I was maybe a day late updating but this is ridiculous. So many times it takes me almost to last rock to find the buried gem. Glad I didn’t pay for extra shovels.

    • Are you using a method to find gems or randomly clicking? Check out previous posts on this website for the best methods to find gems it really helps

  26. All those prehistoric items give me fond memories of The Flintstones.
    “Wilma, open the door, WILMAAAAAAAAAAAA!”

  27. I know it’s just a decoration, but I really like it. It’s interesting.

  28. This and the Historical Society house are my two favorites so far…both will fit nicely into my town after the event. Bronto Boy is destined to star in a massive Moe’s Zoo expansion😀.

  29. as of 3pm PST, i have 57900 fossils. is it just me, or anyone else wayyy behind like me? do i have a legitimate chance of reaching 79,900 and getting caveman moe before prehistoric (act 1) ends?

    • Frank opinion is there’s about 2 days to go and quite unlikely you can earn 20k of currency. I average about 4k to 5k per day. But that doesn’t mean you should give up. Because the more currency you have towards the last prize, the less donuts you need to fork out to get it if you really want the prize.
      Keep up the grind!

    • Just got C. Moe today – wasn’t too bad at all

    • I’m like you. I’m gringing away, I’m on at least 4x a day and feel like I’m 1-2 days behind. I have no idea how. I’ve generally gotten the prize tracks with 2 days to spare.
      Weird.

    • I have averaged almost 10k fossils per day and have all the rewards as of yesterday, even after being one day behind. What is your shovel strategy? I took Booberella to help me, so I get 14 shovels every 4 hours, and use the pattern from one of the previous posts to clear the field in as few shovels as possible. I clear (almost) all dinosaurs when I visit the game at least every 4 hours, since my panini press has had a longer reload time than max spawn of dinos. Also visited all my 19 neighbors every day. I see a lot of my neighbors are doing strange things with their shovels, really avoiding the Ancient Gem when they know where it is? Is there a benefit to this?

      • There are theories that avoiding the gem will pay out more crafting currency (specimens) in the long run, though I’m noticing the crafting returns are quite random. I’m still going for the gems in as few moves as possible.
