Should I Spend Donuts on Pharaoh Throne & Pharaoh Skinner?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Time to grab toast as we travel back…wayyyy back…in time with Homer in the all new TTT (Time Travel Toaster) event!  We’ve flashed forward from the land of Dinos to the era of pyramids, Pharaohs and Sphinxes…and of course we’ve got loads of Egyptian Era items in our Springfield just temping us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Pharaoh Throne & Pharaoh Skinner to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this dictator to your town…

Pros
-4hr task to earn shovels, earns 4 shovels…the most you can earn (only Cavegirl Booberella earns as much)
-Earns Tacyons when placed (for leveling up Panini Press)
-Funny visual tasks

Cons
-150 donuts is WAY over priced for a skin and decoration (that only offers a 2.25% bonus)

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
I know some premium players will be outraged when I say this, but DO NOT BUY THIS.  Pass.  Premium or freemium.  The price is nuts for a skin and decoration that only offers a 2.25% bonus.  Way over priced.  Pass.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can tell you I’m passing.  I’ll spend donuts on some crazy stuff, but I draw the line at 150 donuts for a costume..not even a canon custom at that.   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before he leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at his tasks…

Pharaoh Skinner’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Promote Mummification 1hr $105, 26xp Springfield General
Do the Scarab 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual

  1. I would get the skin if he has a task that does what he does on the splash screen… Alas, he doesn’t so it’s a pass…

  2. I confess I *would* have bought him, but I can’t buy anything anymore, for some reason. Evey time I ty to buy new donuts, it says “thre is no purchase to be restored.” What gives? 🙁 I’d like to benefit from the Medieval Mystery Box while it’s there!

  3. Bring out the cruel whip!

  4. I was second guessing my decision not to buy (I blame MAB), but this post gave me the courage to stay strong. 😉 Thanks, Alissa!

  5. I bought him and love him😍…the only premium skin for Skinner used to be Stonecutters, and there were no 4hr or 12 hr visual tasks (the two I use most everyday). Now I will have him “Act like an Egyptian” every night 👍😁.

Stonecutters Skinner is not premium. Only his tasks placed at premium building pays premium. His 4hrs task is not premium.

      • Skinner’s stone cutter’s outfit is premium. All the stone cutters are now premium since they came back into the store maybe about a year ago. I always have Skinner in his stone cutters skin because it is premium.

  6. Like Caveman Moe, I am bewildered why Pharaoh Skinner is not a new character, but a new skin (pun intended). Pity about the donut price. His tasks look hilarious!

  7. I bought it the first day. Thinking about buying the whale in my vault this week. I’ll put money in a 401K next year.

  8. If you’re looking for 2.25% bonus on cash and XP I’m sure there’s cheaper options to buy. When I first saw this it was an instant pass. 150 doughnuts is ridiculous for any charaters skin. EA should have offered a pyramid with this offer.

  9. Does anyone have the Springfield Dam? I just got it from the road to riches challenge and I can’t seem to place it anywhere. If you do have it, where did you place it? Thanks!

  10. If this came with a building instead of a tiny chair, it still wouldn’t be worth 150.

  11. Expensive skins I rarely buy for obvious reasons, but this one …. I just had to have it! If it wasn’t for the fact that I love all things ancient Egypt I wouldn’t have bought it (though his tasks are pretty funny).

  12. Bought it. Like the cat on the lap animation

  13. So sick of overpriced skins… 🙁

Perhaps thEAy will put it on sale at some point in the future so I will wait until then!

  14. I am beginning to believe the EA wants us to KEM farm. Maybe they get a secret reward from all the users tapping all the time (like the Dark Mirror episode with everyone riding bikes to generate energy). Seriously, 150 for a high level KEM farmer is nothing, and maybe generates envy from neighbors who pay cash for everything.

I personally like the animation that goes with it. Plus it helps with the crafting.

    • They probably assume that people who have been playing for 2-3 or more years are probably going to KEM farm or at least make donuts by buying bloodmobiles. Once you’ve been playing for a while you’re going to start getting a lot of money that you have nothing left to spend on so why not spend it getting donuts? Although this is why they probably came out with the Road to Riches tasks. It gives long term players something to spend their Springfield money on other than getting donuts.

    • Agreed. And I think you mean Black Mirror. (Yes, I’m annoying.)

  15. Pass. The character combos in the vault are more appealing 🙂

  16. I bought it. I liked the tasks.

  17. Jeremiah Jones-Goldstein

I know I should have passed, but I go it in my head on Sunday that I wanted it so I saved my farmed donuts and bought it. Once the activation sequence was started there was no turning back. Thanks for the write up, very much appreciated, as always. .

  18. My thoughts about this offer cannot be expressed in words appropriate for a nice, family friendly place like TSTOAddicts.

I will say one positive thing though: I like cats and I see a cat there on his lap.

  19. Walking like an Egyptian far far away from this.
Even though I like the look of it. 😉

  20. I got it, 4 extra shovels every 4 hours is a huge help to the prize track.

EA have seemed to put the price up the last few events…

1:30am, awoke, “Cool. I’ve been waiting for this.”
Instant purchase and back to sleep.
8:00am, awoke. “ONE HUNDRED FIFTY! For a SKIN!”
Remind me to wait until the sun is up before I select BUY.
At last it has a bonus and Event Helps and is Premium and Skinner is ‘ripped’, and has a cool looking 4 hour task, and …..

  22. Oops. I bought it without reading the fine print, thinking it was a character. In my defence it was 2 am and act 2 had just started…. I guess I AM addicted!

  23. No way! I balk at paying 150 donuts for a character/building combo, but 150 for a “skin” and decoration (even with 2.25%)? EA has been smoking the reefer with premium items on this event (80 donuts for screamapiller?!!) They went awesome on the vault and ridiculous on the event.

  24. 150 donuts for a costume and a small decoration …
    I passed !

  25. It’s definitely not worth the donuts. But yes, I bought it anyway. 😬

  26. This is a hard pass for me. But for some perspective on his event contribution:

Pharaoh Skinner will add 352 to 424 papyri to each 4-hour cycle (depending on your panini press level). It is a significant boost. This act will require 4 visits a day with the 50% panini press boost for a freemium player to successfully complete the prize track. A lower panini press level requires visits above the 4 times a day commitment – base level needs 7 additional visits, 10% boost needs 5 additional visits, 20% boost needs 4 additional visits, 30% boost needs 3 additional visits, and 40% boost needs 2 additional visits. If you can’t commit to this schedule you’ll need daily challenges or premium items to finish the prize track. But even then I’d buy Gravedigger Billy or the tree instead if you’re after event help.

  27. 150 donuts is indeed a lot… but I spent it anyway as in impulse buy, because the entire idea of it simply amused me. (I can actually do that, nowadays – farmium for the win! 😀 )

But you know… I mean, what’s the point of playing the game at all, if it doesn’t provide some amusement?

  28. As a completionist I agree, WAAAYYYY overpriced.

  29. This has been one of my favorite events in a long time but the premium stuff has been just not worth it, maybe EA comes up with better items as the event goes

  30. I thought it was way over priced as well and passed on it. If it would have been a premium character then I would have considered, but only a skin? how many times would it get used after the event. None.
With the people I have now collecting shovels, I can maintain my pace to getting to the last prizes before the time is up.
Just about have #4 prize Orb of Isis. and getting close to getting #5 Abu Simbel Temple.
This is all without really putting too much effort into playing.
