Should I Spend Donuts on the Pirate Prison?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Time to grab toast as we travel back…wayyyy back…in time with Homer in the all new TTT (Time Travel Toaster) event!  We’ve flashed forward from the land of Egypt to the era of rum, jolly rogers, pirate ships and scurvy…and of course we’ve got loads of Pirate Era items in our Springfield just temping us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Pirate Prison to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this animatronic prison to your town…

Pros
-Ok (but not great) bonus %
-Always animated (pirates inside move around)
-Fun reminder of classic ride for Disney fans

Cons
-No benefit for the event
-Doesn’t do anything beyond look “pretty”
-No questline or tasks associated with it (not even dialogue)

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
I like it, but I’m also a Disney nerd. It goes really well with the other animatronic items offered in this Era.  One of those “if you like it, get it” items.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can you I’ll likely be picking this one up.   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

What are your thoughts on the Pirate Prison?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield?  Why or why not? Where have you placed it? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Very interesting arguments, I basically agree with you!

  2. In Venice, they have the famed Bridge if Sighs. Condemned men would leave the pros on and see the beauty of the world and sigh. With the jail, the bridge and the executioner, you can recreate this. It’s nice as a package.

  3. Pirate Prison

Now THIS should’ve been a Prize earned (if this Event was occurring last year? I’m sure it would’ve been!)

I ❤ it! I’m not spending 60 Bonuts / Donuts on it (especially when Pirate Prison will probably return to the Store at discount!)

My cheap Cedar Faire Pirate Flume Ride along is looking lol worthy as is 😅

  4. I bought it because I liked it and put it in despair heights by some castles.

  5. Mixed feelings about this one. PotC is the greatest dark ride anywhere and the one in Disneyland is superior to any one of them, even in Shanghai. Yes the projections are beyond cool but at DL you have the Blue Bayou restaurant to float past and the knowledge that Walt himself supervised the entire project. Sadly he never saw it open to the public but what a fitting final masterpiece to his legacy. The jail scene I feel is as iconic as the floral Mickey that greets you as enter the park but WHERE to put it? It is such an indoor image that I’m having trouble thinking outside the box as where to place it.

  6. Haha, I just unlocked the Gallows, and the animation is great!

  7. This was a must have for me. I grew up in the LA area and my grand parents took us to Disneyland regularly. I’ve had less chances to go there with my kids, but we still make it there every 2-3 years.

When my son was 4ish we came out of PotC into the gift shop and he wanted the big ring of old fashioned keys. Later he asked to go on Pirates again, and when we got to the section with the guys in jail, he started stretching out of the boat to try and give them his keys so they could get out.

  8. I thought I won this…just goes to show I’m not keeping track of this event other than to buy every available pirate accessories there arrrrgh 😀

  9. Now HOW did I not notice the recycling bin before?!??

    • I covered the recycling icon with a grog barrel in front of the bin…someone was being just tooooo clever. Didn’t really care for the sign either (never thought of pirates as all that preachy), so it got stored pretty quickly. No need to make room for it…no payout of any kind, and it kinda ruined the pirate vibe for me.

      • Those were both nods to Disneyland “PC-ing” Pirates in the early 2000’s (if memory serves) by putting loaves of bread and stuff in the hands as the “reason” the pirates were chasing the girls.

  10. I think I may work this into my pier somehow.

On a side note, has anyone covered the new tasks/buildings that Cecil Terwilliger has?

    • That’s what I did. Too seperate decks joined by the bridge, with pirate booty strewn about the place.

  11. If anyone cares, I’m putting these animatronics on the boardwalk sections and making a rowboat go in between the tiles (Because you can’t put boats in a lake). It makes it like a small Pirates of the Caribbean!

    • Pretty clever…be sure to post it when the “show off” comes around…looking for ideas for stuff after the event.

  12. I got it, and it’s going behind in the dark alley behind the Helter Shelter.

    The underbelly of philantrophy…..

  13. I’m already over the suggested limit for the number of items in my SF, which makes me even more miserly with my donuts. I guess I could place more items I don’t love in my inventory, but it’s pretty frustrating.

  14. They really should allow to have to these items in KL

  15. If only these animatronics could go into Krustyland…

  16. I like it, but this even it making me wish even more that we could put oceanic items on any water tiles. Like, I have a considerable lake/river section where I’m building a pirate island, but boats still have to go in the ocean 🙁

  17. Ain’t gonna do it.
Zero benefits, can’t think of anywhere to blend it into the rest of Springfield.

  18. Dangit…fellow Disnerd here. I think I have to get it, but also trying to save up for 1, maybe 2 Presidents (hopefully) next week.

It would be awesome if this (and actually *all* the TTT stuff) could be placed in Krustyland. Would make for some fun rides.
