Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So, here is your Open Thread…..

Don’t forget voting is open in the latest Bracket Battle!  Pick your favorite buildings to advance!

Out with the old, in with the new. as the Time Travel Event is over and we’ve got a new mini event in our games.  A good time to catch up on some design work or just recharge your TSTO battery, as the mini event lasts 2 weeks and won’t take nearly that long to complete. What do you plan to do with your “downtime”?

What do you think the next Major Event will bring?

How was the rest of your weekend?  Do anything fun and exciting? Enjoying your summer? (or winter for those in the Southern Hemisphere…)

So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of! (Just no politics, it never ends well)  Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!

Have Fun!  And happy Sunday!

Hi there! Does anyone know – are we waiting for an update or???
I haven’ been able to log in since saturday. Still the same splashscreen as in the last game.

  2. Curious, I was looking at the Heights section. I noticed there are certain characters that can do 8 hour jobs and render 60+ couch/lattes/pads/mats. Is there a breakdown so I can key in on certain characters to speed up my Heights progress? I’m not a big fan of every 30sec, 5/15/18min to get resources.

Help with this is greatly appreciated!

Randomly searching my store. Couldn’t find Springfield Mountain Sign nor the Clampitheater. I’ve heard some have the Mountains in their Vault. Meanwhile, awaiting and waiting.
Be nice if there was a search option- just where and how is an item categorized.😇.

    • As mentioned in this post about the vault (https://tstoaddicts.com/2017/06/02/inside-the-vault/), both the Clamphitheater and Springfield Sign are now in the vault. I was just offered the Springfield Sign last week.

      • Tracy - 1ltwoody920

        Thanks, Safi.
The post you referenced is an entire 6 weeks old, no wonder I forgot about it. I can’t remember what I ate for breakfast today. Oops, wait, I haven’t eaten yet.
Trying so hard to set some form of design now that I have so much stuff and land
        – “wouldn’t it look good I placed an certain item ‘here’ ”
And with it somewhere in the Vault, I can’t ‘dry fit’.
Oh well, must be patient, this too shall pass.

  4. I was just digging at the excavation site and unearthed a barbarian statue. I was told it was placed in my inventory but its not there. Ive searched the whole inventory. I do already have one from back during the clash of clones event. So is this a glitch because it is a unique item? Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, should we expect a post on the excavation site and the new rewards now that the TTT event is over.

    • yes, it is a glitch because it’s a unique item. and they covered the rewards in this thread:

      https://tstoaddicts.com/2017/07/05/time-travel-removal-update-is-live/

“Excavation site prizes/changes. It remains as it’s own mini game and pays out cash and XP as well as a bonus prize. Here are the prizes:

Pirate Booty, Barbarian Statue, Castle Gates, Castle Tower, Castle Wall, Rock Pile 1, Wooden Barrel, Hieroglyph Wall & Broken Down Dryer/Broken Down Washer.

And for those wondering…you earn shovels AUTOMATICALLY. You’ll earn 2 shovels every hour until they max out.”

      • Thanks. I obviously overlooked the TTT takedown post. I did contact EA on the glitch and got 15 donuts for the inconvenience.

    • It’s a unique item. If you already have one, you won’t get another, despite the lazy programming that tells you you won one when you really haven’t.

      So, you can stop searching.

  5. I’ve been playing Futurama Worlds of Tomorrow. It was a little confusing at first, but I’m starting to enjoy it. I don’t feel the need to rush to complete anything so I just log in every few hours. Building up premium currency (pizza slices) is pretty easy through watching ads and sometimes the final prize for the daily login. The 8-bit games are entertaining and the visual tasks for characters are huge. Playing freemium will take some time to collect all the characters, but it’s a good break from TSTO and the 4-hour grindfest. Now I can play both of my favorite cartoons whenever I want!

    • I was worried it was going to be another Tiny co grindfest. And they’d want you to pay through the nose just to get anywhere in the game.
      But.
It’s not so far. The writing is really sharp, the turn based combat is good and at the moment you only need to check in occasionally to reset the character jobs. Placing/moving buildings is a bit clunky but apart from that it’s pretty good so far.

    • The drop rates are frankly ridiculous !!!
Usual thing, they want your money.

  6. Hey everyone, just wondering, anyone else having issues going into Krustyland? I had a money daily quest to go into KL to play sideshow you. Since it was only money, I dismissed it. Since then, I can no longer get into KL, game crashes every time I go to enter it.

  7. Does anyone know if you hide a neighbor because they are not playing can they still see your town? Was just wondering

  8. So I have rediscovered the joys of letting my gnome out of the box and just having him be free until I stumble across him when clearing my town. Great fun☺️…….💜X

    • I’ve been doing the same thing! Sometimes I don’t even realize that I’ve found him until I suddenly hear that cackle, lol.

      • ….it’s more fun that way! We just need EA to award us SH Ads or mats when we find him!…..💜X

    • Thanks for reminding me about the little guy…just relesed him into the wild😀.

      • EBRON- It takes me a few secs to tap in your town, then 10 mins + to take a stroll. Last night, as it was so sunny, I chose to amble along the seafront. I love what you’ve done there, especially how you incorporate and blend so many events. Well done👏👌….💜X

        • I love strolling in my neighbor’s towns, especially around the borders…I tend to put my new stuff in S H, but I’ve noticed my neighbors mostly seem to build along the right edge of town. I like to go there first and see what they’re working on😄🏗🏢🔧😄.

          • I seem to have a lot of plonkers😂 (people who just plonk event items in a heap), so I especially notice those who take the time to decorate. I try to find a spot for all income generating items and then just leave the rest in storage til I get the land where I’d like to place it. Currently waiting to put out my dinosaur area. I’ve now started to get the 6,000 item warning, so I may have to start scaling back on stuff….💜X

  9. I am back from a 2 1/2 week vacation by the seaside. Sorry for not playing the game and not reading the blog – much. At least not as much as usual. Strange how things you normally like to do for rest and relaxation suddenly seem like a chore during vacation…

  10. Tracy - 1ltwoody920

    Advice / suggestions requested
Next up on my wish list:

    Jessica Lovejoy – 180
    Maisson Derrière- 150
    Sherry and Terry – 150
    Ranco Relaxo – 130
    Powell Motors – 200

This is kinda sorta my acquisition order, but anyone want to suggest something different? Reasons? What ain’t I seeing?
I’m closing in on most of the major characters. Whoopee!

    • 🎶We put the Spring (spring?) in Springfield🎶. I’d put MD first, only because I adore that episode. They’re all super buys. Excited for you😎……💜X

  11. simpsonsmomma

Is there a list of the excavation site prizes for post event? Thanks 🙂

  12. PATRIC – Have you seen these yet? https://gravitylight.org/

Looks like they could be helpful for the village you’re working with!

  13. I have the Springfield sign in my vault. I wish that thing could be placed within the existing mountain range, because I don’t have space for it elsewhere. It’s enormous!

    • It covers/replaces part of the mountains, so it actually does go within the mountain range. (Kinda like the monorail tunnel section)

      • i don’t think that’s possible, but i don’t have the springfield sign in my vault yet to check. would love to see a screen cap of that if it is in fact possible.

      • I couldn’t get it to do that. How?

        • Sorry Dr, was thinking of the Homerlayas…you are right, it has to go in front of the mountains as a stand alone item, and it does take up a huge amount of space. I placed mine in a wooded area, so I just “mass stored” all the trees etc that were in the way.

    • Tracy - 1ltwoody920

It’s not in my Vault (yet) nor in my Store (suggesting it approaches my Vault)
If it does cover the mountains, I might have some design plans.

  14. Tracy - 1ltwoody920

New Vault items. Only thing that interests me is the DMV Limo. A Net cost of 35 donuts and a 2.25%XP. Should put me really, really close to 90,000 XP per KEM. A few better deals, but nothing that excites me. Next up, a fencing contractor stops by in a few hours. I’m so excited. I get to spend REAL 💰.
    Make that, real 💰💰💰💰💰💰

  15. Hi guy’s n’ gals. As some of you have noticed that I’ve not been on for a number of weeks. I’m taking a break from playing the game as fed up being spoon fed land from EA. I might come back but it definitely won’t be anytime soon.

Just like to say thank you too you all with being part of this family and to all my neighbour’s. If you choose to drop me from your friend list i have no problem with that and i wish you all the best endevours!

    Mark.

  16. This event was nice, it was easy and the prices were interesting (eg multicolored trees for 100$).
    Have a good day 🙂

  17. Has anyone else noticed that you can store the castle walls directly after winning them from the excavation game but once placed you can’t store them again? I hope EA changes this. I don’t want unused walls taking up space.

    • Try it again after the XP collects.

      • I just stored them one at a time. I tried storing 3 at once yesterday but it wouldn’t allow it. Thanks. I probably wouldn’t have tried to store them again. Now they’re safely tucked away for future redesigns.

    • It’s safer to go ahead and place all your prizes (you can put them all together in an empty spot) when playing the mini-game…this way the XP will for sure be earned…then store them as a group at the end of the mini-game. Never lost an item this way.

    • No problems with the castle walls, but I “lost” a Barbarian-Homer-Statue in my inventory. After winning it at the dig site I immediately stored it, but now it is gone. Went through everything, but no Statue.

  18. Anyone else playing the Claw Machine or Excavations games and not receiving prizes? It says they are automatically placed in inventory, but none are actually being added. Is this a known glitch? How do you resolve it?

    • I have been awarded homer barbarian statue twice and have not received it.

      • It’s a unique item, but, unfortunately, the programmers were too lazy to have the game check to see whether you already have it and, if so, to remove it from the pool of potential prizes. (Same thing with Sir Hugs a Lot and the claw machine, I hear.)

        • So is Sir Hugs a Lot possible to get? I’ve been playing that damn claw machine forever 🙁

          • Well, I’m pretty sure it is, since I think I’ve read comments from prior who have earned him. I can’t give you a first-hand account, though, because I already had him (I think he was a prize during a Christmas event a while back). But I thought it was funny when you said you’ve been playing that claw game forever…I mean, we only got it a few weeks ago! I’m STILL waiting to get a mini-nuke from the rocket, and that’s been around WAYYYY longer! (I did get two of them from The Eliminator, though. 🙂 )

        • SANDRA- Thanks for clarifying. I thought the statue was unique, but maybe it had been changed because I had the same thing happen to me. Talk about soaring with the eagles and then feeling squashed like a bug. I got over it though by clearing my town and bagging 9 Donuts😎…..💜X

  19. So is there a way to get Cecil so i can start the damn dam? 🙂 or since i wasn’t around for the event i can’t get him?

    • yes you can, but there are a couple prerequisites you must meet first.
according to the wiki, you must:

      1. build an aspirational building (Cubic Zirconia, The Sunsphere, Sit-N-Rotate, Krusty Burger Oil Rig, Escalator to Nowhere, Popsicle Stick Skyscraper or Fortress of Choclitude).
      2. reach $2,000,000 or more in-game cash.

after you’ve done both of these things in your game, the Let Bygones Be Gone questline should pop up, giving you Cecil for free.

      • Don’t forget to turn on the XP collider when you buy the expensive stuff…

      • Thanks. I read a few places its one or the other not both. Thanks again, few thousand short of 2 mil right now. looks like i will shoot for 3 mil instead.

      • ETA: I hit the 2 mil mark last night with no aspirational items and unlocked Cecil.

  20. Can anyone tell me why, when completing a task and tapping on a character I get a white flash that envelopes my whole screen for a second? It’s almost like a flash from a nuclear blast (without the nuclear blast)…..just a quick, white flash that fades in and out real quick. What causes this? Is it tied with one character or event? I can never tell because it usually happens when I tap a random cluster of characters.

    • Tied with one of the chars 🙂

    • It’s from the eight hour task for the Japanese Yakuza boss in the white suit; the task is something like ‘build fight drama’ and then when it’s completed you get a big white flash when you tap on him. It’s quite unnerving at first.

      • I hate it so I’ve stored him.

        • Wouldn’t it make more sense to just not use his 8-hour task? Characters can earn a lot of cash and XP over time…

        • You could always put him on a permanent 24hr task…I have around 10 characters who are always on 24hr duties, because I either don’t want them on some unpleasant task, or because I really like the 24 job (Lurleen is always grilling at the BBQ pit). They all complete at the same time, which makes it easy to put them back in (you can also end them together early at the unemployment burea). Now they are all bringing in a paycheck, and I don’t accidently hackey sack a frog.

          • I’ve never been one to really use the 24-hour tasks, but I gotta say that my rabbi has been playing chess a LOT lately!

          • Wise guy serves food (his 24 hour task) permanently, it’s the only way to animate the Monorail café and Sebastian Cobb is usually tinkering with the Monorail (his 24 hour task) to animate the railyard

            🚝🚅🚄
            🇬🇧😁

    • I was wondering that too but I think it’s one of the Flanders brothers 8hr task. The light always happens when I put my characters on an 8hr task.

    • justinmwat151

It’s the conclusion to the Yakuza boss’s task i believe

    • look at simpsons house with yakuza boss in white suit. Its him from the spy special. in that flash he beats up all the guys around him.

    • It’s tied to the Yakuza Boss’s task – build fight drama. Once completed, it flashes and the to guys standing with him in front of the Simpson home are lying on the floor.

  21. I’m really hoping that EA fixes the quest requirement for the Sea Captain at the Ghost Airship. Or a least gets the quest to trigger for those of us who bought the ship during the TT event. I now have a ghost ship with no way to make the ghosts appear, and I know I’m not alone in this.

  22. Josephine Kick@$$

    Hello everyone 😊

  23. Hi, Addicts!
Can anyone help me with my doubts? Which mini-game is worth to play and which is not?
Finding Maggie gives me donuts. Yellow Submersible gives me (sometimes 😉 ) Squidport tiles. Surveillance Post helps me with Monorail and that gives me free donuts everyweek.
But playing Claw Machine seems to me worthless – winning items are below 1000$ which I have to pay for it.
    Am I wrong?

    • I would say Claw Machine is worthless once you get the Sir Hugs-a-lot bear. I also feel like Sci-Fighter is mostly not worth the time unless you’re working on the Monrail portion of the week. I wish they would change so it would give you payouts even if you’re at your max like the Surveillance game does.

    • Actually, several items from the claw machine can be sold back for more than $1,000. That said, I probably wouldn’t pay it if i didn’t sometimes just want to get rid of the floating joystick.

I pretty much play all of them, either with the slim hope of getting a bonus percentage earning item (the mini-nuke from The Eliminator or the rocket…still haven’t gotten that yet from the rocket yet….or an elder god from the chili cauldron game), or for whatever they do earn that I can use (trash) or sell, or just for the XP points (the games earn more than a character’s 24-hour task even). Plus, some of them, like the excavation game, are still kinda fun!

    • The mystery box is a better investment for usable items and XP boosts…and you usually get most of your donuts back if you play 6 times in a row (30 donut prize). I do still send the submersible everyday…costs nothing, pays $500/day and I get a couple tiles a week. I am still excavating, just because I like the rocks, but I expect eventually that will wear thin also.
I am done working all day to earn donuts at the monorail…reminds me too much of grinding in the Heights…and the sound for the Maggie game is constantly cutting out, so I finally stored the Playdough factory. I farm KEMs or Trucks for my donut addiction and that is so much less irritating and time consuming.
I think playing the claw machine is a waste of money…nothing in it I want, so I don’t play it (but I like the look of it in my ‘arcade section’ on Squidport, so it will stay for now).

      • True but it not a game! I love the mini-games and am so glad they left the excavation one for us!!! I had forgotten about the eliminator. I use the surveillance and Sci-fighter to boost my junk collection weekly.

      • …”and you usually get most of your donuts back if you play 6 times in a row (30 donut prize).”…

Ebron – Are you saying that you need to play 6 times in a row OR after 6 mystery boxes, over any amount of time, you should get 30 donuts?

        • it’s over time, and it just means that to see the fruits of your labor, you must keep buying them. eventually after buying a bunch, you will realize that the mystery box results are not really random, and that it follows a certain cycle where you will get two items with bonuses (news vans and billboards), a bunch of other crap that will repeat, and either 10 or 30 donuts. after buying lots of MBs, you will realize you are boosting your bonus multiplier an average of 1% every 8 donuts, which is a significantly better value than any other item in the game, including jet engine bikes. this info has been going around for a little while now, but it is still THE best way to quickly boost one’s bonus. my bonus is currently at %1503, and it’s been a couple months at least since i’ve bought any MBs.

          • Tracy - 1ltwoody920

            Well said.
My ‘gut’ feeling is every 3rd box something ‘good’ arrives. Although Lard knows I have plenty of 110 donut value LARD LAD stored in inventory – which is ‘something good’. But 10 donuts or 30 donuts or 2% News Vans or 1% Billboards are awarded also.
Ya’ just swallow and agree to spend 30 or 40 or 50 donuts and go on a buying spree – and then Store those bomb shelters, ponds , ‘ondas, Lard Lads and other items that don’t fill a need in your town.

            • No “gut feeling” involved….Charles has posted the exact order of the different “sets” (both within the sets and the order of the sets themselves) on this site a couple of different times. All of the sets, but one, involve 25 mystery boxes yielding 9% for a net cost of either 58 or 88 donuts (I think). There’s one shorter set that yields 6% for an even lower net donut cost. (I don’t remember the exact net costs, but I know that 88 is the most you’ll spend.)

          • Thank You Tapebelt, Tracy and Sandrashill for the replies! I have seen the previous Mystery Box concept posts before and was just wondering about the phrasing of Ebron`s post. I have played from almost the beginning and have a bonus % of 650. I don`t remember the bonus % being a `thing` like it is now, perhaps starting from things like the tennis court glitch, xp collider, hidden SH bonus for some building, etc… EA now offers many bonus % things so much more then what I can remember. Considering the boom of KM farming and so many longtime tappers paying less for donuts with real money then before (maybe) EA has added a new strategy to keep eyeballs on the game, that they gain from, just as much as real money in many ways.

Anyway, thanks again gang, and happy tapping!

  24. So where’s my balloon finder gone?

  25. Dieter von Dusseldorf

I look forward to the day when I can stop bonut farming after earning $4billion and having 20,000 donut reserves in the bank. Until then, I’ll just have to take it $5.7 million a day at a time.

    • How? I have been playing since near the beginning and hover around $100,000. I just started KEM farming a month ago. I can usually only afford to buy around 30 KEMs at a shot. My multiplyer is only around 124 percent. What have I been doing wrong all these years? (I’m freemium)

      • Dieter von Dusseldorf

Buy more houses. Reinvest the earnings to buy additional houses. Send characters on work tasks when you’re not playing. Use donuts to buy premium items with a bonus percentage.

        Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

        • House farms are not necessary (and, in my opinion, are usually ugly, unless the player takes time, space, and money to decorate it up to look like a real neighborhood). I managed to get plenty of cash and a very high multiplier without ever having to resort to any kind of farming other than KEM farming (which, IMO, doesn’t look a bad, since, for a portion of the build time, it just looks like I have a regular/real fat going, with patches of soil, plus, I’m willing to make more aesthetic sacrifices for donuts than for in-game cash).

For me, the keys were using the shortest task times I could handle, visiting all 100 neighbors each day, and building up my multiplier as much and as quickly as I could, taking advantage of any glitches EA let through along the way (like the tennis courts one).

Also, are building new house farms even still worth it, now that EA charges a sliding scale for the houses?

        • I’ve had a blue house farm for a couple of years. I always send my characters on four hour tasks.. Yet.. I seem to be getting nowhere fast. 🙁

          • Oh no Tippie. Don’t get disheartened. A lot of the people on here have been playing a long time, been able to take advantages of glitches(tennis courts, wailing walls) and quite frankly a lot of them are addicts.
It is hard being freemium but there’s some good posts on this site about farming, multipliers and the XP collider.
May not seem it sometimes but you’ll get there.

          • A higher XP bonus percent will do more for you than any house farm…if you don’t have the collider, buy it. Take advantage of mystery boxes and fill your town with tv trucks and billboards (you can hide them if you like behind buildings). Try to increse your XP bonus by at least 20% a week…this is very doable with mystery boxes, since two of the prizes are donuts (10 donuts and 30 donuts). When you get into the 800% to 1000% bonuses, the money will no longer be an issue and you can farm much more profitably. Over 1000% will bring in cash in the millions every day.

    • Tracy - 1ltwoody920

A bit of a grind, but buy all 5 Beach Houses and fully upgrade them. That yields a large boost in your XP. KEM farm. Buy Mystery Boxes. For me, every 5 boxes I tend to get a News Van or Billboard that increases my XP.
Turn on the ten day XP Multiplier. Grind to recoup the 25 donut cost, then cruise along with pure profit. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Drats, I think I placed this wrong – meant to reply to tippietippie.

  26. Hmm… you’ve put a picture of Rollerskate Smithers at the end of this post, but no SISDO for Sconewall Bakery?
