Should I Spend Donuts on the Rainbow Hydrants or Pride Balloons?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Apparently the recent Time Travel Event has caused EA to lose their calendars because a Pride Update has hit our games..a month late. Naturally with all event, mini or not, our stores are stacked with premium items tempting us to spend those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add any either the Pride Balloons or Rainbow Hydrants to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding these prideful decorations…

All content leaves stores July 18th

Item: Pride Balloons
Cost:
10 Donuts
Earns:
.25% Bonus on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100
What Does It Do?:
They’re Balloons.  They float, anchored to the ground.  If you’ve finished the Balloon questline (tapping balloons etc) you’ll unlock various “skins” to change the look of them.
My Opinion:
You get a set of balloons for free via the questline, the bonus % isn’t great at all. (if you were to spend 40 donuts (same price as a police car etc, that has a 2% bonus) you’d only get a 1% bonus on these. TERRIBLE bonus % return).  Pass.  You’ve already got them for free, not worth buying more.

Here’s a look at the various “skins” for them…

Item: Rainbow Hydrant Bundle (6 Hydrants/bundle)
Cost:
20 Donuts
Earns:
.05% Bonus on all cash and XP each hydrant so .30% bonus for the pack
Conform-O-Meter: Obedience +10 each
What Does It Do?:
Animated when tapped, water shoots out from the top.
My Opinion:
Bonus % is TERRIBLE.  Downright AWFUL.  So do not buy these for the bonus %, you’ll be kicking yourself if you do.  However, they are Fire Hydrants, and many of you complained you didn’t buy more back when the Fire event happened.  So if you feel like your Springfield needs more hydrants pick up a pack or two, otherwise pass.  So basically buy for aesthetics (and so your down won’t burn down) and not for the bonus %.

And there you have it my friends, the final premium round up for the Pride Event.

What are your thoughts on the items?  Which will you pick up or pass on? Design plans? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Bought the color hydrant package because a purple hydrant looks so good next to Hairy Shearers! If not for that, I would have passed.

  2. I passed on both and went into the Vault and bought 5 Jet Cycles – normally 30 donuts each, but this week with the Vault rebate only 20 donuts each. At 2% bonus each, that’s an increase of 10% for 100 donuts. No better deal out there.

    • One better deal out there…a set of 25 mystery boxes will yield 9% for a max of 88 donuts, and could be less (depending on where you are in the set rotation).

  3. One set of hydrants and one extra set of balloons. Would have got more but that bonus is truly pitiful.

  4. Worst. Event. Ever.

    6 more days…

  5. It’s kinda sad that the random-tap-for-badges-mini-event-floaty-balloons just disappeared after collecting them 😞

    • I thought so too! I would love to have them floating about still.

    • When it rains it pours , where you been hiding ?

Stop by and we will make a movie in black and white . See ya bye . 👽

    • Maybe they’ll offer a set of 12 as an NPC purchase…been doing that a lot lately…or a mini game would be fun, too.

  6. Those hydrants look tempting.

  7. So excited, I’m gonna have the gayest district ever. ❤️💛💚💙💜

  8. Off topic, really enjoying playing the excavation site pressure free 😊

  9. So next event is a “Sumertime Sing off”. Fingers crossed we’re going to have Bleeding Gums Murphy.

  10. I’ve been tempted to get the hydrants, but a) I don’t have a lot of blocks where there’s room in front of the buildings to place them and b) they’re too colorful to fit into most parts of my town.

But I might still change my mind, since they’re so inexpensive….

    • I’m thinking I may still get a couple sets, and then store them for later…I always seem to find places for stuff after it’s no longer available (it’s a talent🤗).

      • haha, was just discussing this recently, with regard to event craftables. i, too, seem to have a knack for not crafting enough extras of decorations i end up wanting to use later… happens every time. facing the same issue with the egypt stuff now… wish i had crafted a few more of each style of column. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • i used to be fairly tight/compact with my designs, back when space was always an issue, but since then i’ve gone out of my way to give all of my buildings/areas of design a bit of breathing room… and that often includes a row or two of space in front of, or around, properties. it allows for a degree of flexibility in situations like this, and frankly, makes everything stand out more.

      • Sometimes yes, sometimes no, in my view (this being a totally subjective thing). I’ve seen plenty of towns where each building stands on its own “island,” which just doesn’t look very realistic to me (maybe because I’m a northeasterner). I do give somethings more room though…

Plus, I prefer to be somewhat thrifty with my land so I don’t have to worry as much about running out. (I have started getting item warnings, though, so that may end up eventually being even more of a limiting factor in my design.)

        • agreed, and i think you know i don’t design like that either. 🙂 i’m just talking about buildings not overlapping, and you know, actually being able to see the roads between them.

          • Oh, you’re an excellent designer, no question!

I’m pretty sure that, at least in the majority of cases, you can see the roads between my blocks, if I’m understanding what you’re saying. But often the space I leave is behind the buildings, not in front (especially if it’s a taller building that I can use to hide billboards and news vans behind).

  11. I can’t remember how many hydrants I got last time, but it was more than was rational. I still bought two sets of the rainbow hydrants, and might get more. I do a lot of color grouping in my town, so an option like this just delights me.

  12. Hydrants didn’t do much for me, but got lots (and I mean lots!) of balloons. I can see plenty of places in my town for them in the future. Always regretted not buying more of the Halloween and red ballons previously…I mean…who doesn’t like baloons?

    • I am obviously better at buying balloons than spelling “balloons”🙃.

    • As a small child I had balloon phobia. I still don’t like having them close to me.

    • Ebron, your balloons look great! IAnd you’re not kidding, you bought a lot of them! I know I always say this, but I really love visiting your town. I also love what you did with your museum, roping off the Egyptian artifacts as displays. You put so much imagination into everything.. It’s so fun to drop by to see what your latest addition is.

      • Thanks…you are very kind…really, I just try to have fun with my town. My newest design is in SH where my Egyptian stuff was…have made room for a “Trump’s America” homage (?).
I also have a new campaign slogan (free of charge) for all the folks running mid-term next year…”Let’s Make America America Again”. This event has made me think about Pride in lots of different ways, but to be honest, I’d mostly just like to have back the pride I used to have in my country.

        • 👍👍

        • Well, ebron, I’m sorry to hear you’re not happy with our president. I voted for Trump and love the job he’s doing so far. The economy has been doing great. Have you looked at your stock portfolio lately? The markets keep hitting new records. I suffered through eight long and agonizing years of Obama. I couldn’t be happier with the way things turned out. I’m a proud American again. We may differ in our political views, but I still love your town.

          • And conversation done. Politics never end well on this site. So guys please don’t inject your political opinions and views in otherwise great comments. (Goes to the original comment as well)

The President or PM of any country is still that country’s leader and deserves respect no matter how you feel about their policies or political party. Remember, politically, what you think is awful someone else thinks is great. And it’ll likely always lead to arguments.

          • Thanks, Tippie…we are all different folks…what’s nice is that we can all be friendly neighbors in the game. One of the things I like most about Addicts is that we can have different opinions, but all still agree that we love the game and will try to help eachother out.👍😁

  13. I think the hydrants are worthless, but I bought more balloons because they are always fully animated (floating around) and add some dynamic for decorating around dull buildings. They work well placed right behind the sunflowers in the planters from the secret agent event.

  14. I got two sets of the hydrants because they’re colorful and 3 extra balloons. 🎈🎈🎈

  15. I bought the Fire hydrant pack and will buy at least 3 balloons (like Brooders) so I can also show all of the looks. I really like how both items add more colour to Springfield. I would have liked to get more of the purple and orange balloons from the Halloween Event a couple of years ago.

  16. I purchased an additional 3 balloons so that I could have all 4 sorts on display 💞
