Where Did THAT Come From – Stunt Cannon

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

Homerpalooza! Woo to the hoo friends! Every so often the designers at EA reach into the Best. Show. Ever. and pulls out fun stuff from iconic episodes. For this one, they figuratively dove into the forbidden closet of our TSTO characters with items Marge doesn’t want them using in the game.

With new stuff comes great responsibility or something like that so it’s time to dive into the TV series again and talk about it. For this installment we will be looking at the freemium stunt cannon, Hooray for in-game cash awesomeness which may or may not have anything to do with the next big event. But enough intro… let’s go find this item.

“Homerpalooza” (S7:E24)

Absolutely nothing wrong with an episode parodying Lalapalooza that includes The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Peter Frampton, and Cypress Hill. I’m a big fan of adding the word palooza to anything so finallygetting something from this episode makes me smile. Otto takes the kids on an unscheduled field trip to the auto wrecking yard that results in no busing to the school for a while. The result is Homer driving the kids to school. Let’s just say his choice in music may or may not make him a K-Fossil jive turkey in the eyes of the kids.

Homer is bummed that the kids think he’s lame and would never partay with him even if he was the last Dad on Earth. He goes to a music store to catch up on all that’s hip in popular music. I just dig this store and want it in the game. It’s inside said store where we see a banner for the music festival known as Hullabalooza. You gotta love that Homer finds out about it by looking for music by Bread which he finds in oldies. I can relate… when did Green Day become classic rock?

Homer knows that rock reached perfection in 1974 and that it is a scientific fact but does end up going to the Hullabalooza fest to get out of his rut and back into the groove. It’s off to the Capitol City Amphitheater for well-supervised craziness for Homer, Bart, and Lisa. It’s like Woodstock with lots of advertising and security plus funny booths, a freak show, and music.

I know this episode dates me but all the joking about how the adult Simpson writers saw the youth of the 90s makes me smile. I know I enjoyed the hell out of some Smashing Pumpkins but I don’t know that I ever danced like the Hullabalooza concert goers. I’m guilty about the flannel for sure.

Homer isn’t cool among the kids in his Rastafarian hat. Lucky for him that he kicks a cannon loaded with a pig from Pink Floyd’s yard sale that was gonna be used for Peter Frampton’s big finale. The pig flies from the cannon and hits him squarely in the belly. People dig the action and Homer quickly is made an offer to join the Pageant of the Transmundane aka Freak show as the fatso who get shot with a cannon.

Homer is on tour as the man with the iron stomach.

Bonus… Homer becomes buds with Billy Corgan and the other performers.

It all comes down to Homer performing in Springfield. Nothing like a hometown show to show everyone how cool you are. Problem is he will die if he takes one more cannonball to the gut. Will he succeed in his stunt and maintain his status as the Pride of Springfield?

Will there be any watermelon left after Sonic Youth raids Peter Frampton’s ice chest?

Well… watch the episode friends. Hopefully the new cannon and this righteous break in content has been a cool one for you. Here’s wishing you also are cool in the eyes of your friends and family that you hopefully spent some time with during the time off. Otherwise you might be just like middle-aged Grampa. “I used to be with it, but then they changed what *it* was. Now what I’m with isn’t *it*, and what’s *it* seems weird and scary to me.
