Where Did THAT Come From – Springfield Historical Society & Holis Hurlbut

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

“The only thing new in the world is the history you do not know” ~  President Harry S. Truman

Words to live by and something historians like me often quote to describe our passion for the past. I guess it’s sort of funny that I’m sort of a Simpsons historian here on the site although my writings here are much less scholastic and hopefully entertaining. Lately, life in the Wookieeverse has been crazy over the last month or so and Alissa the Amazing has been so understanding as I sorted out my life. Not all fixed but I did find some time to write a few posts.

Looking back at all my origin stuff, there’s quite a bit to catch up on and this is another post in that effort to get you some info from where all the stuff in our game comes from. The Time Travel Toaster Event was a ton of fun for this fuzzball and imagine my delight when one of the premiums directly related to be college studies. Woohoo for new things in TSTO that seem made just for me! As usual, new additions mean it’s time for me to stop eating cheetos in my recliner while working on my weekly podcast and get to writing about the origins for it all. For this round of origins,we’ll be taking a look at the Springfield Historical Society and Hollis Hurlbut, offered during the TTT event for 150 donuts.

“Lisa the Iconoclast” (S7:E16)

I actually wrote a bunch about this episode when I did the WDTCF for Jebediah Springfield but it’s never a bad thing to revisit an episode of the Best. Show. Ever., especially the really good ones. Yes I reused pics but sometimes you do something good enough the first time and it works to rock it again. It’s the 200th birthday of Springfield’s founder and the town is ready to celebrate. In school, Lisa is assigned an essay about Jeb and heads to the Springfield Historical Society for research. Hollis Hurlbut is the curator and apparently most of the history worth preserving in Springfield has to do with Jebediah.

Lisa’s research brings light to a lot of things about vicious pirate Hans Sprungfeld. Rather than discovering a patriot who avoided tolls by crossing rivers, wrestled a buffalo, and was “easily the equal of William Dawes or even Samuel Otis,” she finds a man dying of infectious diptheria who once tried to kill George Washington.

Lisa’s discoveries get her banned from the historical society for three months. I dig the velvet rope being seen in this episode too. Hurlbut is prepared to defend false history but how far is he willing to go to do so? Will fake news ruin Springfield? Will the truth ever be known? Is there really such a thing as Jebiditis?

Just like the Jebediah post which has much more info about the episode, this Wookiee is going to leave you in suspense but the end of the episode is satisfying and is actually a great Lisa Simpson moment. I often find myself unwilling to spoil the episodes I really hold dear. I think this one tickles me so much because I’m a history major. Heck, I had a professor reference it once. Long and short is this episode is full of funny and a delight to rewatch. What do you think of Hollis and the new building? Do you like this episode as much as me? Did you part with your sprinklies to add this to your town? Dig history? Sound off in the comments and happy tapping friends.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. This is a great episode.

  2. This has got to be one of the best episodes from Season 7.

  3. Why post this now? This vent was 2 months ago

Clearly, your blog site here isn’t a trusted up-to-date source of gaming information!?

    I’ll go look elsewhere thx

    • Not that I need to explain myself to you…

But sometimes we get slammed with other things and posts (or you know, our lives). And things like WDTCFs take a back burner. While we get a bunch out on time, sometimes there are a few that don’t get out in time. When that’s the case we post WDTCFs and other info during down time, such as this. As far as “trusted up-to-date source”…pretty sure everything that’s in the game is covered. And it’s covered as soon as it hits, or within a few hours depending on when it hits. So we’re about as up to date as it gets…considering CURRENTLY NOTHING IS GOING ON IN THE DANG GAME!

So by all means, have fun looking elsewhere! And good luck! 🙂

      • I admit it took me a while to come around to this site buts posts like WDTCF prove this is one stop shopping. The amount of work that goes into the amount of information here is mind boggling. It’s enough to make a bunny run for the hills!

        • 😂😂😂

we’re not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s fine. But to say we’re not up to date…seesh. like a smack in the face when I’m sitting here delaying my actual work to refresh the files and look for new stuff… 🤷‍♀️

    • You’ll go look elsewhere? Do you promise? 😉

Actually, I find that this website is the best for TSTO! It is a fun community and very informative about the game!

    • Lisa…we are all friends at this site…we try to be helpful and respectful. If you want to “troll”, you are in the wrong place…perhaps the EA Forum would suit you better.

Alissa and Wookie – seems to be one of those days…the rest of us are so grateful for your hard work and attention to detail. Her comment was not worth your time to respond, but of course you still responded….says a lot about your patience and professionalism. Thanks to all our moderators for putting up with such nonsense and handling it gracefully.😊

      • thanks ebron 🙂 Some people just need to just a keyboard to complain…for whatever reason.

      • I do not post on this site frequently but in this case:

Ebron- I completely agree with your sentiments. I can only imagine the amount of work that goes into keeping this site current and I appreciate the very topical information I get by coming here.

So thanks to the TSTO team for your efforts – and let the trolls be trolls I guess.

    • Is this a joke? Sarcasm?

      Anyway, while I’m here:

Alissa why haven’t you made the new event start??!!1!!?one!!

    • Thanks for looking elsewhere. Please stay there. These folks work extremely hard. Also, they are always up to date, which would be noticed by actually reading. Good luck with your “gaming” and trolling, Lisa. Feel free to start your own site…I’m off to track down a Coors light and Xanax for you.

    • Not up to date???? Did you not read anything else on this site? Clearly everything else is up to date. Nothing wrong with an extra post in the downtime. Blimey, some people.

    • I’ve been reading tstoaddicts for almost 4 years. I find it a very trustworthy up-to-date source of information. I read it everyday.

  4. Does anyone foresee the next event hitting today do you think?

  5. Good morning! Long time reader but haven’t really commented much. I love reading the blog thou . You guys seem like a big family and I love the funny banter. Anyway I don’t know if this is the right place for this , but I need. Help with the Dam project. I have been putting money into it when ever I can. Finally I got a message saying Congratulations you’ve completed this part now keep playing to get the Mansion Gardens. I don’t understand. Did I get the Dam?? Or am I just not doing something so the Dam is visible? Please, please help. Thank you. And have a great day.😁😉😃😃💞

    • The dam should be in your “general inventory”, probably very near the beginning. Open your inventory and begin scrolling (don’t choose a category, just scroll immediately)…the dam should show up near the beginning…just choose and place it. If you need help placing it with a stream or want more info, use the search function to find “Road to Riches”…lots of helpful stuff in the blog. Have fun😄
