Bracket Battle Pick’em Contest: Week 6 Leaderboard

Bonjour Brilliant Beautiful Building Bracket Battle Best Buddies,

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “B”)

As many of you know, the third edition of the Bracket Battle is back this summer. This time it’s to determine the most desired building in our Springfield’s. However, this time, we have an added pick’em contest to go along with the Bracket Battle and the Addicts have been kind enough to provide a prize of $10 USD gift card (or equivalent) to one winner from the United States and one International winner.

While it’s too late to enter the contest now, the original contest post with rules can be found here.

A quick recap of the contest:

  • Basically everyone who entered made their 63 picks for who will win the 63 head-to-head matchups.
  • Every correct Round 1 (weeks 1-4) matchup is worth 1 point.
  • Every correct Round 2 (weeks 5-6) matchup is worth 2 points.
  • Every correct Round 3 (week 7) matchup is worth 4 points.
  • Every correct Round 4 (week 8) matchup is worth 10 points.
  • Every correct Round 5 (week 9) matchup is worth 20 points.
  • And correctly predicting the winner in Round 6 (week 10) is worth 40 points.
  • The two people (1 from US, 1 international) with the most points at the end of the Bracket Battle each win a prize.

So who entered?

278 people entered the contest, plus we have four picks that are not eligible for prizes: Namely from our three Addicts and I also made my picks.

We received 179 contest entries from USA; 28 from Canada; 21 from UK (I included those who entered England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as UK); 9 from Australia; 5 from Germany and the Netherlands; 4 from Spain; 3 from Ireland; 2 from Austria, Belgium, Hungary, New Zealand, Slovakia, South Africa, and Sweden; and 1 entry apiece from Brazil, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Macedonia, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, Poland, Singapore, and Thailand.

But we’re all Addicts and the picks we made must all be the same, right?

WRONG!!!

All 282 entries had a unique combination of 63 picks winning their matchups (i.e. not even including the tiebreaker). Granted there are 1,329,227,995,784,920,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 unique entries that could have been made, but I thought there might be some consensus amongst Addicts. 40 of the 64 buildings were picked as winner of the title of the most desired building.

So how am I doing so far?

Here is the Leaderboard after Week 6 and with the end of Round 2, sorted by points then alphabetically by name:

Congrats to our very own Alissa who has now tied Nida for a share of first place. After the end of Round 2, both have 55 of a maximum 64 points.

So who picked who in Week 6?

#3 seed Troy McClure’s House (69% – 1,028 votes) upset #2 Murder House (31% – 469 votes) in the Bracket Battle, allowing the 124 people (41.8%) who picked Troy McClure’s House from the get-go to get the two points.

#2 Snuggler’s Cove (53% – 784 votes) defeated #6 Bates Motel (47% – 687 votes) in the Bracket Battle, allowing the 74 people (26.2%) who picked Snuggler’s Cove from the get-go to get the two points.

#3 Springfield Police Academy (64% – 938 votes) upset #2 13 Euclid Street (36% – 533 votes) in the Bracket Battle, allowing the 138 people (48.9%) who picked Springfield Police Academy from the get-go to get the two points.

#6 Mt. Splashmore (69% – 1,015 votes) upset #2 City Zoo (31% – 455 votes) in the Bracket Battle, allowing the 137 people (48.6%) who picked Mt. Splashmore from the get-go to get the two points.

#2 The Jazz Hole (83% – 1,202 votes) destroyed #3 CBGB (17% – 240 votes) in the Bracket Battle, allowing the 171 people (60.6%) who picked The Jazz Hole from the get-go to get the two points. However, by introducing The Jazz Hole, EA gives the 29 people (9.8%) who chose CBGB a potential opportunity to pick up 4 points in Round 3, if they chose CBGB to win the Week 7 matchup and it does.

#2 The Pretzel Wagon (50% – 726 votes) barely beat #3 Krusty Fried Chicken (50% – 721 votes) by just 5 mere votes in the Bracket Battle, allowing the 96 people (34.0%) who picked The Pretzel Wagon from the get-go to get the two points.

#3 Happy Sailor Tattoo Parlor (51% – 727 votes) barely upset #2 Springfield Martial Arts Academy (49% – 707 votes) by just 20 votes,  allowing the 98 people (34.8%) who picked Happy Sailor Tattoo Parlor from the get-go to get the two points.

#3 Box Factory (88% – 1,260 votes) destroyed #7 Pillow Factory (12% – 179 votes) in the Bracket Battle, allowing the 118 people (41.8%) who picked Box Factory from the get-go to get the two points.

Well that’s it for this weeks pick’em contest leaderboard recap. Don’t forget to vote on the Week 7 Bracket Battle matchups here. Voting is open until noon eastern this Thursday. And be sure to come back this Friday evening for Round 4 when the Week 8 matchups go live.

How is your Bracket going? What did you do right and what did you do wrong? Are you doing better than the Addicts? Did doubling points help or hinder you? You know we love hearing from you!

  1. Why is bates motel winning on the graph and not the words

    • The graph indicates that of the 282 people who entered the contest, 74 people correctly predicted Snuggler’s Cove would win this Round 2 matchup (hence it is Green, green = go = correct); while 145 people incorrectly predicted Bates Motel would win this Round 2 matchup (hence it is Red, red = stop = incorrect). The grays show that 23 people and 40 people incorrectly predicted Quantity Inn and Aphrodite Inn respectively would win this Round 2 matchup, while both were previously eliminated in Round 1 and didn’t even make it to this Round 2 matchup.

  2. I actually don’t look at the place number as much as the place “bucket” (in other words, how many groups down the list am I), but, either way, it was a nasty tumble.

  3. Still climbing… but I think I already “won” when the Jazz Hole showed up.
