Where Did THAT Come From – Flaming Moe’s

For those about to rock (cannon sound)… we salute you!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

It’s Camp Rock here in all of our tiny tappable towns and this fuzzy hominid could not be more thrilled. Hey howdy hey friends. Wookiee popping with one of my favorite parts of being a writer here at this amazing site. That’s right… new stuff for me to talk about just WHERE it all comes from in the Best. Show. Ever. I’m always a fan of new things even though a lot of the coolest things cost precious sprinklies. The 2017 Homerpalooza Event started with a bang (literally with a free cannon) and then went full Rock. As usual, new additions mean it’s time for me to stop eating cheetos in my recliner while working on my weekly podcast and get to writing about the origins for it all. For this round of origins, we’ll be taking a look at the latest skin for Moe’s Tavern in Flaming Moe’s (S3:E10).

Arguably… this is one of those episodes in the pantheon of the Best. Show. Ever. that can be given iconic status. It’s a drink at Universal’s Springfield (non-alcoholic) and even inspired another episode about Moe’s Tavern becoming a place where people can celebrate things like Pride. Frankly, I almost didn’t write a post about this new skin available for 60 donuts but then knew I’d have to rewatch it just for pure joy so figured why the heck not.

It all starts with Kent Brockman’s Eye on Springfield which is so awesome in it’s 80s-ness that I’m smiling ear to ear and rewatching it over and over. “Wow. Infotainment.” We learn about the length of time the Tire Fire has been burning (25 years) and laugh when a younger Drederick Tatum says he’ll have really effed up if he ever ends up back in Springfield. Nice job buddy. I was just stoked to see the Jazz Hole.

Lisa and her friends are having a sleepover and it’s not fun for one Bartholomew J. Simpson. Poor Maggie isn’t as lucky as Bart in avoiding the girls fun. Homer makes the wise choice to vacate the house and is no surprise off to Moe’s.

Problem is that Moe’s is dead and actually out of beer. “Increased job satisfaction and family togetherness are poison for a purveyor of mind numbing intoxicants like myself.” Moe got cut off by his distributor and spent his last ten grand on the love tester. Lots of info here friends.

Moe may not know how to mix other drinks but Homer comes to the rescue with a drink he made up when he was forced to look at vacation slides with Patty and Selma. A little bit of everything from the liquor cabinet topped off with Krusty’s Non-Narkotic Kough Syrup For Kids. Mmmmmmmm. An accidental spark from Patty’s smoke set the drink ablaze and the Flaming Homer was born. “I don’t know the scientific explanation but fire made it good.”

Homer mixes up a couple for Moe and the rest is history. Gotta love any drink that create mouth parties which invite everybody. The bad thing is that Moe takes credit for Homer’s invention. On the heels of the uber popular drink, Moe’s Tavern gets a whole new look.

Aerosmith makes an appearance, we learn Moe’s real name is Morris, there’s a Cheers parody, Homer does a Phantom of the Opera imitation, and so much more. In the off chance you haven’t seen this gem, I guess I could be nice and let you enjoy one heck of an episode. It’s a simple story but really great and all about friendship and ownership.

And that’s really that. Thanks so much for indulging me as I got the chance to talk about one of my favorite episodes that finally is in the game. This event has been a doozy for bringing great stuff and it is just getting started. What do you think of the new building skin and episode? Did you break down and spend the sprinklies? Ever had a drink with cough syrup in it or the Flaming Moe from Universal? Speaking of… you joining us on the 19th to have one if the answer’s no? (Note: the Universal one, we’re not getting crunk lol) Sound off in the comments and happy rocking friends.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. I’m so mad at myself for never going into any of the restaurants at Universal’s Springfield when I went last March. Next time I go, I’m trying out one of everything, Flaming Moe’s included.

  2. Uh, yes. I’m looking for a friend of mine. Last name Jass, first name Hugh.

  3. I visited Universal Orlando in June and had to get the full experience – The Clogger from Krusty Burger, a Flaming Moe, and a giant Lard Lad Donut. Mmmm…fattening.

  4. Happiness is just a flaming moe’s away…

  5. If you don’t know what Flaming Moe is, just listen to the song:
