Where Did THAT Come From – Spotlight Dance Bot, Weird Al, & Pig Balloon

For those about to rock (cannon sound)… we salute you!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

It’s dancing robot and accordion time here in all of our tiny tappable towns and this fuzzy hominid could not be more thrilled. Hey howdy hey friends. Wookiee popping with one of my favorite parts of being a writer here at this amazing site. That’s right… new stuff for me to talk about just WHERE it all comes from in the Best. Show. Ever. I’m always a fan of new things even though a lot of the coolest things cost precious sprinklies. The 2017 Homerpalooza Event started with a bang (literally with a free cannon) and then went full Rock. As usual, new additions mean it’s time for me to stop eating cheetos in my recliner while working on my weekly podcast and get to writing about the origins for it all. It’s always a pleasure to re-watch episodes of the Best. Show. Ever. For this round of origins,we’ll be taking a look at a whole bunch of items:

Spotlight Dance Bot – 30 donuts
Weird Al Yankovic – freemium character after completing tasks in Act One
Pig Balloon – First Act One Prize for 4,800 bracelets

So I covered some of this fairly recently because of the stunt cannon and Pride Event but realize everyone doesn’t read every post. In an effort to cover new stuff from the event but also give a fresh and witty take on these origins, I figured I could do a combo post. It’s convenient and a mix of old and new just for you. You’re welcome. I’d also hate for a troll to call me behind the times again. “Trusted up-to-date source of gaming information” my fuzzy behind. Hope you found a nice bridge Lisa. Anyhoo… let’s do this thing and first heads to “Lisa Goes Gaga” (S23:E22). The Lady Gaga Express come to town in an episode all about Lisa finding her inner confidence and self esteem.

The episode is worth watching and Gaga is really good as a guest star. I’m a big Lisa fan and this is a good episode for her.

Long story made short… Lisa finds her inner superstar and we get to see the dancing spotlight robot at the closing performance of the whole thing.

Next up, “Three Gays of the Condo” (S14:E17). I covered this episode much more in depth in a WDTCF for the Pride Event but one of my favorite parts of this episode is Marge getting Weird Al Yankovic to sing his version of “Jack and Dianne” to get her hubby back and out of his new fabulous single existence with Julio and Grady.

I am a huge Weird Al fan and have been since I first started hearing his stuff on Dr. Demento. I probably owned most of his albums at somepoint and know the words to a bunch of his songs. I agree with the statement that you’ve probably officially made it if he parodies one of your tunes. That’s just the case in “That ’90s Show” (S19:E11). This is one of those episodes I love just for making me nostalgic for all things from the 90s. My formative years were spent transitioning from flannel and Bumblebee Girl to spiked belts and punk rock patches on a yellow mechanic jacket after all. This episode follows Homer and Marge when she went to college. Even better, Homer once was a famous musician in a band called Sadgasm.

During Homer’s spiral into sadness and diabetes, he sees one of his songs being parodied on TV. I agree with Kurt, errr, I mean Homer. “He who is tired of Weird Al is tired of life.” This also just makes me nostalgic for the real Weird Al song he did parodying Nirvana. So many memories.

For our last item we go back to “Homerpalooza” (S7:E24). The Stunt Cannon origin post had a bunch more images and words but I figured I could just highlight that the Pig Balloon hailed from this episode. It’s the whole reason Homer becomes a freak in the first place and is both connected to Pink Floyd and Peter Frampton in the episode.

Wait… that’s just an image of me at Universal Studios in Hollywood with Spider Pig. SPeaking of… any of you going to the Addicts Meet-Up on the 19th? I’m so excited for this and can’t believe it’s happening in less than two weeks AND I got the day off from work. Anyhoo… here’s the real image.

So there you go friends. I guess I could bring up that this last episode is probably why we have lots of Buzz and Duff advertising option for our own personal rock festivals. They joked about advertising in the episode and had fences with Duff and Buzz on them.

What do you think of it all? Stoked for Weird Al in your game? Are you a fan? Did you remember the robot from the Gaga episode? Ever see Pink Floyd’s real pig balloon? Sound off in the comments and here’s hoping all your TSTO rock dreams come true.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. hi there. you guys said your not EA but fans of TSTO. Idk if you can answer this question, but I was wondering, will they ever bring back Weird Al for the Homerpaloza? or bring him back for another event? because I just started playing again and did not have time to do that event.

    Thanks for your time.

  2. MydadlookslikeFlanders

I’m a longtime Weird Al fan and am REALLY happy to see him in the game! Very fun and unexpected.

  3. My wife and I will be there on the 19th even though it’s against doctors orders. She just finished going through chemo and at times my knees betray me. She says between the 2 of us we have one good body and half a soul. She is not a tapper but loves theme parks but has to be careful what she rides. Gadgets Go Coaster makes her sick but Indy is her favorite, go figure. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

  4. There goes Peter Frampton’s big finale…

    😂😂😂

another great post dude. can’t say i ever been a huge big al fan, but i loved his movie UHF. rented it from blockbuster video many times… even used to play this game with my brother to see if we could guess which part/quote from the movie we were thinking of. classic stuff, brings back memories.

  6. Hi again

Does anybody know if Nick Delacourt’s questline give event currency or if i can complete them after the event. I’m a day behind and would rather have him jamming.

  7. With some of the decorations we can craft for our Rock Stage it’s a shame EA doesn’t have night time mode. How cool would the laser lights and the smoke machines look in the dark.

    • The smoke machines do not impress…when you tap them, they let out a little puff of smoke and then stop. I got one…that will be it.

  8. Weird Al is definitely my favorite character from this event so far😁…Lady GaGa would have been pretty nice, too👩‍🎤…but EA probably can’t afford her💰.

  9. Heh love the laser lights a day all the other stage additions so far! Great update!
