In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

It’s Camp Rock here in all of our tiny tappable towns and this fuzzy hominid could not be more thrilled. Hey howdy hey friends. Wookiee popping with one of my favorite parts of being a writer here at this amazing site. That’s right… new stuff for me to talk about just WHERE it all comes from in the Best. Show. Ever. I’m always a fan of new things even though a lot of the coolest things cost precious sprinklies. The 2017 Homerpalooza Event started with a bang (literally with a free cannon) and then went full Rock. As usual, new additions mean it’s time for me to stop eating cheetos in my recliner while working on my weekly podcast and get to writing about the origins for it all. It’s always a pleasure to re-watch episodes of the Best. Show. Ever. For this round of origins,we’ll be taking a look at a whole bunch of items:

Rock Camp Entrance – craftable item

“How I Spent My Strummer Vacation” (S14:E2)

You may remember this episode for being the one where The Simpsons finally jumped the shark but not in a its quality suffered or they went too far way sort of way. Just in a hey, let’s parody that episode of Happy Days with our couch gag kind of way. Heeeeeeeey. I sincerely hope you read that as Arthur Fonzarelli says it.

Homer gives blood to pay for all his family’s expenses and while I truly appreciate Moe, Lenny, and Carl making sure Homer doesn’t drive drunk (I’ll forgive Moe’s intentions based on liability), what we’re looking for is one Rock and Roll Camp. Courtesy of the barflies, Homer ends up on one of those reality episodes where they record you in a taxi cab. What starts off as a sweet moment of Homer loving his family quickly turns into Homer ranting about never becoming a rock star or getting the chance to take pictures of naked women. No surprise Marge is none too thrilled. She might also still be ticked about the explosive diarrhea in the closet to be fair. The whole family is upset at feeling like they ruined Homer’s life so there’s really only one solution to fix it all. Take Homer to The Rolling Stones Rock N’ Roll Fantasy Camp.

Seriously… isn’t Homer the luckiest dude ever? I dig the way this makes you think they might just toss Homer into the woods and then gets to the fun part. Then it’s not even as good as Homer thought it would be. And then it is! A way to “experience the rock n’ roll lifestyle without the lawsuit and STDs.” Woo hoo! Also pretty righteous that it’s led by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. The neon ROCK sign is right there from go.

It’s also a camp with cabins and schedules. There’s no rules other than no outside food. I really dig Elvis Costello’s Instrument Shack but it’s Lenny Kravitz’s Thread Shed that makes me the most happy. Hooray for being in the game too.

I’m so stoked they found a way to give us stuff from the Rock Fantasy Camp without all the expensive names attached. Woohoo! There’s so much to learn at camp too! How to stuff your crotch like Kenny Loggins, how to do tasty guitar licks just like Brian Setzer, you can work on your lyrics with Tom Petty, or even kiss cardboard groupies while practicing escaping to your limo with Professor Keith Richards. So much awesomeness to be found in the episode. You really should check it out for yourself.

The only thing poopy about this camp is the sadness that comes when it’s time to go home after one week of rocking. At least there’s shenanigans at a benefit concert involving a car shaped like the devil to end it all with rocktastic fire!

So there you go friends. A Rock Star-studded episode from 2002 that later partly inspired a music-themed event in TSTO minus the Rock Stars. I’m so thrilled with everything so far.
