Hey Tappers!
After a summer that saw 73 characters (64 including 8 combos) not yet in our games battle it out in 10 weeks of vigorous head-to-head matchups, we crowned the winner of the very first Bracket Battle on August 19th 2016 in this post here.
However, over the past year, we have seen many of those 64 characters enter our towns. So let’s take a look back and see just how much the game has changed over the past year.
Let’s start by taking a look back at the final Bracket:
The Bracket Battle was divided into eight conferences: Men, Boys, Pets, Combos, Doppelgangers, One Hit Wonders, Girls, and Women.
MEN
Rabbi Krustofsky is a limited-time premium character that was released on January 9, 2017, during the Homer the Heretic 2017 Event. Post
Bleeding Gums Murphy is a limited-time premium character that was released on August 1, 2017, during the Homerpalooza 2017 Event. Post
Julio is a limited-time premium character that was released on July 5, 2017, during the Pride 2017 Event. Post
Leopold is a limited-time premium character that was released on March 15, 2017, during the Rommelwood Academy 2017 Event. Post
Gil Gunderson, Llwellyn Sinclair, Dr. Pryor, and Principal Dundelinger remain absent from our game.
BOYS
Adil Hoxha is a limited-time premium character that was released on April 25, 2017, during the Secret Agents 2017 Event. Post
Wendell, Lewis, Colin, Roy, Jeremy, Cosine, and Hubert remain absent from our game.
PETS
Maurice is a limited-time NPC that was released on January 31, 2017, during the Destination Springfield 2017 Event. Post
While Pinchy makes a cameo as the main boss battle during Issue 2 of the Superheroes 2016 Event, Pinchy and the other 6 pets remain absent from our game.
COMBOS

César and Ugolin are limited-time characters that were released on January 31, 2017, as part of the Destination Springfield 2017 Event. Post
Bill and Marty, Barflies, Flanders parents, Weasels, Meathook and Ramrod, and Eliza and Lester remain absent from our games.
DOPPELGANGERS

ONE HIT WONDERS

Mr. Bergstrom, John, Karl, and Joey Jo-Jo Jr Shabadoo remain absent from our games.
GIRLS
Allison, Samantha, Britney, Mary, Nikki, Darcy, Francine, and Annika all remain absent from our games, so get crackin’ EA and find a way to release them into our games.
N.B. Mary Spuckler was added by popular demand into this conference and replaced Alaska Nebraska who is a limited-time character that was released on August 15, 2017, during the Homerpalooza Event.
WOMEN
Like Girls, none of the Women from the Bracket Battle have entered our game. Sarah Wiggum, Judge Harm, Gov. Bailey, Coach Pommelhorse, Ms. Glick, Bea, Jenda, and Gloria all remain absent from our games.
So 17 characters have entered our game thus far, including the winner of the title of Most Desired Character, Bleeding Gums Murphy. Of the 17, which one were you most excited to see? Most of you know I’d been rooting for the Nerds for several years, so to have Benjamin, Doug, and Gary in our games was my favourite from the past year. I always wished they added the Kwik e mart global CEO with the Kwik e mart global head quarters.
you know, the guy who granted Homer and Apu 3 questions in that classic episode.
But do you really want the KEM global CEO in our games? Really? Him?
First of all of like to say thank-you to Safi for his detailed post very cool. I just want to say in my opinion I want the original Simpson’s characters Sarah Wiggum, Wendell, bar flies, etc. Those are the Simpson’s… Smashing pumpkins not a Simpson, lady gaga not a Simpson, sexy pirate not a Simpson Alaska Nebraska, Ludicrous are not Simpson’s! They are celebrity appearances and don’t get me wrong it makes for a good episode for the show and I dig ’em but not Simpson’s. Now I do understand there is only so many original characters you can do but let’s collect them first.
The problem is, if EA just released them all first, like you say, then it would be harder to keep people playing after that. You don’t want people to feel like they’re just down to the dregs, with nothing highly desired to look forward to… I think that’s why they space those out, and put more “filler” characters in between.
I’m more of a traditionalist with the characters in my Springfield. I don’t remember Dr. Crab or several of the other characters from the superhero event ever being in a Simpsons episode. Or Cleatus the Fox football robot. I would rather any of the characters listed above over these. With the Homerplooza event I was hoping they might have been able to make the Smashing Pumpkins characters in the game, although I’m sure there maybe legal concerns with characters like that.
Keep an eye out for Wookiee’s “Where did that come from?” posts, in which he lets us all know which episode characters and objects that are new to the game are originally from. Almost all of the characters that are released have appeared on the show in at least one episode.
Not even ONE woman from the bracket battle made it into the game???
Besides the Phil Hartman characters, I think I want real Itchy and Scratchy as full characters more than anything next. (And Wendell, and…….) 😛

Its funny that most of these characters that have been added to the game are premium (except for César + Ugolin, Maurice and Sgt. Skinner before the Rommelwood Update). If EA added characters to the roads to riches as prizes then it might make it more worthy instead of just decorations and add some more friend point prizes like Bill and Marty for example since KBBL was a prize. Sarah Wiggum, Samantha Stankey and Mary Spukler are the 3 female characters that are my most desired, Bill and Marty, Mr Bergstrom and Roy are the 3 male characters that are my most desired.
Now THAT would make sense… not exactly EA’s forte!

I definitely approve of adding characters in the Roads to Riches prizes, just a matter of what characters could be picked to fit it since it seems to be themed similar to construction. And I also definitely agree about there needing to be more friend point prizes. I feel like Allison Taylor or Samantha Stankey would be good choices for that.
I really liked the friend point prizes because after major events it would be more of a reason to visit friend’s towns, the character prizes for the current friend points are mostly animals (Snowball II, Mr. Teeny, Stampy and Stewart Duck) and only one mascot (Capital City Goofball), so maybe the pets and mascots like Sir Oinks-A-Lot could be new friend point prizes characters, Roads to Riches characters could be high rank, hard working or iconic characters like Mary Bailey, Judge Harm or even Sam and Larry who are iconic.
That works, though we do have a costume for Lisa, so characters might still work, if not at least costumes. Mary Bailey would actually be perfect for Roads to Riches, thinking about it.
I, for one, won’t be happy until we get this guy in the game. 😅

Hard to beleive that more animals (and robots) made it into the game than women or girls…pretty blatantly biased, especially considering we outnumber you now. Think we may have a few mother issues with our animators? Where is Sara Wiggums? Get over it, guys…we ain’t ever going back to the “good old days”.
I really, really doubt that it’s a bias, with how pro-feminist the show is. The only “good old days” anyone with Tapped Out cares about is the older days of the show. Really, I feel the issue may just stem from them focusing more on adding characters for events or tie-ins.
The fact that all the tie-in and event characters pulled from the show are men, just substantiates the fact that women are not equally represented as leads or peripheral characters in the show…I don’t see that in any way pro-feminist. Feminism isn’t saying you support women or offering platitudes, it’s including and promoting them equally with male characters. This is something The Simpsons, and therfore TSTO, has never done.
But I still love the show and the game…sigh…🤷♀️.

That doesn’t mean one can’t want equal representation. People always want equal representation in fictional media, because that’s where a lot of influence over our lives comes from. I do agree that there’s not nearly enough female characters in the game from the show, I just don’t agree about it being about bias or “the good old days”.
Alaska Nebraska and Rachel Jordan don’t look like men to me, but maybe I’m just confused.

My ideas for new characters include Rita la fleur from gone abie gone should be added along with Isabell gutteriez , Jenny from the good the bad and the drugly , bachir and his parents and mr and mrs prince Mary spuckler should have been added with the homerpolloza event 😢😔😔
