Should I Spend Donuts on the Magic Monorail Station?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well looks like the Season Premiere tie-in may be doing a little magical teasing for the upcoming Halloween Event! EA dropped a Magical Monorail station in our games, in an apparent attempt to give us a little Halloween teaser…and, of course, to get us to drop some sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label, it can be tempting to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Magic Station to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Magical platform to your town…

Building/Decoration: Magic Monorail Station
Donut Cost: 80 Donuts
Earns: $200, 22xp/8hrs
Size:
 8×12
Conform-O-Meter:
Consumerism +10

Leaves stores October 2nd

Pros
-Another Monorail Station for Springfield
-Comes with more track (including straight pieces)
-Comes with short dialogue/quest

Cons
-Does not come with additional pieces (no platform/stairs), visually it’s as is.
-Pricey for just a Monorail Station, especially if you already have several

Note: I didn’t indicate anything on here as to if this will be helpful for the next event…because no one (Except EA) knows. We can speculate, but you’re purely taking a chance if you think it’ll help.

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
Many of you will grab this “just because it’s Harry Potter like”, and that’s ok.  You buy items/design your Springfield in a way that makes you happy and that you like.  So if you’re thinking about getting it because of that reason, go ahead and grab it.
But let’s not kid ourselves…it’s another Monorail Station for 80 donuts.  If you already have several and don’t need another one pass. (I still have 2 stations in my inventory I can’t figure out how to fit into my Springfield)
This will NOT be a requirement for the next event (if it’s even helpful for it at all).  EA wouldn’t make a premium item a requirement for an event.  At most this will help you earn event currency, at least it’ll just be something for Springfield to look cool. So try not to get too far ahead of yourself on this one.  If you like it, get it.  Otherwise, pass. This applies to both Premium and Freemium players.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can tell you I’ll likely pass on this one. As I said above I still have two Monorails in my inventory I can’t quite figure out how to use.  Plus, I’m not the biggest “pott-head” (as Wookiee calls them).  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the dialogue/tasks it comes with:

The Young Adult Station
Lisa starts

Lisa: Where did that monorail station come from?
Homer: My tax dollars wasted on another bloated city project destined for failure.
Lisa: No way. It looks too classy to be a Springfield city project. And by classy, I mean disturbingly British.  It reminds me of one of the many YA trilogies I’ve read, or it reminds me of all of them.
Make Lisa Go Through Her Book Collection- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp
Make Springfielders Ride the New Novelty Station- x3. 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp Freemium and $260, 70xp Premium

What are your thoughts on the Magic Station?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not? Where have you placed it in your Springfield? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. It’s a cool station, too bad it doesn’t come w/ other pieces or an option to get them like the North Pole Station. Anyone know if there’s a monorail station limit? I’ve seen up to 12 in some towns. Is there ever going to be a 3way connector to hook 1 line to another? Thanks!

  2. I only got “Stay on track. New prizes available on compilation.” after finishing this weeks Monorail. Didn’t get the Magic Station or any other stuff. Anyone else having this problem?

    • I did get to place the monorail station, double check to see if it is in your inventory. One thing I noticed is that I was able to complete 5 prize tracks. I made 25 donuts instead of just 5 last week. It helps pay itself back if that is a feature of the purchase.

  3. Love the change on the monorail, makes it so that anyone can farm donuts now…

  4. I haven’t spent any donuts in a whole but I’m honking of picking this up along with the krusty station. I only have the original and always want more and I know exactly where I’m putting them. I also hope they bring back the North Pole station lol.

  5. Bought it. I always love stations and more stations. The only station I lack now is Kristy station which is just not value for donuts. Even with the rebated cost of 100 donuts.

    • Also want to mention that you can go Railyard and keep on generating tracks for donuts. I think this will last for 3 days. During the magic station promo.

  6. I’ve bought this station, I think it’s great. Ice noticed that when it is facing towards the right, as in Alissa’s post, the tiny brown case on the right wobbles, as if there is something alive inside it trying to get out. Must mean something!

    • I checked, and with my station, that tiny brown case wobbles either way, when it’s on the left or the right (depending on the station orientation). I think it’s a nod to “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, as that’s a funny bit in that movie.

    • Good eye Philip! I actually made a new place for it (my monorail’s incomplete & in redesign h*ll at the moment) & was looking at it for quite a while, but didn’t notice that & I’m always looking out for new animations. I bet cpuworks is correct & it is a nod to the MBeasts movie. 🎥

  7. I kinda like the fact it’s a standalone Station. I’ve had the hardest trouble designing some of my other stations (especially with the goofy stair configuration. I like this to set it and forget it. It would look good in a Research Park with Montesaro, musuems, etc

  8. I’m also passing up on monorail…even tho I’d love to have it. I have over 150 of each monorail piece, last thing I need is 18 more pieces. Extra stairs and platforms would have been better. Also, I looked at others who had the monorail and there rails didn’t even line up properly with station. Missaligned art work?

    • No, except maybe on a single-pixel level, The “did not connect” problem was caused by stations being the wrong number of squares apart (by 1 either way). AFAIK the only solution was to move one of those stations so they’d connect. Once you get tunnels, there’s another problem, since they get placed on a coarser grid – every 2nd square, maybe – and thus if your current lines don’t quite match, again, you have to adjust everything 1 square to make it work. This is my understanding, anyway, and anyone else should feel free to correct/improve/expand this answer.

  9. Would love if they added a Y piece to the mix to the monorail can go in 2 directions at a fork in the road. I have perfected my monorail and have it flowing beautifully through the heights and Springfield, even have it going behind a hotel to make it feel like it is stopping there, to take care of the lack of another station. Don’t feel the need to add another station but a Y part would make adding one a lot easier a would make more sense as I expand towards the east.

  10. 💜 the look of this Station, I have room for one more – but EA blew it again! (no stairs? no platforms? NO BUENO!) 😐

  11. I bought it — no regrets!

The only thing I find odd is one aspect of the mini-quest… and this isn’t the first time I’ve noticed this, so it’s by no means unique to the Magic Station: The four hour task is for the “Springfielders” group of characters… and for some reason, that excludes about ~30ish of my characters from doing that task. (I have ~220ish characters, total.) I mean, I get that maybe it doesn’t make sense for *animals* to do certain group tasks… but does anyone know if there is there some logic behind Laird Lad (for example) being excluded from that group, while Steven Hawking is included?

    • It also does not pay at a premium for the missions. The She-She Lounge has the majority of my Springfielders going on a 4 hour premium mission as long as Patty does not finish her part of the task. Better deal IMHO.

  12. I love the monorail, imo the best addition to Springfield ever. The extra stations are nice, very useful to connect differently themed areas around Springfield. However the lack of extra stairs/platforms is disappointing, so I am not buying this one.
