Should I Spend Donuts on the Fantastical Beastarium?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Fall has arrived and there’s a haze over our Springfield’s, that can only mean one thing….it’s Halloween in our pocket-sized towns! This year EA’s thrown a little magic into the mix, with an Angelica Button theme invading our towns.  An all new event means loads of new premium items in our stores just tempting us to drop those donuts while they’re hot!

Of course with that limited-time label, it can be tempting to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Fantastical Beastarium to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this take on the Exotic Zoo to your town…

Building/Decoration: Fantastical Beastarium
Donut Cost: 75 Donuts
Size: 5×6
Earns: 100 /4hrs (likely will earn cash when event is over
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism +10
Other Info:
Can be placed on Grass|pavement|boardwalk|pier|dirt

Leaves stores November 14th

Pros
-Comes with some dialogue.
-Animated when in use. Flag waves, bunny runs around outside of it
-Earns extra event currency every 4hrs
-Wiggum has a permanent 4hr task there (Clean the Esquilax Cage)

Cons
-Pricey for just a “building”
-Design is more tent like than a building itself, could be hard to fit into Springfield

Final Thought
Premium:
Meh.  It’s not critical to complete the event, you’ll be successful in wand collecting with or without it, but if you like it grab it.

Freemium:
Pass.  Not necessary for the event and pretty expensive for just a building.  Save your donuts for character/building combos.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can tell you I’ll likely be passing.   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).  Also, this is one of those items that helps with the event.  So if you’re picking it up grab it sooner rather than later, so it can help you the most.  So if you’re planning on picking it up I’d do so by this weekend.  (but I still think you should skip it…)

Here’s a look at the dialogue it comes with…

Fantasical Beastarium
Homer starts

Homer: Kidnap the beasts?! We can’t take on those beasts without magic!
Moe: We could partner up and take the Exotic Zoo to the next level.  Whaddya say Chief?
Wiggum: What you are suggesting is extremely illegal…and I’m in!  As head member of the Fantasical Beastarium, I’m pretty nifty at handling rare and mystical beasts.  That includes the last Esquilax…and the last Ralphie.
Make Wiggum Clean Esquilax Cage- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp
Wiggum: Ah, the Esquilax. A dog with the head of a rabbit. And the body of a rabbit. Watch your backs, “Turner and Hooch”!  Our buddy-cop adventures begin today!

Completed earns 50, 10xp

What are your thoughts on the Fantastical Beastarium?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed it in Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Off topic but I need help.. tried the mystery box and I got fortune teller and the ghost but I didn’t get the option to place it or put on storage. It’s not in my storage or even in my springfield. So frustrating.

  2. I picked this up for nostalgia, when I was a kid our family went to a carnival that had side show tents like this – “the world’s smallest horse” and other fun but goofy things. It helping with the event is just a bonus.

  3. Got it and finally SVT with the 120 donuts deal!
Loving the event, second best Halloween we have had, thanks for the info, don’t stop writing to answer this. 8)

  4. Love it! Bought it. No regrets. Already purchased almost all the premium items. Huge Harry Potter fan!

  5. Why is magic scratcher no longer available
    Are you only allowed one

  6. I’m on the fence on this one, likely won’t need extra wands so it hinges on it’s after event earning potential.

  7. if anyone wants/needs to rush the event for wands, this is a fantastical way to do it….

  8. On a side note, I just noticed Sherri/Terri no longer require Bart for their 8 hour task. They have a new one “attend wizarding school.” Love this – hope it’s permanent! (Sorry if this has already been mentioned)

    • The payout is less though ☹

      • Most probably because the Wizard School involves just Sherri/Terri, a single character,
While the other involves Bart, a second character, or two characters total.

        • It earns at a premium rate that a single premium character would earn at. The twins earn at a super premium rate, which this job does not reflect. Same goes for the 6 hour Go to School job, their 4 hour job earns more than that one so seems like bad coding on the programmers.

  9. I always check SIB posts even though there are a couple of items I know I’ll but regardless (Bleeding Gums Murphy) and others I know will be a hard pass regardless (this tent). Have to say that so far I’m a little nonplussed about this event. The structure is the same boring stuff we all agreed we were over and the theme is not my bag. So far nothing in the store has tickled my fancy either. Oddly unlike it seems everyone else I at least like a few of the crafting items, mostly because I had a break over last Halloween and have coveted some things I’ve seen in neighbours towns. Unless the prizes in the next two phases are better I suspect I won’t complete them.

I’m a bit confused about the wig hum beast though, what’s the point having another beast when so there’s only 4 characters that can battle them? Am I missing something?

    • Once you capture the beast you no longer battle them (Safi’s post is coming out in about an hr). They still earn currency, but not as much.

  10. ThatOneWeirdTap

I’m going to pass. Saving my remaining 62 donuts for Snorky (Please return!) or Witch Marge until I get 120 donuts from the SVT bonus.

  11. Do we know what the additional decorations are unlocked when Wiggops station is purchased? SIB? Love the work you all do on this site. Addicts for life 🙂

    • It’ll be on that SIB post. It’s coming. Anything that’s important to gameplay/will help you with game play I try to cover in SIB posts before the first weekend if i can. So Wiggops is coming, as is Angelica Button.

  12. Based on not being able to play much in the next 4 days, I went ahead and picked it up for the extra currency. I probably don’t need it, but thought I would get it just in case. Plus with my KEM farm I had some donuts to spare.

  13. Slightly off topic but when I visit neighbours it says tap goblins for goblin gold but all I am getting is XP & cash. ?? Any ideas? 🇬🇧😩

    • You should get goblin gold and wands for the first few actions you complete every 24 hours, after you have reached that point in the questline.

It’s possible you either haven’t reached that point or you’ve already collected your quota for the day and are now on cash and XP only.

      • Thanks Safi, any idea of daily action quotas.

      • I had some tech troubles after all the waiting for the update so basically only started yesterday (18 hours or so ago and not slept yet !! ) so unlocked friends actions earlier at last.
It seems like 1 Wand and 1 Goblin Gold for the first 44 taps or 14 and 2/3 neighbours with the last tap not paying rewards as per my usual experience for some reason !!
Even so I’m 4 hours away from the third prize and 12 hours away from completing the questline but did spend donuts for a change.

        • The third and fourth prize look really cool in Springfield.

        • I noticed this too! They FINALLY fixed the annoying “glitch” wherein it SAID you’d get currency for your next 90 Friend Actions, but you really only got 89 – the last few Events you actually got whatever it said.

NOW it’s all messed up again – not only is the last one “missing” again, but when you tap on the info on the main neighbors page, it turns the whole page blue (instead of popping up a dialog box) AND there’s no ‘countdown’ box in the lower left corner when you visit friends anymore! You know, where it tells you how much Event Currency you’ve earned, and you can tap it to find out how many Actions you have left to earn Event Currency?

WTH, EA??! What is going on over there?!

          • I always forget about that feature anyway…i just tap in my friendvilles until I notice that I’ve stopped earning event currency (if it’s an event where my tapping in a neighbor’s town doesn’t give them any benefit, like in this event).

  14. what is kem farming?

      • I have known and read about KEM 🚜 several times but i still do not know how to pull it off. To me the the process is very confusing.

        • Here’s a simplified explanation of Kwik-E-Mart farming…

The basic premise is that you buy a bunch of Kwik-E-Marts and then, after four hours, when they’re done building and you tap on their check marks (Kaboom!), you earn a bunch of XP. Earning XP helps you to level up. Every time you level up, you earn donuts. (If you’re under level 939, you earn one donut for each level-up. Once you reach level 939, you get a set of bonut boxes, instead, meaning you can earn three donuts instead.) Then you sell the Kwik-E-Marts back to recoup 25% of what you initially spent to buy them, and start the process over again.

There are three key additional pieces of info you need to have…

First, how much XP you earn is dependent on your bonus multiplier (and your “hidden” XP bonus multiplier you get from buying and placing Springfield Heights buildings). The higher your multiplier, the more successful your farming will be at earning donuts. So, you may want to plow some of your farmed donuts into buying items that increase your multiplier.

Second, you’ll want to invest in running the collider. If you’re going to Kwik-E-Mart farm several times a day, every day, spend the 25 donuts to get the 10-day charge. This multiplies all XP earnings by 5.

Third, the reason to farm Kwik-E-Marts, in particular, is because, if you farm the right number of them, you can do it without depleting your cash reserves. (The “right number” is however many you can buy with the amount of cash you earn each day from collecting on tasks and buildings and such.)

If you don’t feel like doing all of this, you have a good stockpile of cash, and you don’t mind a lower return, you can farm rat trap trucks or bloodmobiles instead. To do that, you just buy them, place them, and sell them back right away (since there’s no build time). If you go that route, then you probably only want to buy one day’s worth of collider use.

          Does that help?

  15. David Billington

I agree with Brookes… I’ve got a large area that’s a sort of hippy style market with tents and stalls etc and it will fit right in with the area after the event

  16. Grabbed it due to serious Kem farming leading up to Halloween.
Had 1004 donuts. Bought all 7 chest pack items and the beastarium. Down to 450 now but should be high again before act 2 lands.

  17. I think this will look good amongst the pagan tents we got last Christmas and I like the bunny running around the edge so I got it 🐇

I agree it’s not needed for the event currency. Seems simple enough 🎃
