Should I Spend Donuts on Black Magic Hall?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Fall has arrived and there’s a haze over our Springfield’s, that can only mean one thing….it’s Halloween in our pocket-sized towns! This year EA’s thrown a little magic into the mix, with an Angelica Button theme invading our towns.  An all new event means loads of new premium items in our stores just tempting us to drop those donuts while they’re hot!

Of course with that limited-time label, it can be tempting to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Black Magic Hall to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this dark magic spot to your town…

-Comes with dialogue and a short questline

Cons
-Pricey for a stand-alone building
-Does not appear that there is a permanent task there

Final Thought
Premium:
Literally the same response to this as the Mess Hall….Meh.  Another building for Springfield, and your magical area.  I do think this is overpriced and underperforms, so personally, I’d save my donuts. But if you’re into this magical stuff and really working on building your Spellementary Academy then go for it…but there’s no real practical reason to pick it up beyond that. Not even a permanent task.

Freemium:
Pass.  True Freemium players should pass on this one and save your donuts for character/building combos.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I’ll be passing.  Just doesn’t seem worth the donuts.   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the questline…

The New Home Economics
Skinner starts

Skinner: Looks like we have a new favorite elective among the students.  Kids are dropping Home Economics, and picking up wands to attack each other.
Miss Hoover: What should we do about it?
Skinner: Nothing.  There were more oven explosions in Home Ec. than this wand witchcraft.
Make Kids Point Powerful Wands at Each Other- x3. Earns $260, 70xp

What are your thoughts on the Black Magic Hall? Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed it in Springfield? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Black Magic Hall
    Mess Hall

Once upon a time, these would’ve been Event Prizes OR Craftables (they’re not worth spending Donuts on, unless extremely discounted).

EA has got to do something to improve this Event in Act 2 / Act 3 or I predict my Neighboreeno levels will drop again.

  2. I bought this one. I like it. It’s next to the mess hall. I like that they don’t match because it suggests evolution over time, giving the campus a sense of history.
Somewhat inconsistently, I haven’t bought Angelica and the Library. I don’t like/want the character (although another female child is a good thing) so am left debating whether to pay 150 for a building. I also decided against the Burns dragon. Although I really wanted him, the price wasn’t right and not having a building put me off.

  3. I agree that this isn’t worth it for freemium players whose donuts are precious. I bought it and like it (buying stuff like this also gives me and my game characters something to do while waiting for the next act), so I’d have no problem recommending out for anyone who’s “donut comfortable,” either through farming or because spending money on the game isn’t really a hardship for them.

  4. I thought it would look nice next to the charmer’s market, and it did, so I bought it.

  5. Noooooooooo …… I just purchase yes item by mistake. I was tapping away too fast. My sprinkles my dear sprinkles. Now I know why people need to change the settings to confirm the spending of donuts! 😨 .. 😱 .. 😰 .. 😭!

  6. I went to check it out at one of my completionist neighbors towns before making it a hard no. EA sure is making it easy to save my donuts on the campus by not having the buildings go well together. 😈

  7. meh very adequately describes my feeling to this entire event

  8. for the scenario its a cool thing, but very pricy.
i got it but would think about saving Ds next time…

  9. I like that it has a small footprint. So many buildings lately seem to be so big.

I had planned to create a nice magical area, but there are too many buildings, like the mess hall, that will cost too many donuts when you add it all up.
I wish some of these had been craftable, rather than recycling a lot of old crafting content. As it is, I’d rather save the sprinkles for characters and anything from classic episodes that might pop up…

  11. Also much like the Mess Hall building, I won’t be buying this one. I’m splurging on Tentacle Trees though for their 1% bonus at a net 10 donut cost. I’m hoping to get 30-40 of them before they’re gone in a few days!

    • Unless you want to create a forest of squid trees better buy mystery boxes. The news vans and billboards are much smaller and can be hidden behind buildings – or just fit into your regular town design.

I got 2 and have no idea where to place more of them.

      • I made an island for Death Mountain with 7 squid trees and a crashed space ship…have been making an archipelago of “places for the maladjusted and just plain bats**t crazy”. 5 islands so far, the next will be for the dragon.

        • 🤣 Dont forget the dirt road, else the dragon will walk away – over water. Not so astounding taking into account that quantum mechanics are working in macroscopic dimensions. How else is there to explain the tunneling of whole characters (and NPCs as well) through solid buildings?

        • I made a huge forest way at the back of my Springfield and all the weird items are going there (Ski Lift, Death Mountain, Mad Doctor’s Castle, Volcano Lair, UFO). Once more rows of land are added above I’ll make a second part of my Springfield North of the forest.

  12. At least some of these buildings should have been prize track and not premium. If I had gotten a few buildings free I might have bought more to finish my castle. Now? Won’t bother buying any.

  13. EA is missing the buck, here. This building and the mess hall are just over priced and, honestly, lazy buildings for the price. I wouldn’t mind adding them to Springfield for ~50…but 70+ isn’t realistic. They’re too…monotonous. They just blend in for that price. Couple that with really weak animations and it’s just a pass.

  14. WOO HOO…..CUBS WIN! (sorry…too tired when it actually happened lol)

  15. Remember when some buildings where still sold for in game money and not d’oh(nuts)? Me neither.
