THOH XXVIII Prize Guide: Act 2, Prize 4 Giant Crystal Ball

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Fall has arrived and there’s a haze over our Springfield’s, that can only mean one thing….it’s Halloween in our pocket-sized towns! This year EA’s thrown a little magic into the mix, with an Angelica Button theme invading our towns. We’ve got beasts to battle, creatures to capture, wizards to wand wave and goblin gold to gather! Quite a few alliteration altercations huh?

This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Acts containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the second act, you’re tasked with collecting Fairy Dust     () to unlock each prize!

The fourth Act 2 Prize awarded at 9,400 is the Giant Crystal Ball, because you can’t have a magical event without a giant magic ball….

So let’s take a closer look at this fourth prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…

Once you’ve collected 9,400  you’ll automatically be awarded the magic crystal ball and you’ll see this message popup:

And you’ll have the option to place the Crystal Ball in your Springfield or store it in your inventory for later.  If you place it you’ll see a little bit of dialogue that appears:

Weapon of Mass Surveillance
Quimby starts

Quimby: Use monies for my “Floozie” fund to hire some laborers to move this into my office. Better yet, just borrow an elephant from the city zoo and have the floozies meet me in my office as well.
Tap Giant Crystal Ball

And that’s it.  Nothing else to earn, just place, tap, and move on.

Here are the quick details:

Size: 2×2
Earns: Nada.  Just a decoration, but i’m sure one day they’ll bring it back and charge donuts for it.  At that point, it’ll probably earn a small bonus %.  But, until that day comes…it doesn’t earn a thing.
Conform-O-Meter:
Vanity +100
What Does It Do: Animated when tapped, green “magic dust” emits from it.  That’s about it..honestly, pretty lackluster.

And there you have it, the details behind the Giant Crystal Ball….the 4th THOH XXVII Act 2 prize!

What’s Next?

Technically 500 Goblin Gold is next at 13,200, but since that’s not a tangible prize for Springfield, just additional crafting currency.  The next prize we’ll cover is…

Ye Olde Magick Shoppe- Awarded at 17,000. This will be the next prize we break down in the prize guidepost.

What are your thoughts on the Crystal Ball? Safe to assume you’ve unlocked it by now?  Where have you placed it in your Springfield? Or will it forever be in storage? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Giant Crystal Ball

Disappointed that most of the Prizes earned in this Event are going into Storage (EA blew it this Halloween!) 👎

  2. Really not sure on this event and once you’ve done the beasts how on how are you gone get the stuff in act three with one beast ???

  3. MydadlookslikeFlanders

One word explains this item in my opinion… Lackluster

    • MydadlookslikeFlanders

I just read your explanation Alissa and you said lackluster too to explain this item. That word came to my mind immediately. LOL! So true

  4. Not sure where to put this comment, but I keep seeing this new Lard Lad Donut decoration with neighbors’ Halloween stuff. Just the donut, not the building. Where is this coming from? I can’t find it anywhere.

  5. Ok i get nothing from the crystal ball what next?

  6. Alias de la plume

I keep forgetting that there is an event
It is a very underwhelming and not very story driven that I can get done in less then 30 seconds

Just waiting for Christmas hopefully to come in November/December

  7. Hmm. As a long time player I understand the issues you’re bringing up. Certainly it doesn’t feel like a THOH style event. And the crafting is definitely lame since it’s largely recycled stuff.

That being said, I think the mechanics related to beast taming is a nice idea and provides a change of pace. I also like the new characters and the look of the new buildings.

So for me, this is by no means the worst event ever and is enough of an improvement over the grind of the past few events to make me more optimistic about the future of the game.

    • I agree…it isn’t the worst. It IS grind-intensive…but, the primary gripe I have is clutter. So…much….clutter. My storage unit overfloweth.

      • Mine too. I wish EA would do 2 things around that. One is to allow for any bonus multipliers to apply whether or not something is in storage. The other is a much better way to find things given the rather large number of items I’ve accumulated.

      • I haven’t looked yet but I’m guessing the beast decorations must not be sellable then. C’mon EA! You need to make these mini game prizes and a lot of other items available to sell!!!

  8. I was feeling kind of dissapointed with this event so far. I started playing on january 2017, so most of the crafting items are new to me, but still didn’t like the theme and felt kinda dragged on. That, until i saw that the frogurt guy was coming. it just arrived, insta-buy, now I’m happy with all of this lol.

  9. Well guys I have decided this is the end for me . If it wasn’t for the addicts I would have shut the game down a while ago.
Good luck to you all & I hope you get a great Christmas event.

    • Wow halfway through huh? Not even gonna stick it out to see what’s next?

      • I will keep in touch with the Addicts posts but the holiday event will have to be pretty good to bring me back. By the way have shut down FWOT as well, just using up too much of my time.

  10. I agree with ya Anthony this is by far one of the worst events that EA has released. Boring and soooo dragged out. Big turn off for me. All the prizes are lame and so much is going to be stored that i amy just forget about this event.

  11. Is it just me, or does anyone else think this is the worst THOH quest line ever? I have been playing for years now and this is the least interesting one yet. So many of the prizes are things from other quest lines (covered bridge for example) that this holds no interest for me.

    • It is my first THOH… my smartphone was broken from superheroes to last 3 days of Homerpalooza, and compared to the other events I played, yes, this one feels empty.
I statted playing from the last 2 weeks of destination springfield, my first ingame purchases with cash were with traveling time toaster (gil deal of exp collider, shelbiville manhantan and jeremiah springfield). I got lemon tree as a sorry from EA after darkspore servers closed but i had no smartphone to play TSTO until this year (EVERYTOWN was being played in an alcatel one touch).
Maybe this sounds irrelevant but i had been making 10 USD donuts purchases since Traveling time toaster for each event they do. In homerpalooza i bought the missing pop scenario (sadly it did not help that much, i just was able to craft a few turfs nd other stuff, but did not reach bonuts or weird al yankovik) .
If i was able to get something for heroes it would had been clover girl.
But in this event i have no will to buy anything with real money, all i had bought were 10 donuts trees and wiggops and this last one was because i thought bullyvern would be 215 donuts packed with mage Frink (just Frink costume without lab, stucking quest for those without it, like Mayan Marge stuck in my Springfield because there was no mayan Homer at Traveling Time Toaster).
All I want is Angelica Button just because that episode is one of my post-S16 favorites (which are ultra rare to find) but that is all. And to tell the truth i have no rush to get her, i am just a few bonuts (like 111 or something like that) and I am busy at work this entire week. So i will probably unlock her next week with KEM farm, finish whatever third week quest is. Standby both her and greystache quests for prize track currency and recover the donuts i need for the hippie and Gasper.

    • Same here, just counting the days till Christmas and saving all my donuts

    • The theme is decent, but the execution is horrible. Virtually nothing to do other than send a few characters on tasks ever four hours and collect goblin gold. The crafting is also terrible as it is mostly retreads or slight variations of things already in the game (e.g. castle pieces).
