THOH XXVIII Act 2 is Nearing the End…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just a reminder that Act 2 of the Halloween/THOH/Magical Event/Angelica Button Event/Harry Potter Event…whatever the heck you wanna call it…Ends TOMORROW October 31st at 0800 GMT (4am ET).

Once the Act 2 is over you will no longer be able to earn Fairy Dust Prizes for free. So get everything you can before it’s all gone! (but remember to keep earning wands if you haven’t unlocked all of the prizes because the closer you get to unlocking the next prize the lower the donut cost would be should you need to purchase it when the next Act starts…)

Crafting will STILL be available in the next Act,  As will the Goblin Gold you’ve accumulated.

For a rundown on everything that was included with Act 2 check out our rundown post here.

Be ready for the Act 3 to start bright and early at 0800 GMT (4am ET) tomorrow morning  (October 31st)….

  1. Is anyone else having issues with the daily quests? It can go days without having a quest then three days worth will pop up then none for up to at least 8 days. I’ve emailed EA but nothing. Thanks

  2. Thanks for the Bonuts EA (about the only positive side to this Event)

Please DO get Greystash (funniest Character Prize in a looong time)

It’s not that Crafting sucked this time, it’s the fact 1/3 of the Craftables can’t be obtained by Long-time Tappers (well, maybe it did suck this time, because there was no article written about Crafting during this Event here at tsto addicts)

The Harry Potter parody is cool, but should have been done in November (Halloween = Treehouse of Horror, this Event isn’t Treehouse of Horror themed)

Kem Farming is helping me obtain prior Halloween stuff at Discount (very happy for that)

    Happy Halloween everyone

  3. are the only way to get dust in act II from Kearneymon’s alley, Lewd’s bar, and crawl’s bar? I can’t put any characters to work….

  4. I’m just under 1000 to get to Greystach though with my next 4 hour collection and I might have to use a daily challenge I was saving for act 3 with it. Outside of that I reach the final crafting level and just unlocked the Courtyard to craft but like Patric I have to save up the gold to get to it, I agree with Renee that the crafting is not that good this time, EA could have the final crafting prize be a unique decoration that offers a bonus payout or a building in the next event for example.

  5. i am halfway done enchanting my greystache. should i just stop and save it for Act3 currency??

  6. So, I am pretty unmotivated by this event and as a result I am a bit off to meet the deadline to unlock Greystash. I will see how low I can get the Donut Rush option (it currently is sitting at 55). Should I spend the donuts to get him? What say you all that have unlocked the final prize?

    • How many fairy dusts away are you? You can rush a beast Release for 2 donuts and get 100 fairy dust. So if you are under 2700 fairy dust away, you could rush 27 beast Releases for 54 donuts and save a donut. If it costs 55 donuts, I’m assuming you are even less than 2700 fairy dust away.

  7. Unpopular opinion: I love this event! The only thing I hate is the craftables. They suck.

    • i don’t love it, that’s for sure…. but it’s nice to see someone not whining about it endlessly. craftables do suck for the most part (unless you’re a new player that doesn’t have the returning unique ones yet), but i’m a big fan of the hanging streetlamps, and had run out from last halloween…. so i will be investing most of my goblin gold into plenty of those.

  8. I think I averaged two logins per day, and I got Greystache yesterday. Very relaxed event, which is good because work has been busy for me.

  9. Arrrrggg The torture continues another 14 days of this…… Get to the point I’m giving serious consideration to trying the family guy game!!!

  10. Does complaining about the event make it end faster? In order to not read the same regurgitated complaints for the next 2 weeks do I have to just stop checking in here? Jesus, people. Either stop playing until the event is over or just shut up about it already.

    • well said neighboreeno, was thinking the same thing myself this morning….

    • Since you brought up Jesus I would like to add my 2 cents to these 40 days and 40 nights events.
The number 40 shows up often in the Bible. Because 40 appears so often in contexts dealing with judgment or testing, many scholars understand it to be the number of “probation” or “trial.” This doesn’t mean that 40 is entirely symbolic; it still has a literal meaning in Scripture. “Forty days” means “forty days,” but it does seem that God has chosen this number to help emphasize times of trouble and hardship.
To me this sums up these long events. 😇

      • Deeeeep! But, I agree. They are starting to feel like being lost in the wilderness.

      • Tracy-1ltwoody920

Aren’t there 40 players allowed on the active list?
Goliath challenged the Jews for 40 days
Spies wandered the Jewish homeland for 40 days
Mohammed was 40 when he received his first word/ inspiration

40 is kinda, sorta umpteenth, a longish period…..
        A neatoo number
        At least by my reckoning…

      • 😂😂

  11. It will be good to see what comes next. I was disappointed with the courtyard. It was a focus for me and I was hoping that it could be placed over intersections like the decoration from the secret agent event. Regrettably it appears it can’t and it’s too small – 6 by 6 for those who haven’t got it. Pretty enough and I’m the only one to blame for my expectations, but disappointing.
In terms of completing the event, I received Greystache a few days ago but will fall about 1500 short of the third round of bonuts. I kept sending my five Beasts in order to get the gold to build my first courtyard – but between the duplicated items filling up my inventory and the above mentioned disappointment at the courtyard, I have some very small, niggling regrets at doing so.

    • I was going to save BullyVern for act 3 then decided to go all out for Bonuts and was praying for a 600 task today with no luck,
I’ll hit around 9800 toward Bonut #4 by midnight so a late night or risk setting an alarm for daft o’clock with a view to collecting and releasing ready to claim for act 3, and leave the 200 task for tomorrow too.
( it’s just after 7pm in the UK, so claim around 4am-ish and they’re ready for 8am and act 3 )

    • If you haven’t tried it yet, it actually goes really well with concrete underneath it and the hedges coming out of the sides of it on top of the edges of the concrete. I’ll try and upload a picture here later of mine once my battery is less than dead and I figure out how to upload it here :/

  12. Calling this event THOH is more than a bit of a stretch.

    Hopefully Act 3 delivers…something.

  13. Sorry to sound negative, but this event is tortuously long and boring. I feel like I’m on auto-pilot. I can’t wait for it to end. Worst-event-ever.

    • It’s better than Clash of Clones, though I realise that’s very much damning with faint praise. I’m going to sit out the last Act (unless there’s something actually Halloweeney in it) and just do monorail stuff to get doughnuts/donuts with a view to saving up for Christmas.

  14. I didn’t see a crafting post, and since I’m not flush with crafting currency I need to ask. Is the Magical Essence Sucker worth 2160 of my currency? Or, should I abandon saving up for this? Thanks!

    • If it means anything… I skipped it. I’m saving for the courtyard decoration.

    • Funny little animation but not worth the goblin snot.

    • I purchased a Magical Essence Sucker mainly in order to level up so I could get a Courtyard. Now saving up for a 2nd Courtyard.

    • I would say no if you’re short on currency unless you really want it for some reason.

    • i think like any item in this game that doesn’t have a payout or bonus, it just depends on whether you have an idea for where you can place it in your town right now, or see the potential in having it to design with in the future. i like having unique items in my sf, and crafted it to place next to the hellementary school. just one though… don’t need more than that.

    • Tracy-1ltwoody920

The MES is small, 2×2. Don’t remember the size of the courtyard, but I prefer it.

    • I would skip it for now….it’s not that great, and you can always come back and get it later, if you end up with excess currency.

  15. I believe I read at some point from Alissa that act 3 might possibly take a turn. Though I have had oodles of fun this far, I am ready for the twist. Excited to see what happens in game tomorrow!

  16. I did a test during this act. My main town, which has all of the wizards, the tent, and all beast but the Burns Dragon vs. my B-Town with only Angelica Button and the free beasts.

Main town: Logged in every day on a 4-hour schedule when possible, have Lisa and Bart doing 50-fairy dust tasks (on tasks that require someone else to finish, allowing me to send them for currency). Got Greystache last Wednesday (or maybe it was Tuesday, forgot to make a note on the exact time). Canceled any daily task that was for 200 fairy dust at least once to get a 600 payout. It was a little annoying until the final prize, but then I had a lot of downtime that gave me a break from the daily grind. Now have two 600s and one 200 daily task banked (might get rid of that 200 to see what I get tomorrow), as well as Bullyvern waiting to be fought and enchanted.

Oh, I think I had three rounds of bonuts. That 10000 goal is a little high…

B-Town: Logged in less often. At least twice a day, missed a few. Tried for 600 payouts, but if I didn’t get them, I’d just do the 200. Got Greystache yesterday. Wasn’t as annoying, though I did wonder on Saturday if this plan would keep me from getting the final prize. Got one 200 and one 600 banked (almost used them the other day when I thought I’d miss Greystache).

So…if you like to have a nice little cushion of time and assure yourself all of the prizes, grind away. But this also might be the first event in a while that didn’t require constant logging-in to finish. You may just have a little anxiety towards the end there, but you also won’t need to set aside a few minutes every 4 hours 😄

    • I completed the first act with 7 days to spare. I had Angelica but nothing else, apart from free beasts. Act 2 I just completed. I only had beasts and SVT getting event currency so once the main quest was finished my income dropped. Strange that premium stuff like Angelica and Martins skin generate nothing, nor the unicorn, once the questline is done. Usually it’s the other way round in these events. I struggle with the first act, just make the second one and then act three is easy. I’m now wondering if I won’t complete act 3. But then I’m not sure I want another beast and a bunch of decorations…

      • Yeah, there does seem to be an increase in difficulty between these first two acts. My B-town has a few more days to spare last Act.

        Good luck on the third!

  17. I only hope the limitless inventory will not fill up 🙁

  18. Ready for Christmas 👀 I played but this event wasn’t a favorite of mine.

  19. I second the above. Accumulating all these absolutely nonsense items each time I need event currency is a joke, I have 14 chaise lounges if anyone needs one for their house. Absolutely ridiculous. I have more mead that I could consume in real life. Worst event yet for accumulating currency and by the end of act 3 I and everyone else will have tons more useless items in our inventories.
The sooner it ends the better. Amen.

    • it would be nice if we could at least sell them instead of cluttering up our already cluttered inventory.

    • Yeah. I agree. What was EA thinking? It’s not like these “prizes” do anything for our towns. Couldn’t EA realize how much crap was going straight into our inventories, never to be used? What a waste.

  20. Yay! This event is almost at an end 😀
