Look. I’m kinda done trying to “make happy” about this update. I think even the most ardent “Potter-Heads” are feeling like they are stuck in a Ground Hog Day version of the Harry Potter ride at Universal Studio, and can’t get off…while it loops endlessly…until you want to shove your magic wand deep into your eye sockets.
Ok. Maybe that is too harsh. But, I am really, really, really, really bored with the “EAsy” version of a major update, that simply requires you to log in every 4 hours…clear the slate…and go back to your life. *POOF!* Magic. Meh. Whatever.
But…you will still want the numbers you need to hit to “get it all,” which you should with days to spare. Here ya go!

I’m so bored with this event I got behind because I forgot to ‘release’ all the guys who have been enchanted every 4 hours. I was only taking care of the Burns wizard guy. Christmas had better be good or I’m done after being in this game from the beginnings on Android. Boo!
I disagree, I have had reaching the goals since the last Act. The first time in years that I haven’t reached the final prize. Why? Because the last few events have been so boring that I don’t want to even waste 10 minutes of my life every 4 hours to get the same prizes as the last few years. I was hoping the last few lame events meant they were working on something amazing for Halloween. If EA keeps this boring event through Christmas, I’ll finally be done tapping every few hours after almost 5 years.

Is it so much to ask that the Halloween event stops extending 2 weeks BEYOND actual Halloween? How hard is it to time things?
Brian, the events are around 6 weeks long. If it ended on or right after Halloween, it’d start in early September. I’m kinda thankful that at least somewhere in the cyber world it isn’t already Christmas. I’ve been seeing black Friday ads for two weeks already🙄
Meaning? That I am taking so damn much real life time to explain why it takes so much time to farm? Yes…that is the irony of being a blogger. We invest countless hours into advising people on how to spend time.
A bit early to be posting my design, but I’m starting a new job on Monday and I may forget by the time the showoff rolls around.
I was really tickled about this event and had no qualms about spending precious donuts on the premium items to complete my wizarding world designs. I also rewatched the first 6 HP movies in case there were any decorations I had in storage that would also fit into the theme 😈 Some of the elements I’ve featured are: Diagon Alley and a spooky corner for Knockturn Alley, Hogsmeade, the Shrieking Shack, a semblance of a Quidditch field, Hagrid’s Hut and pumpkin patch, and the Herbology green house with counter tops for repotting Mandrakes. There are a couple other little Easter eggs in my design to keep an eye out for as well, feel free to click the image to zoom in 😉

The only thing I have to say is…it is an AMAZING homage to Potter…just weirdly out of place as a Halloween in Springfield.

Looks great. 🙂 I wish I had those sports event seats / bleachers, hope they come back during some next sports event (Olympic Games, Superbowl, Football World Cup… hope EA brings those seats back) since I also work on a Harry Potter area including a Quidditch pitch (will take time, I need land, redo most of my Springfield etc but my love for Harry Potter motivates me to do it). 🙂 In case you add or change something in your Harry Potter area, I’d be glad to see it. 🙂
Thanks! I also found that the tall banners from the pagan event last year looked good as house banners around the quidditch field. I have them in my design at the moment in place of some of the walls but it is a bit lopsided because there are only 3 varieties rather than 4.

Thank you! I used the superbowl football field and then placed stand-alone football uprights on either side of the built-in ones. I believe the stand-alone football uprights were from the Tap Ball event but I’m not 100% sure.
GAme will be pulled before Christmas. . It’s dead. I want to be wrong but I see no creativity and no enthusiasm any more. The addicts are all who remain and if any are like me, they deleted the game to make a lot more room on their phone.

Partly disagree. An event that is not too hard is great! Many people work and pay taxes, let us have the possibility to complete an event.
It would have been much more engaging if EA hadn’t been so lazy.
They could have given us most of the stuff they sell for Donuts since before the event started (Mess Hall) as CRAFTABLES. That would have been more engaging. And characters like Angelica or the dragon should be earned during the event.
They could have given us the Magic Station as a reference to King’s Cross platform 9 3/4 for free. Next, you need to build a magic castle.
Then get the Sorcerer’s Stone and unlock Angelica. Beat a troll and the Bully-vern to unlock Werewolf Flanders as your next enemy. Beat him and he is your friend. Next up, win Quidditch matches to unlock the Goblet of Fire. It takes you to a maze. Make it through it before 3 other students can do it and battle the reincarnated Lord Montymort. After the battle, get pupils and teachers on your side incl. a Snape knockoff for the final battle against death eaters, Slithers, bullys (as little Slytherin knockoffs) and Montymort.
THAT would have been an event.
A Harry Potter theme is an awesome idea. EA’s execution is just not as good as we expect it from a Harry Potter or Halloween event.
But overall I like the event because I use its items and old ones to create a Harry Potter inspired world.
This is an amazing idea and I wish that this was the case.

What you posted was a great idea for the update. This one is lazy…easy…and boring.
I agree that EA was lazy, leaving tons of potential untouched and feeding us lots of old stuff and things that don’t have anything to do with Harry Potter, but I disagree that this event is “easy” and that that were a bad thing. It’s not in my eyes. I can’t hide in the restroom to hunt stuff in a game. If the game does not make it possible to get all freemium stuff by spending 2 minutes 4 times a day, then it’s not possible for many people due to work. It should not be harder than this. Better planned for more fun but not harder. There are other games for people who need more of a challenge, I have an Xbox 360 with Kinect, Fable III, Michael Jackson Experience, WWE 2K14, Kinect Adventures and Sims 3 in great special and uncut editions for sale (much value, low price), if you are interested. 😉 That will have you never be bored again. 🙂
I agree that events should not be harder. More creative, engaging, entertaining–but not harder.

I’m OK with this event. I love how I can build another castle, and I love the street lights! I’m a big Harry Potter fan, but not a big Halloween fan. I don’t like the holiday at all, I don’t like the Tree House of Horrors episodes, and I don’t like the creepy Halloween items offered in the game every year. So, I know, I know.. I’m in the minority here.. But that’s me. I have always been an individualist who marches to the beat of a different drummer.
Me too, with the exception, that I like Halloween and old (I’m a Simpsons season 2 – 8 fan) TOH episodes, but I’m also usually different from most other people. 😉
How did you use the streetlights? Hogsmeade does not have any, or does it?

Yay.. a fellow individualist! I used the street lights in my Paris area. They looked so French to me. I have been collecting all my walls, towers and such, and will design my area after the event is over. I need more land before I can do my Potterland justice.
I (for one) like the battle Montymort part. I do a four hour grind anyway so it is no different than say Tuesday.
Just KEM farming for Angelica Button right now… if i had known that bullyvern was free before I would had not gotten Wiggops.
Now i have Barfly roaming around completely ignored and i am not behimd the calendar at all.
Sorcerer frink is 100 donuts but i will still get Angelica just because I love that episode

I figured this “Magic terminal” would somehow be used in the Halloween/magic event but… I don’t see it’s being used at all? If that’s true, why push it out just before Halloween…seems misleading at best?

It is… but as a “monorailist” I was happy for another station. This one is right next to my Potterville area.
