THOH XXVIII 101: Battle for Springfield

Welcome wonderful Wizards, Witches (with & without worts), Warlocks, Wiccans, & Werewolves!

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “W”)

Hope you’re ready to trick or treat because the THOH XXVIII Halloween Event has arrived in Springfield! And boy do I have some TRICKS to help TREAT you to a big jump in the Event! One new aspect introduced in Act 3 of the Halloween Event is the Battle for Springfield.

Battle for Springfield:

So in this Act, similar to the secondary task of Beast Enchanters in all three Acts, you’ll be tasked with sending characters or beasts on a tertiary task.  In this case it’s Battle for Springfield, where they will defeat Normal or Giant Lord Montymort.

From the Event Hub or in the top right of your screen, click on the Beast Tamer icon  to send characters or beasts to Battle for Springfield.

Battle of Springfield Characters and Beasts:

Battle of Springfield is initially a battle similar to Beast Enchanters, but with your characters battling Lord Montymort instead of beasts. This begins during The Vestige Pt. 1 task.

Characters that can battle Lord Montymort include:

  • Wizard Lisa
  • Wizard Bart
  • Magic Act Milhouse
  • GreyStash
  • Wizard Martin
  • Angelica Button
  • Unicorn Wizard
  • The Great Raymondo
  • Sorcerer Wizard

In The Vestige Pt. 1, you battle Normal Lord Montymort who has 4 hearts (). Each character deals a fixed amount of damage to Lord Montymort’s hearts:

Damage Characters
0.5 Heart  Wizard Lisa, Wizard Bart, Magic Act Milhouse, Unicorn Wizard, GreyStash
1 Heart  Wizard Martin, Angelica Button, the Great Raymondo, Sorcerer Frink

Up to 4 characters can battle Normal Lord Montymort and you receive 50 event currency (Toad Prince    in Act 3) per character you send.

Once your characters have defeated Normal Lord Montymort, Lord Montymort becomes a Giant and it is now up to your fully enchanted beasts to battle Lord Montymort in The Vestige Pt. 2 task.

Beasts that can battle Lord Montymort include:

  • Kearneymon
  • Wiggops
  • Lewd
  • Treestache
  • Burns Dragon
  • Crawl
  • Bully-Vern
  • Barfy

Note: Beasts must be fully Captured and Enchanted in order to battle Giant Lord Montymort.

In The Vestige Pt. 2, you battle Giant Lord Montymort who has 4 giant hearts (). Each beast deals a fixed amount of damage to Lord Montymort’s giant hearts:

Damage Characters
1 Giant Heart  Kearneymon, Lewd, Crawl, Bully-Vern, Barfy
1.5 Giant Hearts  Wiggops, Treestache, Burns Dragon

Up to 2 beasts can battle Giant Lord Montymort and you receive 100 event currency (Toad Prince    in Act 3) per beast you send.

Once your characters have defeated Giant Lord Montymort in The Vestige Pt. 2 task, Lord Montymort becomes idle for 4 hours and then alternates between Normal Lord Montymort and Giant Montymort in The Vestige Pt. 3. However, unlike Part 1 and 2 where they only have 4 hearts or 4 giant hearts, both Normal Lord Montymort and Giant Lord Montymort have 15 hearts and 15 giant hearts respectively in Part 3.

Once you’ve defeated both Normal and Giant Lord Montymort three times each in The Vestige Pt. 3, you will unlock Lord Montymort as a full playable character.

Update:  So in Vestige Pt. 3, premium players will have to send characters 4 times to defeat Normal Lord Montymort the first time (16 hours) and beasts 5 times to defeat Giant Lord Montymort the first time (20 hours) for their first defeat of Lord Montymort, Lord Montymort than takes 4 hours to heal. Premium players will again have to send characters 4 times to defeat Normal Lord Montymort the second time (16 hours) and beasts 5 times to defeat Giant Lord Montymort the second time (20 hours) for their second defeat of Lord Montymort, Lord Montymort than takes 4 hours to heal again. Premium players will once more have to send characters 4 times to defeat Normal Lord Montymort the third time (16 hours) and beasts 5 times to defeat Giant Lord Montymort the third time (20 hours) for their third and final defeat of Lord Montymort, and will then unlock Lord Montymort (total 116 hours, or just under 5 days).

In contrast, freemium players will have to send characters 8 times to defeat Normal Lord Montymort the first time (32 hours) and beasts 8 times to defeat Giant Lord Montymort the first time (32 hours) for their first defeat of Lord Montymort, Lord Montymort than takes 4 hours to heal. Freemium players will again have to send characters 8 times to defeat Normal Lord Montymort the second time (32 hours) and beasts 8 times to defeat Giant Lord Montymort the second time (32 hours) for their second defeat of Lord Montymort, Lord Montymort than takes 4 hours to heal again. Freemium players will once more have to send characters 8 times to defeat Normal Lord Montymort the third time (32 hours) and beasts 8 times to defeat Giant Lord Montymort the third time (32 hours) for their third and final defeat of Lord Montymort, and will then unlock Lord Montymort (total 200 hours, or 8 and 1/3rd days ).

And yes, I know it’s actually a few hours (10%) less if you speed the tasks for free after 3 hours and 36 min, but I’m using 4 hours for the sake of simplicity

And that’s it my friends. A quick intro into the Battle for Springfield and unlocking Lord Montymort as a full playable character.

What are your thoughts on Battle for Springfield? Have you defeated Lord Montymort at all yet? Have you defeated Lord Montymort five times and unlocked him as a full playable character? Have any tips or tricks you can share to unlock Lord Montymort? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I was literally on my last battle to defeat Lord Montymort last night (had already defeated him two out of three times and was on his last heart of health vs the beasts). Woke up this morning to see what happened when you really defeat him, and it had an update and was gone! 196 hours of battles for nothing! 🙁

  2. I am on vestige pt 3.. can I unlock montymort with X donuts? Or do I need to pay donuts for each 4 hour cycle I cannot do to ‘complete’ the cycle?

  3. Wait, there are five parts to the vestige or three? I’m on three with wizards versus giant Monty, and won’t complete part three unless I burn donuts, but if I have two whole sequences to go? After that? I mean, I have the vampire.

  4. Unlocked 😀

  5. Why do I only have the ability to send one character at a time after Lord Montymort? This is making it ridiculously slow to beat him even once! Any help?

  6. All I can say is that EA really should give us a couple days’ grace period after the contest end with this one, given the bug that blocked a lot of us from registering montymort defeats. I cycled through 5 defeats (3 kids’, 2 monsters’) before it registered one defeat and I’m *just* finishing the third defeat. This is the worst, buggiest, and uninteresting THOH yet. Plus now I have a ton of crap from the troll and monster lairs that I have no clue what to do with.

    • So that’s why I’m not getting the final prize. I thought something seemed off. I suffer thru a boring event only to get screwed in the end. Wow. Thanks EA!!!

    • Yeah. This happened with me as well. I’m really bummed. I would be finished by now, but instead I’m going to fail this mission 🙁

  7. Montymort is now serving his first life sentence 24 hrs. Is this already the bonus round?

I ask because this task is 24 hrs and the event lasts less

  8. ermagerd!!! finally on vestige pt.4; time to relax for a bit! … so ready for a mini-event. xp.

  9. Waaaait a minute…
There’s now only 24 hrs left in this event. At what point does the free bonuts kick in for Act3?
I already got Dracula a while back, and now I’m doing Vestige part 5.

  10. Tracey E Mauldin

I think I’ll manage to get Dracula, but I’m on my third round of the beasts beating Montymort and it still only shows 1/3. I’m a little disappointed that it isn’t going as smoothly as it usually does. I’ve been locked out twice and forced to do some large downloads that I couldn’t skip. I really wanted to get Montymort though! I hope whatever the issue is gets fixed before it’s too late.

  11. As a freemium player, I just finished the battles this morning, but THE QUESTLINE IS NOT OVER YET, are you kidding me, EA, I guess no bonuts this time. ¬¬
