Should I Spend Donuts on the Department of Magical Vehicles?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Fall has arrived and there’s a haze over our Springfield’s, that can only mean one thing….it’s Halloween in our pocket-sized towns! This year EA’s thrown a little magic into the mix, with an Angelica Button theme invading our towns.  An all new event means loads of new premium items in our stores just tempting us to drop those donuts while they’re hot!

Of course with that limited-time label, it can be tempting to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Department of Magical Vehicles to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this wizarding DMV to your town…

Building/Decoration:
Department of Magical Vehicles
Donut Cost: 55 Donuts
Size: 4×5
Earns: $300,30xp/12hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Obedience +10

Leaves stores November 8th

Pros
-Comes with dialogue and a short questline
-Animated when in use, lights turn on. Brooms fly around. (it’s actually pretty fun)
-Nelson has a 4hr task there, Take Broom Driver’s Ed (earns $260, 70xp)

Cons
-No benefit for the event
-It’s just a building (one with a premium task for a character, but still just a building)

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
I like this one.  Of all of the buildings with this event, this is one of my favorites.  The animation is fun, the price is decent, comes with a premium 4hr task for a freemium character (handy for many of you who use the 4hr cycles).  If you like it, get it.  Otherwise, pass.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I’ll probably be picking it up.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the questline…

Department of Magical Vehicles
Selma starts

Selma: You didn’t complete the necessary forms.
Moleman: All this paperwork just to fly a broom?  It’ll take me years to fill it all out.
Patty: Sorry, the State can’t let just anyone jam a stick between their legs.
Moleman: Ooh, I just want to be able to drive again.
Make Springfielders Wait for Broom Licenses- x3. 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

What are your thoughts on the Department of Magical Vehicles? Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed it in Springfield? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Department of Magical Vehicles

Neat Building (with visuals when Milhouse is in it)
Will go swell for Tappers enjoying Harry Potter lampooning

I passed – why? – I wanted more Treehouse of Horror (try harder EA, if you want my sprinkles)! 🤣

  2. Dang it!! How could I miss this??

  3. Is there a video of the brooms animation? I did not find one online. It’s too late to buy it but maybe if I like the animation, I might be able to get it if it ever returns

  4. How do I make Nelson use this automatically??

  5. I’m surprised anyone likes this one. It looks like a run down warehouse / office building. Definite pass

  6. SIB the Cat Bus???

  7. Was going to buy this and the cat bus but no bonus% for DMV and cat bus doesn’t go on the road 😕

  8. Just got kicked off with the “logged in on another device ” message. When I logged back in. There was a message “the cauldron was probably not what you expected. Here are your 50 donuts back”

  9. I love the building and got it mixed in with my academy atm. I got nelson on his task for the building as a perma task unless I need him for another quest arc.

  10. Does anybody have a picture of it in action. It was a definite no until I read this

  11. My favorite building of the event!! The flying brooms around the building look so so nice ^^

  12. I was not loving this before I got it. Just wanted it for the building style, but thought it was rather boring. When I saw the broom flying around, it became my favorite building of the event! Super cool. The task that it gives you allows you to select nearly every character for a premium four hour task. I wish that was a permanent aspect of the building. Like the zombie sandwich, but 4 hours. Oh well. Still looks awesome!

  13. I bought this building and like it but Glad I read this post so I know who has a permanent task there after the quest. Would have never guessed Nelson.

  14. We need stuff like this in the freemium prize track, not in the store

  15. Does anyone else’s think this Halloween event just kinda sucks? The whole game has just became a donuts spending joy killer

I believe that you are the very first to voice such sentiments.

(Goodnight, busy day for me tomorrow)

  16. They actually gave Nelson a premium task there instead of Homer or Lisa? Will wonders never cease?

    • I know! I wasn’t sure I wanted it until I read this, even with the fun animation, but 4 hour tasks are my mainstay.Absolutely buying!

  17. I was 50/50 on this until I read the SIB, now I’ll have to look again at how many donuts I’ll have by tomorrow night.
Railyard any time now and at least one more, not sure when the daily challenge pays out and the other bits n bobs bringing donuts may mean getting a Bloodmobile or three to make sure.

I’m torn on this one lol! I like it but think I’ll try to see it in a neighbor’s town before I make my decision since Christmas Event is nearing : )
