Super Safi’s Stats & Strategy Special: Minigames – Claw Machine!

Salutations Senors, Senoras, Senoritas, Statisticians & Strategists,

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter ‘S’)

Hi, I’m Super Safi and you may remember me from such stats and strategy posts as KEM Farming and the advanced losing-to-win Superheroes battle strategy.

What better way to spend your time than talking math. So from time-to-time, I’ll come to you with a post that delves into the wonderful world of numbers, stats, and/or strategies.

While we’ve previously discussed Springfield Downs and the Go Kart Track a couple months ago, over the next few weeks, we’ll continue to look at most of the Minigames found within our game. After discussing the Rocket Launch Pad yesterday, we continue our journey today with Claw Machine!

CLAW MACHINE

The Claw Machine minigame can be played every 6 hours. It cost $1,000 cash to start a game. Once the game starts, the claw will go and catch a lobster if you are successful or will return empty handed if you are not. If you are unsuccessful, you will still be awarded 50 XP. If you are successful, a random reward may be given to the player.

These are the rewards from the Claw Machine:

50

Miss

40.00%

Carved Ice Sculture

($2,600 in store)
8.00%

Rabbit Hedge

($1,300 in store)
8.00%

Patio Table

($1,400 in store)
8.00%

Gas Pump

($1,300 in store)
8.00%

Phone Booth

($1,200 in store)
8.00%

Gazebo

($5,600 in store)
6.45%

(6.67% if own Sir Love-A-Lot)

Woodchipper

($5,600 in store)
6.45%

(6.67% if own Sir Love-A-Lot)

Gargoyle

($7,500 in store)
6.45%

(6.67% if own Sir Love-A-Lot)

Sir Love-A-Lot

(Unique item)
0.65%

The rarest reward is the unique item, Sir Love-A-Lot. As none of the rewards offer any XP or cash bonus, it is not really beneficial to invest $1,000 in the game for an opportunity (60% chance) to win a decoration that is already available in stores for only a few hundred or thousand in game cash more.

Do you still play the Claw Machine? Do you have Sir Love-a-lot? What stats or strategy related topic would you liked discussed? Share your thoughts. You know we love hearing from you. And be sure to come back tomorrow for the Scratch-R.

Minigames:

Springfield Downs, Go Kart Tracks, Insanity Mode, Sideshow You, Rocket Launch Pad, Claw Machine, Scratch-R, The Eliminator, Bigclaw, Excavation Site, Drone Scan, Sci-Fighter, Where’s Maggie

  1. Where is this from & is it still available.

  2. I have never won anything from the claw. Its a waist of cash. I got it last year i dont play it anymore.

  3. As far as I know, shortly after this game was introduced EA removed Sir-Love-A-Lot’s uniqueness. It should still be possible to earn multiples, and some of the comments seem to bear that out. 😉

  4. After reading some replies and finding out some items supply XP upon placement I’m wondering if there is a list of all these prizes.

  5. Useless prices. Dont play this one!

  6. CLAW MACHINE

I am pretty sure this one went immediately into Storage (the Prizes weren’t worth the effort) 👎

  7. Did the original Sir Love-a-lot come with a % bonus?

  8. still playing this in hopes they will upgrade the prize tracks semi-annually. oh well. i can still hope.

  9. I have won a Sir Love-a-lot despite already having one from a Valentines event so I now have two in my town. Did not realise it was a unique item,

  10. I played it quite a few times initially & won Sir Love-A-Lot early on(and the other prizes) but then stopped as kept getting fails.
Big fan of the excavation site though as I’m building a massive castle and maybe a huge wall.
    These posts are great Safi.

  11. I never play this one, I have all the prizes and don’t need more.

I already had Sir Love-A-Lot from a freebie or something. He’s cute.

  12. I stopped playing it twice i received a message about winning Sir Love A Lot and being told its in my inventory. Its never in my inventory, I once spend 10 minutes going through my inventory item by item even though it should appear at the start as a New item

    • You’re only “supposed” to get one Sir Love-A-Lot. So if the game glitches and gives you a second (or third or fourth), you should place it immediately. If you put it in your Inventory, the game coding will pick up on the glitch and rectify the error.

      • But that’s the problem. The first time I was awarded a Sir LoveALot i got a message that it was in my inventory. I would have preferred the usual choice to store or place as with other items won but with my game it said it was straight into Inventory. Otherwise if i received the normal place vs store message I would have placed it immediately. I searched my full inventory and it was not there.

So I received some time later another bear, and again the message was it was placed in my inventory, and was not given the choice of store vs place. Searching again, there is nothing there, and I went through the full inventory list and not sub categories hence why it took me so long. Still nothing in my inventory. I was then that i stopped playing the mini-game because all the other items are placed straight into my inventory and are not being used

        • The same thing would happen with duplicates of the Barbarian Homer Statue at the Excavation Site. Just remember, it’s meant to be a unique item. So you’re not really losing or missing anything.

          • Pardon, Safi? Barbarian Homer Statue isn’t available in the excavation site. I think you mean another minigame, or perhaps I’m just mistaken.

            • You’ll have to wait and see until Monday’s post on the Excavation Site.

Oh, what the heck, spoiler alert, it is the rarest prize available from the Excavation Site.

          • Oh, my bad. It is apparently a real prize. I just haven’t gotten one yet for some reason, and the source I checked it from the first time said it isn’t a prize.

          • I have a second Squeaky Voice Kid in my inventory, who doesn’t want to get out of the water (inventory) 🎶He was an itsy bitsy teeny weeny Squeaky Voiced kiddie🎶
This happened when I opened a Mystery Box in Krustyland.

  13. Are you going to cover monorail? I wonder if it keep on giving us donuts or go back how it has after the removal update

    • It’s been like this for over two months now, so hard to say if and when it will go away. So any post on it right now would purely be speculation.

  14. Ah ha! This is one game I don’t play and haven’t since the Pin Pals mini event dropped it into our game (was it this year or last?). Tis not worth the cash. I have the bear, in duplicate if not in triplicate.
I have Otto but don’t send him on this visual task. Does anyone else?
Thanks Safi for the post and the theme. I’m enjoying these and thinking more about different parts of the game. It’s great content with which to feed the beast (noting that when I refer to the Addicts community as the beast, I do so only with the utmost respect…)

    • Same here with not playing it after Pin Pals ended. I don’t want to spend my in-game cash to play mini-games.

  15. I’m pretty sure Sir Luv-a-lot isn’t unique anymore. I just received a third one a few days ago.

  16. I’ve got 3 Sir Love-a-Lots already, each from the claw machine.

  17. i play because i want to win 100 gargoyles and then sell them and feel like i’ve accumulated cash. i also have two Sir love a lots.

  18. I don’t know why they can’t just periodically refresh what’s in the machine….

  19. TallSpiderCandy

I’ve been playing sporadically since it was introduced and have won three bears, so I’m ecstatic lol : )
I still play sporadically mainly to see if I can get more bears! : )

  20. Thanks for the post Safi. I have two of the Sir Love-a-Lot bears. I know one came from the claw game the other maybe from a Valentine’s event? Definitely not unique to the game.

    • You first got one from Valentine’s Day, and then were awarded a second one from the Claw Machine when it had it’s glitch. But it’s been fixed now. You’re among the elite echelon that got to take advantage of that glitch. Congrats!

  21. If gives me something to do with my large amount of cash. Plus the XP on the gargoyles isn’t too bad.

    • Aw man! Didn’t know gargoyle and wood chipper gave XP I have been selling those. D’oh!

      • I think he just means the XP you get for placing it. If you placed it and then sold it, you already got the XP.

        • I think Beann means they stored it and sold it, without placing it; so they missed out on the XP.

          • Placing those multiples and then selling them is also much easier.

            • Also, unless I completely don’t care about an item, I’ve learned to always place an item before storing or selling it… I’ve read too many posts from to many people who have had thing they put straight into storage disappear on them. Doesn’t seem to happen if you place it and then store it. (One exception for me though….sometimes I’ll buy a premium item and want to save its questline for later or don’t have an appropriate place to put it yet. If I’m not forced to place it when I buy it (as is sometimes the case), then I’ll let it go straight into storage).

          • Precisely the case

        • Unfortunately I would immediately store then periodically clear inventory of sellables 😔

  22. Another thing if you get either the Wood Chipper or The Gargoyle Statue you earn XP on placement. Personally I don’t know why EA has all these mini games that give you items that more than not will go directly into the inventory unless you can sell them. The excavation site doesn’t offer much of interest to me. On another note what will happen when we hit 999 track pieces from the monorail yard? Eventually it will happen since the monorail isn’t weekly anymore.

    • My excavation site rests in my inventory. It take too much space.
The number of tracks is limited by the number of bits. A 16 bits value can contain 65.535 items and a 32 bits one even 4.294.967.295. So no trouble there.

  23. I stopped playing once I got Sir Love’s a Lot.
