THOH XXVIII is Nearing the End…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just a reminder that the THOH/Magical Event Ends TOMORROW November 14th.

This means that you will want to make that final push to gather up all the things you want from the Event before it goes with the Event.

Full rundown of premium items, as well as other items offered for this event can be found here.

As far as what is going to happen AFTER the Event… well, we can’t know… until it is over. Lol. Until then all we can do is speculate. So, patience. We all have to verify what happens after together.

Now as far as to what is going with the Event, here is a brief rundown…

  • Questlines linked directly to the progression of the Event will go. Like the Main Questlines that pulled you through all 3 Acts.
  • However, the questlines linked directly the the prizes and Premium Characters you’ve won will remain. (so Angelica Button, Count Dracula etc)
  • The event removal will require an app store update to fully remove it from your game.  So don’t panic when the timer runs down and the event isn’t out of your game…  It will require an app store update to remove everything.

I know some of you still try to push that last few minutes of collection as far as you can. If you turn OFF the auto update feature in your App Market, you may give yourself an extra day or so just know that ANY time after the 14th is borrowed time and you are doing so at YOUR OWN RISK. EA can force the update at anytime after the 14th and make you update. So use any extra time wisely and get what you need before you have to remove the Event completely.

Also, we’ve seen with a few recent events EA shuts off the ability to earn one item or another.  So don’t bank on being able to get that extra time.  Try to earn as much as you can until the event ends.

And don’t forget to craft! Use em (the goblin gold) or lose em!

So tap those last few fans and relax and wait to see what EA has next in store for us.

Additional note:

Some of you are asking what you should craft with all of your extra crafting currency.  There’s no magic item to craft.  There’s no way of knowing what EA might make premium in the future, with a bonus %.  Best advice I can give you is craft at least one of everything.  If there’s something you think you could use in a particular design craft a bunch of them and stick them in storage.

If you feel like you’ve crafted everything you want, then it’s ok to not use all of your crafting currency.  Just because you have it doesn’t mean you need to spend it.

Crafting Post, with item breakdown

A few others asked me about which gives the most XP when placed in Springfield…it appears as if each item (you can craft multiples of) gives you 100xp when placed in Springfield.  So there’s no item that gives you more of an advantage.

Are you sad to see the event go?  Or ready for it to finally be over?  How did you do with the prizes?  Get everything you wanted?  What are you hoping to see next?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I know something ended ….. but it sure as heck wasn’t Treehouse of Horror ! 😲

  2. Some buildings in this event weren’t bad. I just bought Angelica tho. For the rest a rather boring event. I do understand that newer players must have the opportunity to buy ‘old’ things, but better to give long timers also to give something tempting. As Alissa wrote a very good post about how the old events were, well Ea, please give us back that format.
The Montymore battle was way to difficult, without donuts ( i think i had the glitch too of not levelling up) i would have never made it

I do hope ‘they’ read Alissa’s post and give us an interesting xmas event

  3. I’ve turned off automatic update and played exceed 8 hours and finally got Dracula! So it does still work!! I’m still trying to get Monty I’m at 2/3 children but I don’t think I can power through, as soon as children is done, then I’ll just speed everything up by donuts.

  4. Nope. Once the event ended, my task to earn free donuts disappeared (same as with the last event). Still getting the frogs, they’re just useless now.

    • Same here. Since we still haven’t gotten the update, I maybe would’ve made it a second round (I wasn’t trying to get there but was decently close just from going through the motions to earn extra walls for future designs). If I could tell how close I am now (some seven hours and counting after update time), I would maybe delay the update (when it does appear) a few hours to get that extra round, but EA took away that option immediately. I also noticed that right when the day rolled over, the Magic Milhouse questline launched for me (somehow I never realized it didn’t launch when I got him at the beginning of the event). The Magic Mystery Box also went away (I already had what I wanted, but I’m sure some were grinding for the last few donuts they needed). I’m unsure about the Halloween box (mine was emptied since those were the type of items I actually wanted from a Halloween event), but I assume that was ripped out too. Thanks, EA.

  5. I think the railyard tasks for making donuts is permanent now so that you can use the earned donuts to rush your tasks.

  6. There are several factors that help shape my opinion of an Event – enjoyment is one; novelty is another. I found this Event no more nor less enjoyable than most of the others; as far as novelty was concerned, it was just an old concept in a new skin.
But for me as an f2p Tapper the key factor has to be the ability to get all the characters/prizes comfortably within the allotted time without having to resort to using donuts or buying Premium characters. And with just under 9 hours to go, I am 5 battles away from what I presume is the last fight with Giant Lord Montymort – mathematically impossible, in other words.
So for that reason alone, and because you asked so nicely, I am giving THOH XXVIII an EPIC FAIL.

  7. I’m sure this is answered somewhere but I blame Event Fatigue. How many parts does The Vestige have? Currently I’m on Part 5..

  8. I don’t know how to find the skin for the cooling towers. I have searched all of my inventory and nothing yet it says that I’ve earned it. Help, please?!?

    • Search under the general inventory list where all items are listed. It is located deep in there.

    • Sharon I think you just have to touch the towers and toggle through the different facades you have. I think that’s we’re i found mine!

    • If you just tap on the cooling towers, you can choose the skin. Just like choosing a skin for a house. Didn’t found mine either at first so I hope it helped. 🙂

  9. Is there a montymont skin at the end of the big battle?

  10. Should I buy Victorian UFO for 50 donuguhts? Leaning towards nay

  11. I log in to the game regularly, four times a day, and I bought Angelica Button early on (no other premium purchases). Yet this was the first event in a very long time that came down to the wire for me. I finally beat He Who Must Not Be Named and got Dracula yesterday morning. I’m used to having a week or so of downtime/bonuts time at the end of each event.

So, a special Thank You for the calendars, which reassured me that I was still on schedule to complete everything.

Also, upon reflection, Angelica wasn’t really a big help within the event. She helped tame the monsters more quickly, but in the first two acts, I had no use for her for 1-2 weeks total after the creatures had been beaten. Taming/unlocking the monsters would have gone more slowly, but I had the time to do that freemium-style. However she did speed up my victories over Moldymort, and I’m not sure if I could have beaten him in time otherwise.

  12. There are many opinions about this event. As I weigh in here I will say I am not particularly a fan of Halloween stuff. I have on this last Act purposely slowed myself down because I do not want a vampire in my town. Some of these prizes are not for everyone. I have done this on other events also. So guess to each his own and hopes the next event can be less controversial. We are going into what should be a happy time of year for many.

    I’m wondering what the 5 (?) NPC’s will
be doing. Return home until tapped
Or just wander around all the time
    We will soon find out

    • They will be hanging out…in storage.

    • My guess is that you’ll be able to release them for cash and XP (replacing the event currency) and, maybe, more of those tiresome items they currently earn (toilet, smashed police car, etc.). I would be thrilled if they made it possible to sell those items!

  14. The reason that this event was terrible wasn’t just because the prizes were mostly rehashed prizes from previous events and that the event itself was boring. Rather, the reason that this event was so bad was that I tapped away every four hours around the clock only to find that the game itself glitched. I wasn’t progressing against Montymort throughout the first and second rounds until the game updated.

Now, I am on the third round with no prospect of defeating him by tonight’s deadline. In fact, oddly enough, I just finished a battle and the game didn’t remove the two healths (hearts) from Montymort. I had thought about spending donuts to speed up the process — but I won’t do it if I am not even making progress due to the never-ending glitch that some of us experienced.

This is the worst event in terms of creativity and technical issues. It is neck-and-neck with last year’s Pagan Christmas event in terms of frustration.

I feel like I wasted so much time in this event. If I would have still finished this event (without donuts), it would have been alright.

  15. EA corrupted my game on their servers 4 days ago and will have to restore it to 5 days ago. Still trying to get it fixed (hopefully will happen today). But with loosing the last 5 days of the event, EA will hopefully honor giving my town MontyMort as I was only prevented of finishing the event because an error on their side…..and taking soooo long to resolve it.

I am VERY optimistically (and hopefully not innocently naive) looking forward to an inspiring Thanksgiving Event and a Fun / Engaging / Uplifting Christmas Event (that will have meaningful encouragement to visit neighbors!)

    • that will have meaningful encouragement to visit neighbors!

Yes! I miss events where going to neighbours’ towns benefitted them as well, like dropping Christmas presents in 2015(?).

      • I can’t recall which year’s Xmas it was (the one with the ugly metal tree thingy) but I loved that event! Great interaction with neighbours & a way to say Thanks for tapping my town this year!
I hope EA will make Christmas interactive again! Without being so much of a grind – As it’s supposed to be a family time after all!
I’m probably going to be alone @ Xmas – But that doesn’t mean I want to login every 4hrs & grind for prizes!

  16. I should just barely finish everything up today. I’m usually way ahead of schedule, but work is a little cray for me.

  17. Here’s my take on this, with the disclaimer that I realise this won’t be for everyone, completionists and whatnot.

I looked at act one’s prizes and realised they weren’t for me (a pointy headed horse wizard? That dog won’t hunt, monsignor) so I didn’t play past the questline. Act two had Greystash and a building so I played that til I got Greystash and then stopped. I wasn’t going to play act three but I liked the look of Slithers so I played til then and then concentrated on getting donuts/doughnuts from the rail yard.

Now, were I not a bit weary of six week events and were it actually based on a THOH rather than a, what, two minute opening to an episode then I might have felt differently about it and thusly been a bit peeved about the final prize needing eleventy kagillion hours of grinding to get. But I could take it or leave it, and in the main I left it.

I now have built up my sprinkle stocks for the winter event, and if it’s not Kwanzaa based I’m going to be furious.

    🙂

  18. With a positive spin for the future, may we all have a warm, fuzzy and heartfelt Thanksgiving event that leaves wonderful memories of all that is good in this silly little game. May our Christmas event bring surprises, magic and charm back to our holiday tapping season once again. May the spirit of greatness rise above disappointments of the past.
    R.I.P. Halloween. Amen.

  19. This was the worst event. I have so much useless stuff in my storage. I wish EA would give us an opportunity to get rid of the junk in storage. I hope Christmas will be much better. Last year Christmas was awesome.

  20. I finished every week early, and I’ve finished the last week plus all the questlines. I’m halfway through earning the 15k bonut round, but I doubt I’ll make it. Not that I’m worried, as these bonuts are way more expensive (150k per retry) than KEM ones.

    • I finished both previous rounds early, playing [very] casually. Got 1-2 bonut rounds. This last one, playing more frequently, I’m very far behind on. Just did the math and realized I would get Dracula but not finish the Moldymort questline if I didn’t, so I used some stored-up donuts to rush some of the Moldymort jobs.

      • I did find it got more difficult with each phase… phase 1 I finished 7 days early, phase 2 was 6 days, and phase 3 was probably 5 days early. It still took time to finish the questline and unlock the bonuts for the final phase so I didn’t even get a single payout… previous phases were much easier to earn bonuts! I did buy Angelica Button, as well as a few extra beasts – but I didn’t buy Sorcerer Frink, Raymondo, Burns Dragon, or Treestache. Overall I found it very relaxed and easy to complete in time

  21. There are only 2x beast-slots (vs. 4x magician) so the differential between premium vs. free is HUGE. Using 2x premium-beasts, it takes 5-rounds to finish Giant-Montymort at 3-hearts/round. Switch to the free-beasts, and it takes 8x rounds (!) to do it.

The necessity to repeat the cycle 3x means the free-beasts require 9x additional rounds (36 hours) for non-premium players. I think EA didn’t think through the timeline properly….

    • Uhm…I think they did. They made it clear that PREMIUM (spending donuts) was the only real way to do it EAsily.

      • I think EA generally makes it so that non-premium players can still get everything if they log in 4x to 5x times per day. That’s how it was for the prize tracks for all 3x Acts.

Montymort…. that seems to be the exception where even frequent tappers would find it nearly impossible to finish. Hence the math error, IMO.

EA has made this type of error in the past, after all, and adjusted payouts in the middle of events.

    • Good thing I bought two premium beasts early – just made it and probably won’t make the 15,000 for bonuts.

  22. It was terrible, especially when compared to last year’s Halloween. Doesn’t look like they thought it through at all.
Anyone got any ideas on what to do with 63 Beast Toilets sitting in my inventory, with a lot of other rubbish. Polite answers only please.

  23. 67 chaise lounges, dance platforms, and mead boxes.

34 smashed police cars and large donut signs.

    And the rest.

EA support had the…insistence…to tell me that the reason my stored Unicorn Wizard was not showing up was due to the amount of stuff in my inventory and that I should put all of the accumulated stuff into my town (P.S. that wasn’t the problem). That there’s some mystical, unknown limit to stored inventory that can affect the game…but there’s also a point where too much stuff in town will affect performance.

Then why did they add the ability to gain all of this useless stuff without the ability to sell it?

I really hope the beasts just earn cash and XP once the event is over. If they keep earning items, they’ll remain resting at their locations forever, because I wouldn’t want their storage space to affect my game 🙄 😂

This wasn’t the best event, and the beast-earned items are definitely ones that are in the minus column.

  24. After this disappointing event (C’mon, there have been 28 Treehouses, couldn’t you find a few more things to mine from them to add to the fun?) I’m almost expecting to see a Christmas event feature the “New and Improved Giant Wheel of Prizes” just because.

  25. I’m not gonna say “Good Riddance” but I am gonna type it.

    Good Riddance!

  26. Worst. Event. Ever. Good riddance. And don’t call me a whiner. Most of you know I’m right. Looking forward to Christmas event.

  27. Bad event IMO.
    All grind and no fun…

That montymort task is too much. Way too slow.

Im a freemium player. I usually get a premium character on every event, but there was nobody that looked too attractive. It doesn’t seem like they would have been too much help anyway…

  28. I wish they would do more mini events instead of these long ones. Getting MontyMort was brutal but I finished it.
