Should I Spend Donuts on CONRAD and Quinn?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s the holiday season! Here in America we’re gearing up for Thanksgiving…the one holiday that stands between us and Christmas….so naturally, the Simpsons have to celebrate!  While I think it would have been awesome to get a confetti-shooting Homer balloon from last Sunday’s episode, this mini event is fun too!  And as always, an all-new event (of any size) means loads of new premium items in our stores just tempting us to drop those donuts while they’re hot!

Of course with that limited-time label, it can be tempting to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add CONRAD and Quinn to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this App Hacking Duo to your town…

Character: Quinn Hopper
Building/Decoration:
CONRAD
Donut Cost: 150 Donuts
Size: 1×2
Earns: 5% Bonus on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +250
Other Info:
Can be placed on grass|pavement|boardwalk|pier|dirt

Leaves stores November 27th

Pros
-Helps to earn additional event currency for Thanksgiving Event (Quinn earns 15 )
-CONRAD has a fantastic bonus %
-Quinn uses CONRAD for a task, they interact with each other

Cons
-Not voiced
-One-off character(s)
-CONRAD seems like he could be a little more.  Perhaps a floating NPC (like Mr. Sparkley)…at least for 1 task it’d be nice to see him pop out of the screen

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
This is the big premium combo for this mini event.  You get a new character + decoration with a nice bonus %, everything included is fair for the price.  The only question you have to ask yourself is….is the character worth it to me?  It’s a one-off character, not overwhelmingly memorable…so is this combo worth the 150 donuts to you?  If so grab it, if not pass.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can tell you I’ve already picked her up.   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).  Also, this is one of those items that helps with the event.  So if you’re picking it up grab it sooner rather than later, so it can help you the most.  So if you’re planning on picking it up I’d do so by this weekend.

Here’s a look at her tasks…

Quinn Hopper’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Hack Coffee Snobs’ Phones 1hr $105, 26xp Java Server
Insult Student’s Code 4hrs $275, 70xp Outside/Visual
Consult Conrad 8hrs $420, 105xp Outside/Visual
Get Another Pseudocode Tattoo 12hrs $600, 150xp My First Tattoo
Debate Tabs Versus Spaces 24hrs $1,000, 225xp Java Server

What are your thoughts on Quinn and CONRAD?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring this hacking duo to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed CONRAD in Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Quinn and CONRAD

If you don’t have all the Springfield Characters needed to earn Turkey Badges? If you don’t want to use Characters already in use crafting Monorail Tracks for Bonuts? If you just want to complete the Thanksgiving Mini-Event quickly? This is for you !👍

The rest? Save your sprinkles (this Combo will be back at Discount)!🤣

  2. I snapped her right up. I am always trying to increase my xp bonus, and those offerings don’t seem to come up much anymore.

  3. David Billington

I’ve only just realised Quinn is a she… Thought she was a bloke with long hair… Love the game by the way but not watched an episode for the best part of 15 years

    • That’s to bad…there have been many really good episodes over the past 15 years. Are you in the U.S.? If so, and if you have a Roku or other streaming device like that, you can get the FXNow app and be able to access every episode of The Simpsons ever, with little or no commercials!

    • Quinn looks like she would enjoy a beverage and the company at the She-She lounge, I’m guessing the reason she doesnt have a task there is no free wi-fi (just wifey)

  4. The way I looked at it was that a 5% bonus should cost 100 donuts (40 donuts per 2% being the norm) so the character costs 50 donuts on balance. I snapped him up on his basis!! Sorry, Alissa, I didn’t even wait for your Should I Buy.

  5. Im a freemium/farmium player. I donut farm for 72 hours approx every 2.50 months …… Sooooo I have the bonuts to purchase Quinn & Conrad, but I will not because

    a) Im sure she’ll be offered for a rebate or in a mystery box within the next 12 months (She’s not exactly a highly requested or coveted character)

    b) Im saving my bonuts for Black Friday deals (There are some amazing rebates coming up on characters and other stuff, and those rebate characters would more than satisfy my longing for new TSTO characters & quests for months) ….. I hope this remark is not considered a spoiler because Alissa herself said she will post about Black Friday deals as they get near

    c) You dont really need Quinn to finish the Thanksgiving event …… Id rather spend my bonuts on a character that will help me during the December/January holiday event that will last for weeks (and even that premium purchase is optional)

    d) I dont really see Quinn helping in any other event anytime soon

    e) If someone covets the 5% bonus , there are regular items in the store that can get them 5% and they would cost less than Quinn

Just my thoughts : ) ……… Waiting for Black Friday & holiday event now!!!!

  6. Love computer stuff so gave in. Now am finally low on donuts. May have to pass on Black Friday deals since my bonus percentage only allows for slow farming.

    • Have you tried the QuickThoughts app? It’s a totally legit app that lets you take real market research surveys to earn Amazon/Google Play/iTunes gift cards (depending on the OS of the device you install it on). Before I became a real farmer, that’s how I funded most of my TSTO purchases….I’ve earned well over $100 from them.

If you start now, you may be able to earn enough to get at least one $10 gift card by next Friday, depending on your demographics and the things you do and buy.

  7. A job at My First Tattoo. Great bonus. Great buy. I like these one off characters. Makes my town feel more like a city. I like the hustle and bustle. Off hand does anyone know offhand how many characters are in the game playable and npc?

    • I don’t know the character total but ATM I have 276 playable characters. Not counting skins and I know I’m missing at least 4 playable characters.

  8. Hope she is still avaible for black friday

  9. Meant to say a ‘no brainer’

  10. For me this was a brainer. I had 200+ donuts after Halloween and was thinking of getting a new character anyway. It was the bonus % that sealed the deal.

  11. My general rule is to not buy characters from episodes I’ve never seen (I stopped watching around season 22). This usually isnt a problem sinxe the prwmium characters as of late tend to be from classics, but I’ve never heard of this character. So pass.

    • You might want to actually watch that episode…it was a good one!

      • It is STEM episode.

        • By the way, I just want to let you know that I tried to post a (respectful) comment to P a few days ago, after he was rude to you and called you names, but it didn’t make it past moderation, for reasons I don’t really understand (or maybe it was a technical issue and never made it to moderation?). But I wanted you to at least know that I did try to defend you against the name-calling, since I’ve been the brunt of that same behavior from him myself several times. (The gist of my response was to suggest to P how he could have conveyed the same general message to you without being rude about it.) I think he was moderating at the time, so he may have deleted my response himself…I tried to inquire about what happened (to make sure it wasn’t just a technical issue and I should try to resubmit my comment), but I got no response to my inquiry.

I don’t know whether this comment will make it past moderation, either, but I wanted to try, because I think it’s important to support people when they’re unfairly attacked. (I know I’ve certainly appreciated it when others have done that for me.)

          • Thanks for note. Well, P is a “Cranky Old Guy”, ;).

I try not to let personal attacks bother me, for one thing it usually means the person knows he/she has lost the argument. I look for truth, examining my own and other assumptions. But sometimes one prefers red and the other blue and there is no where to go from there. I try to be respectful to all no matter what their beliefs be. But if they are willing, I am willing to take the journey to better understanding for us all.

          • i knew things were being censored here, but it’s disturbing to see just how much…..

            • You’d be surprised how frequently regular commenters get dinged by the spam filter. One word or another and it flags it. We don’t always catch them, especially when there are hundreds of other legit spam comments that go into the filter we’d have to filter through on a daily basis. Stuff happens.

Don’t always make assumptions. 99% of the time your assumption is wrong in comparison to the truth.

              • “the spam filter” has a better ring to it than the cranky old guy, i’ll give you that…..

he admitted he was deleting stuff, so you’ll have to pardon me for struggling to believe in coincidence…. yet again.

              • 🤷‍♀️ you’ve already decided to be the judge and jury so I give up. Just not worth dealing with the bs any more.

            • Happily, it appears that wasn’t the case (per some more recent intel).

          • That must be what happened to mine a few days ago too. I replied on a comment Patric made to Sandra about how rude it was. First time one of my comments didn’t make it through.

          • I also have been on the receiving end of personal attacks by P in the past.
It’s a shame this keeps happening over and over and over again to multiple people. I love this site and the people here, but I feel it’s been on a downward slide since P came along, like it’s rotting from the inside.

            • It’s not. I’m sorry you feel that way, but it’s not. We’re just tired. It’s that time of the year.

Perhaps it’s just the game in general. It’s slow and the last event left a lot of people angry.

              • I’m not angry, disappointed yes. The prize track was almost a repeat of last year. EA should have replaced the items from last year by new ones for those who have played THOH back then.

            • Their site, their rules.
Patric and I go a long way on TSTO 😁
I like him for his crankyness.

              • There’s a difference between being cranky and launching insults at individual people or impugning the character of groups of people. I’m fine with the former, but not with the latter. To me, it’s rarely what he says, but, rather, the way he says it. He could easily convey the same messages without being insulting to members of this site while doing it.

              • remember..for everyone involved…written words don’t show emotion.

              • I don’t think I understand what you mean by “written words don’t show emotion.” I think every poet in the world would disagree with that, lol!

But I’m not sure how Patric calling Charles “disingenuous or self-delusional” is “emotionally” ambiguous, although I’m certainly open to hearing how it may have been misconstrued…

              • Referring to…
WORDS DON’T SHOW EMOTIONS: Keep in mind anytime you make a comment that what YOU may find hilarious another may take offensively. What you find cruel or mean, you may have taken the wrong way. It is a known fact that the emotional state of a persons mind will impact the way they perceive something. This means if you are angry, you may take every comment you read to be angry as well even though it is not intended as such. It is a natural occurrence when you have a group of strangers coming together to have discussions, how you react though will be up to you. So take a step back, take a breather, and try again if you are taking something too personal. Think if that person really meant it that way or it it was just a mistake of perception due to the state of mind. Think before you react to a comment.

Just in general. You said it’s not what he says it’s how he says it.

              • I agree with you, for the most part, and I do, in fact, do what you’re suggesting in terms of stepping back to assess what I think the true intent was and factor in my own state of mind . But, after everything I’ve seen over a fairly long period of time now, I do believe that Patric means it when he directly insults certain people (and groups of people), especially since he continues to defend it (and double down on it) in subsequent comments. I’m NOT talking about general crankiness, I’m taking about direct insults. Tell me how calling someone “disingenuous or self-delusional” can be interpreted as anything but a direct insult? As I wrote in (in part) in my original response:

“I would prefer it if you wouldn’t insult people in your replies to their comments…your reply was fine up until you called Charles “disingenuous or self-delusional.” Could you not, instead, have said something like, “It seems to me like the two are interconnected,” instead? See how that makes your point, without using insulting language?” (Note: “…the two are interconnected” referred to something within the original discussion, not to the phrase “disingenuous or self-delusional.”)

I wasn’t angry when I started to read his reply to Charles….why would I be? And it’s not like I’m defending myself here… I’m defending someone else, so it’s not like I was taking something “too personal,” because the comments had nothing to do with me!

I appreciate that you need to show public support for your fellow moderator, but I hope that you can also see that there’s a line between doing the CoG shtick (which is perfectly fine…some people don’t care for it, but others really enjoy it) and actually making personal insults, and that, at least behind the scenes, this gets addressed between the two of you. You built this site to have a certain kind of “culture” (which is what drew me to beginning a “regular” here in the first place), and I hope you’re still committed to maintaining that positive, friendly vibe.

And just to reassure you, while I’m certainly very interested in any reply you may have to this comment, I won’t add anything more to this comment thread. I think I’ve said all I need to on this.

              • I’m not defending anyone. But reread what patric wrote in it’s entire context…he’s referring to making the argument without talking about cash drain.

              • Here’s where I stand on this Sandra. I handed out my email for this kind of stuff…so the rest of the world doesn’t need to see your persistent, and obsessive (yes…correct use of both terms) efforts to keep stirring the pot on this. I am MORE than happy to take this offline…and if you have missed my email address, here it is again. tstopatric@gmail.com.

That said…ALL of the mods are going to delete any further discussion on this topic.

FOR THE RECORD… I received more than 25 emails from TSTO Addicts on this very topic. Not one of them was anything but complimentary about my attempts to stop what was clearly something that you and Charles could not let go of…and actually UNDERSTOOD…my comment (which I made repeatedly) that “everyone plays differently…there are no wrong or right ways to tap.” Now…again…LET IT GO. Stop posting the same stuff, over and over again across different threads. After a WEEK of it…we are all burned out.

              • And I just reread that comment thread. He wasn’t calling the reader disingenuous or self-delusional, he was indicating to make an argument with out including other facts is disingenuous or self-delusional.
I know it’s hard but if the two of you read each other’s comments without the obvious disdain you have for each other you may find that what you’re reading isn’t what you think you’re reading.

              • Thank you for acknowledging that this is, at least, a two-sided problem (since I just got accused of it being just my problem).

              • That’s why I always use emojis 🤣😀😂😁😴😜🤪🤢😵😇😅

              • Patric is just being the Cranky Old Guy as he always states in his posts 🤣

          • Well, I just tried to post “You don’t make friends with salad!” the other day and the message just disappeared. The spam filter must be a really grumpy vegetarian, lol.

          • Oh…and to my point, Sandra (and others in the Crankyhater Club), Charles and I have been having a nice, civil, conversation offline about farming.

            So…the option is still there.

        • I came back here to see if anyone responded to my original comment… Wow.

Maybe I should have just bought the character.

          • Lol, I imagine it went something like this for you…

scroll- nope that’s not a response to mine
scroll- Nope that’s not a response to mine
scroll- Nope that’s not a response to mine
scroll- Nope that’s not a response to mine
scroll- Nope that’s not a response to mine
(and this happened for half a page)
            ohhh. 🙁
“Maybe I should have just bought the character”

            The End. 🙂

  12. I bought them but lost Conrad somewhere in my city. Lesson learned to not buy at after midnight.

    • Set Quinn on her 8 hr task and then use the census at the town hall to find her and Conrad. Problem solved 🙂

      • Smart! 🙂

Actually, she goes to CONRAD for her event currency task, too, so it should be easy enough to do what you’re saying right now (assuming one is collecting event currency).

  13. I have her and will do the quest line after the event. I am SUPER HAPPY to find out that she’ll use other buildings than the Brown house for her indoor tasks. Thanks for the great info.

  14. Jeremiah Jones-Goldstein

I bought this right way because I had the doughnuts. I SUPER HAPPY to find out she does have any tasks at the brown house. Thanks for all the great info.

  15. No brainer for me. Got it right away.

  16. CONRAD is a classic (even if it’s just a recent “classic”), so I jumped on this right away. But I have to agree with you, Alissa, that I’m disappointed that they didn’t do more with him. I would have settled for a smaller bonus percentage in return for a more fully realized character.

  17. If this were available at a time when Black Friday/Christmas weren’t right around the corner I’d have gotten it for the premium character/bonus %. Even with my newfound interest in bonus % (the KEM farming bug is has taken hold inside of me!!) I think I’m going to exercise restraint and hold out until at least Black Friday. It’s not like I ever really need help for the mini-events anyway…

  18. Off topic… I read so many comments about folks finally spending donuts to finish Montymort’s quest…and now many tappers having mini events pop up in their towns requiring donut purchases to complete them. Any chance of a poll when we do the next Addicts Live to see how many tapper’s spent donuts (unplanned – not for premium items) just to finish…and how many are now spending on mini events they didn’t really want. Pretty smart on EA’s part…I’ll bet they had a huge upswing in donut spending in the last month.

    • I spent 4 donuts on the last leg of Mortymor. Honestly didn’t realize the update would take another day to get to iOS. It’s okay because I got three donuts from Maggie and one from daily quest.

    • Spending donuts on Montymort was pretty much entirely unnecessary though. There was originally no way I was going to get him before the event ends, but I still didn’t spend a single donut. Instead I just kept grinding for him and not updating TSTO in Google Play. In fact, I only got him about an hour ago. Just updated the game, and there’s no hurry finishing the thanksgiving update either, since there’s so much time left.

      • Not sure that being worried about finishing on time was the primary motivation for spending donuts this time. I think quite a few (me included) just wanted to get out of a 5 day (minimum) unpleasant task…a task made even longer by “glitches” that prolonged the grinding. Those tappers are the figures I’m curious about. If EA makes a task long enough, repetitive enough and unpleasant enough, will tappers pay to end it early? I would hate to see this as a template for future events, but it may become a strategy to increase sales for EA. Then again, lots more free donuts available now, so who knows…

    • I did spend donuts ( somewhere between 30 or 40) coz i wanted him
40 donuts is not that much for a full character

    • I thought I was getting Montymort under the gun only to realize I was only 2/3 of the way through. Decided I didn’t want him that bad. I updated. I already know EA is going to tempt me to dump donuts right before and during Halloween. Black Friday is NBD because if I wanted it, I probably already have it, so it’s usually just stuff I’ve already passed on many times before. But this time of year I’m always donut depleted and since I don’t farm or pay much attention to grinding for the railroad, have to remind myself to look for Maggie. I’m going to cruise to my neighbors to check out Quinn and Conrad, but I liked that episode, I’m already 80% in. That will leave me about 15 donuts after. Hi ho ho ho, it’s off to Google play for a Boatload I go!

    • I finished Dracula with maybe 40hours spare, but was way far behind with Montymord (I have no idea why, I tried to play every 4 hours as usual) I skipped just two full days because of my friend wedding and no internet in hotel :/
But anyway, night before event ended I was still two beast fights and one kids fight away…
Last day of event I flew back home and I didn’t realised I can just postpone update… so I was just spontaneously rushing the fights to get him.
Long story short : I spend loooot of donuts for him :/ *facepalm* *facepalm* *facepalm*
I could rather save for black friday…

  19. After such a lackluster Halloween, my donut stash was pretty much untouched. I really like Quinn and Conrad…they are arguing in the school yard right now 😋 🖥🤖.

  20. I realize she is a one off, but that episode is a classic in my head so I jumped on it when I saw it. I usually wait for a “should I buy” opinion, but not on this one. It may only be the second time that I didn’t wait on a should I buy.

  21. I don’t even know this character, so I’ll pass.

  22. The thing I want to know — the thing I ALWAYS want to know, when considering any character or costume purchase, is this: how many parts are there to her quest? The dialog humor is a major reason why I play this game!

  23. I bought this one right away – it’s from one of my favorite episodes.

  24. Tracy-1ltwoody920

Picked it up. Also grabbed Caesar and his casino. Debating on the casino sign.
Haven’t don the math, but I think the good stuff leave immediately before and Black Friday (if any) day after Thanksgiving sale.

Kinda like the Turkey in a Cage – reminds me of a double feature I saw years ago:
Psycho and Lady in a Cage – quirky movie with a great cast. Olivia DeHaviland (?) and a young, very young, James Caan. Lady gets trapped in her cage elevator and watches while thugs ransack her home.
Turkey trapped in a Cage watching the meal being prepared. Maybe it is a good Halloween tie-in!

    • Bought Mrs. Bouvier and Chieftain with rebates. The donuts per bonus ratio is available to you by using a calculation device such as pen and paper 😜 Anything better than 20D/1% is worth considering. Anything worse than that must be really awesome to find my interest.
The sign completes the casino and enough donuts left: instabuy.

    • The sign has a really great animation, it’s my favorite part of the building. To compliment it I like having Caesar on his vision quest along with The Rich Texan celebrating cowboy style in front. If my Texan gets away I send him to the dog track next door for 3 hrs and catch him again. 😃

  25. This looks like a decent buy with the 5% bonus (about 100 for Conrad and 50 for Quinn), she uses My First Tattoo which no one else does and helps with the event but Black Friday is just around the corner so it might be a pass from me for now. Off topic, has anyone else noticed that the Manager Cletus outfit no longer earns at a premium rate but a regular rate now?

    • I noticed. Complete b.s.and I’m ticked off they did that. I did buy Quinn though since 5% and a character seemed like a good deal

      • I thought that it was always intentional from EA to make MC (Manager Cletus) a premium and be a new thing for costumes as the last prize to pay out premium rates but I guess not. I’m still undecided on Conrad and Quinn and on the “Thanksgiving is Live” post it says “A WHOLE lot of items and Mystery Boxes will be coming.” for Black Friday, but if Quinn and Conrad are still around when Black Friday appears then I might buy them.

  26. I realize she is a one off, but that episode is a classic in my head so I jumped on it when I saw it. I usually wait for a “should I buy” opinion, but not on this one. It may only be the second time that I didn’t wait on a should I buy.

  27. this is just simple as that.
    MUST BUY!

  28. I love when she is talking to the screen.

  29. Where did he come from? I have never heard of the guy!

  30. I find it hard to spend donuts on one-offs, especially ones I don’t recall right away! Ima just gonna wait for the black-friday deals and keep checking the vault for now.
