Should I Spend Donuts on Deuce’s Caboose Chili Dogs?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s the holiday season! Here in America, we’re gearing up for Thanksgiving…the one holiday that stands between us and Christmas….so naturally, the Simpsons have to celebrate!  While I think it would have been awesome to get a confetti-shooting Homer balloon from last Sunday’s episode, this mini event is fun too!  And as always, an all-new event (of any size) means loads of new premium items in our stores just tempting us to drop those donuts while they’re hot!

Of course with that limited-time label, it can be tempting to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Deuce’s Caboose Chili Dogs to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Heart Attack Wagon to your town…

Building/Decoration: Deuce’s Caboose Chili Dogs
Donut Cost: 65 Donuts
Size: 6×9
Earns: Earns 6 /4hrs; $90, 10xp/4hrs (when event is over)
Conform-O-Meter: Gluttony +10
Other Info:
Can be placed on grass|pavement|boardwalk|pier|dirt

Leaves stores November 27th

Pros
-Comes with a short (1 part) questline
-Animated when in use, counter opens, lights turn on and smoke comes out of the top
-Gluttons have a permanent 4hr task there (to Eat Between Heart Attacks) that earns at a premium rate ($260, 70xp)
-Fun design

Cons
No benefit for the event (sorry guys, I forgot it does earn even currency prior to finish the prize track.  That’s what I get for using my B game to analyze it…where i finished the track to write up the questline)

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
It’s not bad for either group.  Turns some freemium characters premium (Wiggum, CBG, Homer etc) & it’s a fun looking building.  If you have the donuts and like the design grab it.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can tell you I’ll likely be picking it up.   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the dialogue it comes with…

Deep Fried Death
Homer starts

Homer: Deuce’s Caboose!  Risen from its hot dog watery grave!
Lisa: Didn’t it also explode?
Homer: We’re living in a post-fact society Lisa.  Don’t think too hard about it. I’ll take the re-fried deep chili fries. Side of lard. And hold the napkins.  I want this one to soak in
Make Homer Order One of Everything-  4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Make Gluttons Eat Between Heart Attacks- x3. 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

What are your thoughts on Deuce’s Caboose Chili Dogs?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring this heart attack wagon to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed it in Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Deuce’s Caboose Chili Dogs

Not a bad deal and Gluttons get a 4 Hour Tasks (I have ’til the 27th to decide)! 👍

    • Make sure you have somewhere that you think it will fit in, before you buy it. It’s ridiculously out of scale and, while playing around with it in its pre-purchased state, everywhere I thought it might go, it looked too out of proportion, so I cancelled the sale. It’s very disappointing, because I really liked the idea of having it. 🙁

  2. I bought it & hate the scale! I wanted it for my coloured buildings ethnic area; but it’s way too large! I wish I’d seen it in a friend’s town before buying! The 6 turkey tokens are helpful; but all in all the scale is way too large!

  3. I liked it and I’m glad I got it, but like many others I thought it was way too big. It’s currently sitting next to my Stonecutter area and it is almost as big as the Stonecutter Lodge.

  4. Thanks for the post. I bought this one almost instantly (what can I say: I love chilli dogs). The scale is disappointing. I had it next to a white house initially but the stools seem to reach the upper storey so now it’s on its own on the edge of town.
Even as an iOS user who had a late start, I don’t think the currency it earns is essential – but a couple of times it has been handy to keep a character earning cash and then stagger them, which this helps me to do.

  5. I was SO disappointed in this….I would have loved to have added Deuce’s Caboose to my Springfield, but this is WAY too far out of scale! I tested out (without buying) it in several different neighborhoods of my town and it doesn’t work anywhere. Why can’t EA get their act together and pick a scale range that makes sense? (I know that everything can’t be at exactly the same scale, because it would man that, for example, some houses would need to be teeny, but there should be at least a reasonable scale *range*!)

This scale issue is one of my biggest gripes about this game, since I really enjoy the town-designing aspect of the game. (Hey – wouldn’t it be cool if each item had a “size” setting of say, small, medium, and large? I don’t think that would even take a ton of coding to accomplish…)

    • Disappointed as well, thought it would complement my Spruce Caboose. Even tried it in my USA portion of my oversized mini golf course and this hot dog stand is bigger than Americatown and even the Bastille and the Great Wall of China! Hopefully they’ll correct and rerelease.

      • Have they ever done that with a building? I can’t remember their ever ding that, but I didn’t start playing until around August of 2014 (and memory isn’t my strong suit.

        • They shrunk down the island you get on the friends prize track, I can’t for the life of me remember what it was called but it used to be MASSIVE when I first unlocked it.

  6. Can anyone tell me whether or not the 4 hour unemployment office automatically sends all gluttons for the 4 hour premium?

    • Wish I knew. Not sure how the Unemployment Office works with regard to multiple tasks of the same length. During the Halloween event it would send certain characters to (non-premium) wizard school for their 8-hour even if I had them in a costume that would otherwise earn premium.

I think it might just go by whichever task appears first in the character’s list.

    • Bump. Anyone have this and know if unemployment office sends characters on the 4 hour premium?

  7. Wasn’t an instant buy.. but I talked myself into it. I was expecting it to be smaller when I saw it in the store, the size made it an easier buy.

  8. Love the design. Going on my boardwalk!

  9. I was a little bit disappointed with this one. It was so big, and the way it was set up it seemed as if there would be an animation of the characters eating sitting on the stools.

    • I agree, it’s very big. Too big, in my opinion. It almost seems like EA finally noticed after 5 years, that buildings should be bigger than characters.

  10. Doesn’t it earn event currency too, though? A bit less than what the character tasks earn, but still.

  11. According to the store, it earns 6 badges every 4 hours. You don’t need it to complete the event on time but it does have a benefit for the event.

  12. looks nice, but for me its a pass.
60d is a ok price, but i save them for later on.

  13. gives 6 turkey every 4 hour.
