Black Friday Breakdown…Gold Mystery Box

Bonjour Beautiful Business-minded Bargain Box Budget Buyers & Barterers,

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “B”)

While yesterday Americans gave thanks and focused on the three F’s – Family, Food, and Football; today is Black Friday. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and is known for it’s promotional sales (Think “Boxing Day” sales the day after Christmas for those in the Commonwealth).

As was previewed on Monday in this post here, Black Friday has arrived and brought with it eight Mystery Boxes. So today we’ll take an in-depth look at each of these eight Mystery Boxes.

We conclude with the Gold Mystery Box!

This is a premium box full of your chance to get those premium character/building/decorations you may have missed out on or hesitated to buy earlier for a price of 1  token.  And…if you already have everything in the box you won’t see the box in your store.

Unlike other Mystery Boxes, this one is purchased with tokens. Everyone is given one free initial token. After this, in order to purchase additional tokens, one must spend real life cash.

By now we should all be familiar with how Mystery Boxes work, so let’s jump to the breakdown of what’s inside…

Here’s what you can win…

Bandit Fort – Originally 200 donuts, Should I Buy

Donut Boat – Originally 200 donuts, Should I Buy, comes with 5% bonus on all XP and Cash

Health Spa – Originally 200 donuts, Should I Buy, rewards 2.5 million REV

Himeji Castle – Originally 180 donuts, Should I Buy

Mansion of Solid Gold – Originally 250 donuts, Should I buy

Mars Colony – Originally 200 donuts, Should I Buy

Nerd Bundle (Doug, Benjamin and Gary) – Originally 195 donuts, Should I Buy, Full playable characters (three distinct characters)

Polo Field House – Originally 200 donuts, Should I Buy, rewards 2.5 million REV

Radish Station – Originally 200 donuts, Should I Buy, comes with 5% bonus on all XP and cash

Shadow Knight’s Throne with Shadow Knight – Originally 225 donuts, Should I Buy, comes with 2.75% bonus on all XP and cash, Premium skin for Bart

Shapes Gym with Muscular Marge – Originally 175 donuts, Should I Buy, Premium skin for Marge

Now, while I know you can’t pick and choose which items you want from the box, I included the Should I Buy posts from the past so you all can see how much they originally cost and what specifically each building, character, or decoration does.

1  token is a bargain for most of these items…except for items that were originally free, as getting it for free is the best deal…but still 1  token is a fair price for most of the items at least. So my thoughts are, if you have something in there you really want…give it a try. You’ll likely get something worth it. I will personally buy all the Character Mystery Boxes available to me first, as 80 dounts is a great deal for a premium character in my opinion.

And that’s it my friends!  The details on the Gold Mystery Box. Be sure to come back tomorrow when I go into details about the Cyber Monday Mystery Box.

What are your thoughts on the Gold Mystery Box? Have you tried it yet? What did you get from your free go at it? Did you spend any real life money for more tokens? If so, what have you won so far from the additional Gold Mystery Box(es)? What do you hope to get from this one? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I had complained about my game being frozen on the Gold Box screen, and getting no help from EA. Today I went ahead and spent the rest of my tokens, and lo and behold, that fixed the problem. I wish the EA people could have told me that 5 days ago. I bought quite a few items I liked from the boxes and a few I did not care about, but they were all a bargain, which makes it worthwhile.

  2. So I purchased two more tokens! First try I got the bandit fort. Wonk wonk wonk. Next try I got the nerd bundle( yay three characters). Happy!
In the gold box I got:
    Health Spa(free token)
    Bandit Fort
    Nerd Characters(was only wanting this)
    Himjei Castle
    Donut Boat
Shadow Knight Throne with Shadow Knight

  3. I wanted Shapes, but got the Shadow Knight, which I ended up liking more than I thought I would (his throne fit in well in my new Magic Academy area), and questline was pretty amusing.

  4. I thought that $4.95 for some donuts and 2 tokens was a great steal. I almost never spend real money on this game (except the one time they were giving away a ton of donuts, some in game cash, and a premium character-which turned out to be Frink). So I figured drop them a couple of bucks and get some nice stuff. Got the solid gold mansion with my free token. Then received Shapes and Marge with one and the weird radish with the other. All in all, I’m pretty happy.

  5. I got the Shadow Knight’s Throne, which I am quite happy with. I put his throne in the same area as this year’s Halloween items, since I’ve used those items and a lot of Castle Walls (thank you Excavation Site) to create a medieval fantasy district. In order to use part of my estimated kilometre of Castle Wall I was already planning to do this before I knew about the theme of the Halloween update, so this is only the beginning. Everything’s coming up Milhouse! … I mean me. No, my name’s not Milhouse, shut up.

But I digress. The throne is nice, but I kinda wish Shadow Knight was a standalone character. Of course he is Bart’s avatar from Earthland Realms, so it does make sense to have him as a skin. And even though I’ve been playing tapped out for 4 years total, this is actually my first premium skin for Bart. All in all I’m quite happy, and it’s nice to know everyone gets an item worth roughly 200 donuts for free.

  6. I got the Radish Station. A bit weird and doesn’t fit well in my town at the moment, but has a nice bonus, so I guess I can’t complain. I think I was lucky after all, I’m not interested in buildings (Shapes and a skin for Marge would be nice) or decorations without bonus, now I’m working on rising my multiplier.

    • The radish station can also be placed in the water ( that the squidport looks over)I think it looks nice in the water and that way It is kind of hidden away if it doesn’t fit in with your town design. 🐱🌸🌟

      • Thank you for this tip, I had no idea I could put on water. My Squidport area is a shame, I never buy ocean or build tiles, but have all the water of Heights.

        • You’re welcome 🙂
My Squidport area isn’t that great either, I need to try and re-design it.
(I think I need more tiles too)

          • I need more tiles too. I used to be so proud of my Squidport and Ornate Pier. I’m hoping Christmas doesn’t hit this Tuesday so that I can nuke and integrate everything from the past year and a half.

          • Hi Safi, 🙂
Same with me, but I need to think of a new Squidport design.
Hopefully the Christmas update will hit later in the week to allow us all more time.
The funny thing is, even though I forget about my Squidport at least
            I don’t forget about Krustyland. 🙂

  7. Got the mars colony with the free token. Then I comtemplated a while if I should get 2 more tokens. In the end I did and got the Donut boat and the three nerds which are the ones I wanted the most. So I’m satified with it. =)

  8. Totally lucked out on this one. Already had nerds, donut boat and gold mansion. Was prepared to spend a few bucks. Only really wanted Shapes/Marge and that’s what I got.

I think literally every other one of these is a “Run away. Run far away” in the SIBs.

  9. For my free token I got Himeji Castle and I got only one item left in the box which is the nerds so I might just buy another token just to get them.

  10. First up, great work Safi getting all these posts up. There’s a lot of work in each one – as well as the original work done in the Should I Buys.
While they can only occasionally convince me to part with real life cash (RLC), part of me does admire EA’s recent innovations in terms of convincing people to spend RLC. Things like this and the recent SVT peasant deal show a more… commercial mind than I can recall. Do you think we’re likely to see more of that in the future?

    • I think so. I think EA will continue this trend. If it keeps the game going, I’m all for it. If it weren’t for the people who spend real money on the game, we probably wouldn’t have as much content as we do right now. So thank you premium players!

  11. Can anyone confirm that the single Token deal goes away after purchase? Or can it purchased multiple times?

    • I purchased the single token deal, and the two token deal. After purchase it went back to the original non token deals, but after exiting my Springfield and going back, those token deals were available again. I don’t know if that’s just a lucky glitch with my game or not, but I am able to purchase those deals again in my game.
