Should I Spend Donuts on the Itchy and Scratchy Bot?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well, it’s officially Cyber Monday, and it looks like EA decided to extend our sales for another day!  Now the Black Friday & Cyber Monday boxes/items will leave stores tomorrow, November 28th.  Which means I can actually write a Should I Buy for the one brand new item to hit our towns this weekend!  So let’s check out the new premium bot….

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Itchy and Scratchy Bot to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this robotic Cat and Mouse to your town…

Character(s): Itchy & Scratchy Bot (2 bots walk/act as 1)
Donut Cost: 60 Donuts
Other Info: NPC (non-playable Characters), they walk and are animated when tapped.  NO tasks.

Leaves stores November 28th (EXTENDED)

Pros
-Comes with some funny dialogue
-Animated when tapped (see below)
-From a classic episode of The Simpsons

Cons
-NPCs, no tasks and no purpose in Springfield other than walking around town.

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
NPCs are almost always a toss-up.  They’re in the category of “if you like it, get it”.  Some people won’t spend a dime for NPCs since they serve no benefit for Springfield, others will spend all their donuts on NPCs because they make them laugh (I’m looking at you Brooders).  And some are like me.  Practical.  If you have a fond memory, you’ll get it.  Otherwise, you save your donuts.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can tell you I picked it up.  This episode is just too great not to mark my town.   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the dialogue it comes with…

Robotic Rebellion
Homer starts

Homer: The robot rebellion is finally upon us! Please, oh mechanical overlords, allow me to serve you and betray my fleshy brethren.
Bart: Dad, we already defeated the robots once. All we need is a camera with a flashbulb.
Homer: Yeah, but when was the last time you saw an actual camera? It’s every man for himself!  Take the boy, robot masters! He blasphemes your glory!
Tap Itchy and Scratchy Bot
Homer:  Looks like we defeated all the robots. By outsourcing their destruction to the Sky Finger. Ah, outsourcing, another gift from corporate America.
Bart: Yeah, but what about the next time machines try to destroy our society? Should we prepare?
Homer: What did you say? I just beat level 500 of Happy Elves.
Bart: Hmm, maybe they’ve already won.

And here’s what the animation looks like when tapped…

What are your thoughts on the robotic cat and mouse?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring them to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Find any other great Cyber Monday deals?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I would’ve liked more time to buy these. I checked in Sunday night and saw the “Cyber Monday” deals but no new items. I also saw no “new” option in my store.

  2. I’ll wait until next summer when I end up “winning” these in a limited special mystery box.

… when what I really wanted is Up Up & Away Buffet!
    >.> Gahhhhh!

  3. I Had a bug coming from buying this!
The completed task sound is playing nonstop on repeat now!

  4. “DIE ROBOTS DIE!!!….with cool, dry wit like that…..”
    Luv these!!!! No regerts….lol.

    • Bart: But, Mom, it’s exactly what you wanted in a vacation.
It brought us together as a family, we got a lot of good exercise outdoors and we have so many memories.
      Marge: You know, you’re right.
This truly was the best vacation ever.
Now, let us never speak of it again.

  5. They should’ve released the holographic one

  6. I think these two have quickly become my favourite npcs 😊

I love the animation with the chainsaw. Just brilliant!

  7. Bought this purely for the nostalgia. Does the level of happy little elves that homer says he’s on reflect what level you are on in tapped out as in my game he was on level 509 which I had just reached or was it just a coincidence.

    • If it was a message that shows on the level up screen, I think it was probably just a funny message that is to do with level 509.

Unless Homer has been playing on his ‘mypad’ at the Power Plant and then he probably really is on level 509. 🙂

      • No it wasn’t on the level up screen it’s part of the dialogue when I bought the itchy and scratchy robots.

In alissa’s post above homer says level 500 but in my game it was 509

Bart: Yeah, but what about the next time machines try to destroy our society? Should we prepare?
Homer: What did you say? I just beat level 500 of Happy Elves.

        • oops, sorry.

          I’m not too sure then.
I don’t recall what the dialogue was with mine.

I think it would be the same dialogue for everyone though.

Hopefully someone else who bought them recalls what he said?

        • I had level 500 in the dialogue, like Alissa, but my game is way past that.

          • Hmm that is strange then whilst I’m sure mine said different perhaps I’m just going crazy and imagined reading that homer is on the same level in his game as I am in tapped out.

  8. They don’t go into Krustyland?! 🙄
    They are just NPCs 🙄
I’m puzzled why EA just released them now, I mean they could easily have done an Itchy & Scatchy Land event 🙄 feels like that it less likely now 😓

  9. I’m sorry for postinh this here but I hope someone reads me… I’ve been having this bug with my game where I keep hearing the level up sound over and over again. No matter what I try, the sound remains bugged and stuck on a loop.

It’s hard to believe I’m the only one, but I haven’t read anything about it here or elsewhere so I dunno.

  10. if they were playable characters and cost more donuts for them to be playable i’d totally buy them. Not big fan of NPC unless I get it free.

  11. I bought these before confirming any SIB….I was thinking they were full characters, as I didn’t think they would charge that much for just an NPC (silly naive me)…..I never spend valuable donuts fo NPCs so this was the only Black Friday / Cyber Monday I regretted.

  12. And now the rEAl Itchy and Scratchy!

  13. I bought them- because I like Itchy and Scratchy.

I have only seen them walking around my town once since purchasing them,
but I don’t regret buying them.

1 of my favourite episodes is ‘Itchy and Scratchy Land’
But I don’t believe they really ran out of ‘Bort licence plates’ 😛

I would still like the real Itchy and Scratchy (in non robot form) as well. 🙂

  14. A large percentage of my NPCs are already in permanent storage…… this one is a pass.

  15. I’ve only recently released my freebie NPCs from my inventory so thanks for the extra day but I’m definitely Not Paying Cash for these.

  16. Not a bad NPC necessarily, from a classic, memorable episode, but probably the biggest con for me with them is that they’re in Springfield, not Krustyland. Obviously they’re not from Krustyland orignally, but it eventually turned into a mash-up of both Krustyland and Itchy & Scratchy Land as well as various other rides, so there’s no reason not to logically put them there other than that Krustyland is just a huge waste of space, which, I mean, it is, but still.

    • If they would of made them exclusive to Krustyland NOONE would buy them.

Who even still visits Krustyland these days unless it’s to complete a daily task that earns you a donut or two ?

      • I always visit my Krustyland whenever I stumble upon the bus to it. This happens once or twice a day.

      • Oh, definitely, no one would buy them for certain and hardly anyone visits Krustyland anymore. I certainly wouldn’t. Like I said, it’s a huge waste of space. But they are so out of place in Springfield when, as characters, they logically should go in Krustyland. It just shows how underutilized Krustyland was, that newly added characters who would belong there don’t get placed there.

      • I visit twice a day to collect tickets and, more importantly, tap the Sideshow You balloons. Every 300 taps, you get 5 donuts! 🙂

  17. Would of bought if Lady Bot and President Lisa wasn’t tempting me. Ended up getting Big Digi Ben and the Electric Cars, though. Eh, still pretty decent I guess. I have started to only spend donuts on the event mystery boxes or bundles, unless it’s something I REALLY want. (I’m talking to you, Rachel Jordan) Anyway I need to stop waffling on aha. Have a nice evening! 😊
