There’s nothing quite as beautiful as Springfield in the snow, is there? Yes, there’s no denying that it’s officially Winter in our pocket-sized towns as the 2017 Holiday Event blew into our towns with a major cold front! Of course, while the town is frosty cold the store is hot, hot, hot…and loaded with new premium items just tempting us to spend our sprinkles!
As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add J. Rigellian Christ & the Manger to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Alien Savior combo to your town…
Full Disclosure: You guys know how much I love this time of the year & this event is loaded with really good content, I do intend to purchase every single NEW premium item available. So I’ll do my best to provide an impartial view…but odds are it’ll be a little biased because I think the content for this event is phenomenal.

Pros
-Full character with complete set of tasks
-Comes with a questline
-Some hilarious animated tasks
-Manager has a fun look to it
-Uses the Manger for tasks, animated when in use star lights up
Cons
-Adds no benefit for the event
-While it’s become the norm, I do think 150 donuts for a non recurring character is over priced.
-Manger animation is pretty lame

Premium:
You already know from the above disclaimer that I bought it. I like it. He completes the Aliens set and his tasks make me laugh. Plus I have plans to add the Manger to my Rigellian area
Freemium:
Pass. Not worth spending your donuts for a character that won’t help with the event & isn’t vital to the show.
Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player, I already told you, I picked it up. But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

150 Sprinkles is about average for a Character + Building combo (although I think this is worth 100 since nothing here increases your ability to obtain Event Currency)

Sure thing. But it’ll be year from now and in a Mystery box with 17 other items you didn’t buy for 65 donuts each. Then you’ll complain that you wish you could just buy the one item you like.

We’ll, with the current brouhaha over Battlefront, it’s actually possible mystery boxes might not remain a thing if enough gaming commissions crack down.

What I needed was information on the Rigellian Queen skin.
I really, really could have used guidance on the Rigellian Queen herself as it cost me 100 donuts – not a mere 40.
All it appears to do is sit in my town. Doesn’t earn anything. Doesn’t add a bonus. Other than completionist, it is a bust. Although, the Queen came out for free just as I was starting to play and I was to poor to earn her. ,
I got the Rigellian Queen from the 2014 Halloween event as a prize, so in my store it cost the 40 donuts just for the festive skin while other skins for buildings are usually 10-30 donuts. The 100 donuts for the skin and the Queen is still expensive but it does give Kang and Kodos a permanent 20 hour tasks to Drink Hilarium which is a visual task. The animation when tapped of the festive skin is the same as the original look but an elf (Happy Little Elf) from the Christmas 2014 event appears in the pool which looks like it is drowning in the Hilarium (golden liquid) before you see only its hat on the surface.

Thanks for the info. I have the 100-donut version, too, and I was wondering what the “bundle” actually included. So it includes the queen, but she’s an NPC that didn’t do anything other than sit there? Good to know!
I was wondering… if I happen to get the desired prizes in the first few picks of “re-gifting”, then can I save up that currency for act 2? Meaning, will re-gifting stick around and I’ll be able to do a bunch of re-gifting right at the beginning…or even it is the same currency, will that counter reset?
Just wondering…how many were so fortunate in their re-gifting gameplay? Did you all get the stacks of ice first, and then the land tokens…and building towards the other Christmas prizes? Or, did most get the. Two Christmas themed prizes right away?
So far, I’ve gotten one of each (one ice bundle, one Christmas hill, and one land token). As soon as I’ve tapped two more Funzos, I’ll have the 90 wrapping papers I need to do another six rounds and get another prize – I seem to be able to get a prize a day from the regifting cannon – and then I’ll see what “tie-breaker” will be! 🙂
As to whether the wrapping paper will continue as currency…usually the mini games (re-gifter) and crafting currencies remain consistent throughout an event…only the different act’s currencies (batteries, for now) change when the act changes. That doesn’t mean EA can’t change the rules (surprise!), it’s just an indicator from what’s happened in the past. So, if you don’t redeem your wrapping paper till act 2, you will probably be ok…but no guarantees.
Personally, I love the ice tiles (been asking for them all year), so I’m happy no matter what I win. So far, I’ve won ice, land tokens and the small holiday hill (which, btw, goes perfect snugged up to the front of the Elf Toyshop).😁
I’m definitely going to get this, but I’m trying to pace myself to buying only one item a day, and today was the Egg Nog Bar! 🍹
Always knew I was going to get him but I was gonna put it off until the end of the event. I got impatient and got him yesterday.
The more Rigellian’s in my game the better.
What do Rigellians have for pets? Squids? That would be a fun addition🎄🦑🎄😁.
I’ve put the “beer-quariums” in my Rigellian area, since they have a tentacled octopus in them, and they could equally be filled with hilarium as with beer. Closest thing to squid i could find that sits in one place.
OT – the Christmas update brought snow to Austin last night. Our tenth snow day in 29 years (3 were fairly negligible but in central Texas we’ll take what we can get!)
Snow in Austin, while we’re still waiting for a real snow fall in Toronto, Canada. Who should we blame this insanity on? Maybe Kang? Or is it Kodos’ fault?

A colleague remarked to me yesterday that it seemed like it was snowing all over Texas… except here in Lubbock. That said, I’m originally from South Texas (Corpus area), and I’m willing to bet they didn’t get any, either. Oh well, I/we don’t want to be hogging it all, so enjoy the snow! 🙂
As soon as I saw this was a full character and not a skin I threw my donuts at it! I love the Rigellian aliens!
Wish I liked the building more. Maybe I can find a hiding place for it.
Definitely not cost effective, but I got it anyways for a similar reason as Alyssa – great addition to my Rigelian sector.
Bought it right away. I liked the idea behind it and it does fit will with the other items. I don’t love the fact that the character is not the same size as Kang and Kodos. I know he is supposed to be a “younger” alien but it just feels like lazy programming to get the scale similar. I do enjoy the tasks and thought he was worth purchasing.

off topic but has anyone else noticed that the burns summer mansion has snow as “the burns’ summer mansion” and “the west wing” but does not have snow with both wings?-.- like huh
The snow does appear on Burns’s Summer Mansion (with 2 Wings) when it’s facing away from the water. Try turning it. 🙃
If I had a nickel for every “pass, it’ll be back for a discount” comment. I’m a little surprised he has tasks for all the standard times (1, 4, 8, 12, 24). I’m on the fence with this one.
I’m like Alyssa with this event and simply bought it cause I love the theme. I loved the quest line; it had me laughing several times. The animationed tasks are funny too. Don’t feel I overpaid at all.
I am tempted, but I might just pass, it will come back at discount, hopefully. This events content is AMAZING though! I am SO getting Jack Frost no matter how much he costs, that Gnome episode is one of my favourites! And if he is a prize, even better!! 😊
There’s seriously no 4 hour grind this year? Just re-gifting and taking apart Funzos? Best event ever! Keep this up, EA!
If i had one cent everytime i sent all my springfielders in 4 hour jobs the last events via unemployement agency… well at least i had a donut when i started KEM farming so it’s something.
Now I am back to my TTTM schedule of sending them on visual tasks. Maybe I should invest in donuts but hollydays are more important.
