Should I Spend Donuts on the Returning Items in the Holiday Bazaar Round 2?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

There’s nothing quite as beautiful as Springfield in the snow, is there? Yes, there’s no denying that it’s officially Winter in our pocket-sized towns as the 2017 Holiday Event blew into our towns with a major cold front!  Of course, while the town is frosty cold the store is hot, hot, hot…and loaded with premium items from Christmases past tempting us to spend our sprinkles!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

This time around EA has added a Holiday Bazaar section of the store, an area FULL of rebated (and not rebated) items from holidays (and some other events) past.  If you’re not sure how to find the Holiday Bazaar in your store check out this postWondering if you should add any of these throwback items to your Springfield?  Let’s check it out…

Note: There will be 3 rounds of the Holiday Bazaar.  Right now rounds 1 and 2 are in the store, Round 3 will hit on the 22nd.

  1. Debbie Dovenbrink

Hello, does the Fever Cabin keep it’s snowy roof during the other seasins? If not, is there any building in the game that has snow on the roof throughout the year?
I would like to have houses with permanent snow on the roof. 🙂

Do you think that the Snow Couch Gag Scene, once it’s molten, can be used to pretend to have snow on a building’s roof?

    Can you help, please?

  2. Round 3 must have hit while I was still up Friday morning and has two great bonus items for net $10 each, one is the anti-Simpsons devil float ($40, $30 rebate, 2.5% ) and the other is another dunking device ($80, $70 rebate, 2.75%). Candy Kevin is back for fans for net $10 ($35, $25 rebate).

  3. Dunking Device (80-70) is a available with 2.75%. Get it if you don’t have it.

  4. Flanders’ Frozen Car was an instead buy, no SIB post needed. Still can’t believe they allowed 2.25% for only 10 donuts.

Also sucks that I don’t have the Christmas Float in my bazaar. Boo! I don’t believe I have a float but oh well. Other deals are so good, i don’t even care… much 😂😂😂

  5. Check out the new stuff in store today guys, some good bargains. I increased my percentage by 5.5 for 20 donuts spend.
Must admit I’m starting to like this event !!!
Just to save you asking Candy Kevin & Bonestorm Santa are NPC’s. I checked Alissa’s previous posts.

    • Thanks! I hadn’t really wanted Candy Kevin, but he is being offered at such a good deal that I was considering it, because I thought he might be a full character and I could just store him after the holidays if I really didn’t wasn’t to see him year-round. But, if he’s an NPC, I’ll probably pass (unless I decide I really want to complete that character group…).

  6. Meanwhile round three has arrived and has some real bargains for bonus hunters.

I suggest calculating a D/% ratio (net for rebate items) where

7.8 D/% is standard mystery box
10 D/% is Jet Bike from the vault
15 D/% is Shiva from the vault (figure, not the current character)
20 D/% is what EA seems to think is normal
Everything above 20 D/% should be really awesome. Else pass.

So instead of ‘Alissa, where’s the SIB?’ you should be able to identify bargains vs meh.

Of course people who populize their oceans with whales should simply buy everything 😄

    • Man… there are other reasons to buy than %!

    • What about the joy factor? To me, joy trumps bonus percentage…if something brings you joy to look at it or play with it in your town, then get out, even if it earns nothing at all.

      • Tomorrow I’ll reach 1000% c-o-m bonus. I’ve been working the last two months on it. Then I settle down a little bit, progressing slower.

As I’ve already mentioned: ‘bonus hunters’. (Like me.)

Of course a whale is also on my list. I bought Burns’ dragon ’cause it’s awesome.

Bonus hunters. This was meant to be helpful, not to be a directive what to do (or not).

  7. The Fever Cabin is 30 Donuts with a 20 Donut rebate for a low low price of 10 Donuts. If you like it, or need another cabin for your Springfield, now is the time!

  8. Out of two rounds, I think the only thing I got was the imaginary bear. All of the good stuff I already had (although I might possibly buy a few pagan fences near the end of the event, just to have them on hand for designing purposes), and I’m not buying stuff just for the bonus percentage at this point, since I’m satisfied with where I’m at with that and happy to just have my percentage grow more “organically” at this point. I do hope there’s something good to buy in the third round, though!

  9. when in i spend donuts in Shiva??

  10. Got the float and frozen Flanders car. Next buy is Patches and Poor Violet. I also got imaginary bear. I like NPCs, especially those that do more like Big Claw and the Halloween creatures. I paid full price for Jesus. Just didn’t seem right waiting for him to be discounted.

  11. I don’t have Otto. Why can’t I find him to purchase him?

  12. I still do not see the Christmas float, anyone know what is going on? I am 100 % sure I do not have it yet 😂

  13. Couldn’t resist 2.5% bonus for 10 donuts (net)…got Ned’s frozen car. Not sure what I’ll do with it when Springfield is green again…maybe make an Ice Island (with ice tiles) and move the snow people there too. Wish I could move the icebergs to an inland sea as well, but no luck there.

    • I’ve put it facing the crashed prison van (that came with Gina Vendetti, I think); I’m hoping in the spring it’ll look like a car crash under my monorail.

  14. Thanks for this post. Me, like an idiot just casually glanced over the Christmas Float, not realizing the net cost was 0 (Usually, I hate spending donuts on holiday decorations of any kind). Without you guys I probably would have passed up the free .5% for no reason.

  15. I got 8 tiny reindeer. Already had 7 but they’re in my large park. It’s been designated a historic landmark and can not be changed. It was my first large project and I rather like it.
NowI’m planning on making it look like they’re pulling the Christmas float. Their off season job. Now I need a Rudolf. Perhaps I could buy another reindeer and place one of the taller buildings with the red lights match up with his nose.

  16. Noobs
Take advantage of the deals (especially the FREE Xmas Float)👍

    jingle jangle 🎅🎄🤶

  17. Wooly Bully is a GREAT song! EA could have used it as the sound bite for this building.
I did this with my eight reindeers:

    • I was really hoping the train would be part of a new monorail-type system with tracks and stations. Another non-moving vehicle…my first dissapointment with this event.😞

      • At least it’s free !

      • Even If EA made it possible to run the locomotive on the monorail track, it would be nice.

        • People keep saying stuff like this, but trains and monorails run on entirely different types of tracks! That’s why they call them MONOrails! Train tracks need two rails.

But, yes…having trains without train tracks is a bit lame (although the good one didn’t bother me as much, since I took it to be more of a decoration than a functional train). Actually, although I’ve never read or seen Polar Express, doesn’t that train fly? if that’s the case, I guess no tracks are needed! 🙂
