Christmas 2017 101: Crafting Item Overview

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Ah the Crafting post….where I give you the how-to and break down each and every item available to craft, so you don’t miss a thing!

Love it or hate it, EA has proven over the last couple of years that crafting is here to stay.  While the prizes themselves are pretty self-explanatory, collect this to earn these prizes, crafting is a whole other “animal”.  Crafting requires some self-direction.  You decide what you want and collect the items to craft accordingly.  Sometimes this is successful and sometimes it’s not. And, as with all things, for some events crafting is easier than others.

Now I know some of you still have questions so, let’s take a look…

By now everyone should know how crafting works.  But for those who don’t, I’ll cover the basics again.  But real quick, so I know a chunk of you won’t read what I write anyway…

Note: Once again I apologize this is going up so late…that wasn’t my plan.  This is a shorter event, and there’s so much going on (especially with the holidays) and I tried to cover more pressing posts first (like SIBs)

And now onto the basics….

Crafting is triggered via Jesus’ Carpentry Shop via the MAIN questline…The Invasion is Snow Joke Pt. 6

Tapping the shop will bring you to the crafting menu.  You can also access the crafting menu via the event hub menu by clicking the trophy icon and then the crafting icon…

The Crafting Currency is Magic 2×4, they look like this:

You can earn Crafting Currency from:
-Tapping Robo Funzos
-Re-Gifting Machine
-Neighbor’s Towns

Crafting consists of different levels.  Each level unlocks more items to craft.  You spend crafting currency to level up. And once again they’ve decided to stick with what’s worked in the most recent events, you do NOT have to choose between Leveling up and Crafting.  The currency you spend to Craft items will count towards the currency needed to Level up!

Similarly…you DO NOT HAVE TO CRAFT ITEMS TO LEVEL UP. You can level up by simply tapping the green button next to the level up bar.

It still takes crafting currency, but it prevents you from crafting a bunch of stuff you may not want in order to level up.

So the choice is yours, you can level up as you craft items.  Or you can just level up without crafting items.

And as with previous events, crafting ends when the event is over.  There’s no rush to get it done now, you can wait until the event is almost over to get everything your tapping heart desires…

And finally, there are 13 total crafting levels.  You’ll start at Level 1 so you’ll need to level up 12 times (to reach level 13), in order to unlock all of the craftable items.  Here’s the breakdown of how much currency is required to reach each level and unlock new items:

Level to Reach Currency Required to Reach
2 20
3 140
4 300
5 465
6 640
7 830
8 1170
9 1520
10 1895
11 2295
12 2715
13 3145

So now that we’ve gone over those basics, let’s get to why most of you are reading this post…the breakdown of each craftable item.

Let me preface this by saying, for this event most of the craftable items are decorations.  Therefore, what to craft and how many is entirely up to you…as to what you think will work best in your Springfield.  There are some great decorations that can work in a variety of ways in Springfield (depending on how you’re building your town) but it’s up to you to determine what works best for your town.

My Personal Opinion on Craftables…
As always get what you like/what will work for your town.  The Simpson Gingerbread house is fun, but if you don’t have a place for it in your town it’s not worth getting.  So get what you like/what you need for your design.

So again…don’t kill yourself trying to get all this stuff.  Sometimes less is more. Craft what you have a use for in Springfield….

Hope that helps some of you who have been stressing out over crafting!

And there you have it my friends…the details behind Christmas Crafting!  Again sorry this is going up so late!

  1. Debbie Dovenbrink

Do you think the snowperson security guard will stay melted during the snowless months?

  2. Crafting – 💜 my Gingerbread Houses / Gingerbread Simpson’s House, but disappointed that EA made these Decor only (yes they’re animated when you Tap them, but prior years would’ve offered these as Buildings that generate $ and XP).

I will thank EA for a better Xmas Event (compared to last year), along with some Decor that you can Craft (to keep a Yuletide theme); but Decor only? C’mon EA, this isn’t how to reward Long Time Tappers! 🤔

  3. I ended up crafting everything a day or two ago. All these items are new to me. Now I’m just saving up my crafting points to craft an additional Gingerbread mansion and house, and I like having additional poinsetta’s, lollipop flowers, ice wall, gum drops, so with my left over points I will probably use on the last day. I loved all the crafting items but I REALLY loved the gingerbread mansion, how cute was it to see a ginger bread version of the Simpsons on its lawn?

  4. Simple question which one is the best item per currency spent for xp on placement

  5. Does anyone have an issue with the game resetting all the plot/quest counts after completing all of the xmas questline?
Homer’s Pieman quest is now back on my account, along with a Gil offer for Duff Gardens and Lizard queen, all my crafting counts for the Xmas questline has been reset, and my tap radius has shrunk down to one building. =(

    • Same thing happen to me in act 1. I continued thinking an update with a patch was coming. After a week I contacted EA. Their response was my last save was corrupted and my town has to be reset before the glitch happen. But I could lose progress I made in a week. I told them to do the reset and lost all of my progress. The act 1 prizes I have gotten so far. Could not gain them back since only two days until act 2 were left. I suggest contacting EA ASAP so you can regain all the progress you made after the corrupt save.

  6. Noticed that Snowperson Security Guard awards XP on placement. Not sure if anything else does.

    • The gum drop rocks definitely do award XP. How much might depend on your bonuses and the XP collider, though. I just placed one and saw 700XP plus more fly by. My Simpson’s House gives 32XP instead of the usual 1XP because of bonuses and the collider.

    its not too late…

  8. I like most of these items and plan to craft multiples of nearly all the new items, the only returning item I am crafting multiples of is the Festive Nutcrackers because before this event I only had 1 Nutcracker and that was from 3 years ago. I will also craft a few Gingerbread Houses because they could be useful in future designs, the Snowperson Security and Wooden Soldiers would be great for guarding Christmas areas or other areas of Springfield. The Elf Door and the North Pole Columns do look great nears Santa’s House, the Stables and Elf Cabins. The Candy Cane Fences (CCF) are great for multiples with a pack of 4 fences for 20 2x4s (or 5 2×4 each), it does even not make sense that the Rigellian Christmas Walls cost 40 2x4s for 1 (it could of also been in the pack of 4 like the CCF) but I will still craft more of the fences and walls. The Gum Drop Rocks also work well in Christmas areas or in a chocolate or a gingerbread area with the Gingerbread Simpson House. The Poinsettias are another plant that can be used anywhere in Springfield because it is nice to have a variety of plants available. 😀

  9. Yet again, the earning of crafting currency has been much harder than it used to be. I guess this is the new norm. Shame when I’m used to being able to craft multiples of everything I want.

  10. And the Festive Bell Lamp Post is not unique.

  11. I love the gum drop rocks the best! ♥🎅♥

    • Me, too! I keep coming back to them. They look like carefully pruned and dyed bushes to me. I have them stashed all over. An about to go on a gumdrop rock spending spree.

  12. The Gingerbread House is the only item I really, really like

  13. I craft everything I can, and put a lot in storage, because you never know when something will fit in great later on.

  14. Josephine Kick@$$

    I read it…
btw, the elf door is unique 😘 (you knew that, you were just testing us, right?) 😂😂😂

  15. Once again, I’ll just stock up on fences and walls (and a few Poinsettias).

  16. This was easy for me…I really don’t want any of this stuff…except maybe the ice fences…I assume they turn into mush when winter is over? And I assumed The Gingerbread Simpson House was just a skin for the regular house…if I could put it in Krustyland it might be fun.

  17. Tip for those who bought Praise Land a few months back: the Carpentry shop fits in great in Praise Land! I added it plus the manger to create a Xmas section (plus a gingerbread house or two!)

    • I dismantled my Praiseland as soon as I bought it. The boat when into Duff Gardens, along with The Paralyzer. Solomons Temple went into my Egypt / Museum area. The Forbidden Tree went into my Magic Academy Halloween area. I’m still not sure what to do with the Gate, so I just slung a “Pagan Winter Carnival” in front of the words. I kept cranking out walls but they’re all in storage… my original intention was to put them around the Pop stage, but I have yet to do it

  18. Minor correction: the Elf Day Care Door is unique.
