I know many of you will be spending the day (And night) with your family and friends celebrating the New Year…and of course, it IS Sunday, so I thought it’d be a perfect time for a New Year’s Eve Open Thread!

Is anyone else having trouble clicking on a character in the upper left corner bubble, or their range of tapping shrink back to pre-IRS building? I have tried hard closing the game, deleting and reinstalling the game, but it still is having the same issues.
Me!! I’ve been on with EA since before Christmas trying to solve it – they tried to do 2 windback with no effect and are now ignoring my emails! I hope the take down of the event will rectify things.

Happy New Year everyone. Hi Mab and everyone. Well good news finally. I start working Tuesday. It’s temporary, but it’s a job so I’m happy. My dad is hiring me to help with his painting company, more than likely just clean up etc but its work yay! So I am happy. Currently it is -2 so we are staying in for the day. Happy tapping and stay warm.
First thought of 2018….why can’t I expand heights?? It only allows me to go back about 10 plots and I need more space😡😡😤. Oh and I want world peace, an end to famine, dogs and cats to get along etc…
I completely agree!!! I want new Springfield Heights items and I want to expand the land (a lot). Oh, and also world peace and the other stuff.
Thank You EA for a great Christmas event. The more flexible update vs. every 4 hrs was nice. Although I have liked the craftable income buildings, I think it more fair to have them in the prize line Like was done in the Christmas event. If you choose not to craft you don’t lose much. I hope the new year brings returning and new items to purchase. The Christmas portfolio was awesome.

The same thing here. I play on a smartphone, so it’s great to be able to see everything so close. But like you said, the widest view is now much smaller. I’d prefer the original, pre-update view. But ideally, they should expand the zoom ranges so you can see close AND get a wide angle view as well.
Whoops, this double-posted. It’s a reply to two other notes about yesterday’s update that changed our game viewing size. Did anyone else experience this? I wonder if it’s targeted at smartphone players so we can more easily read the text and see all the stuff… which actually is a huge bonus.
What craftable item is everyone stocking up on?
I’m going to craft a lot of candy cane fences. They look awesome in the snow. Probably not so good once the snow melts in Springfield. I need enough to surround my Christmas area which will continue to grow.
I’ll probably craft an army of wooden soldiers too. Someone has to defend Springfield.
Ice fences, candy canes, Christmas walls, in no particular order. I’m not likely to use any of them, but these are the things I’m most likely to use.
I miss being able to craft buildings. I have so many spooky houses and retro-style townhouses…
The spooky houses, spooky cabin and retro townhouses are great currency earners.
I have a bunch of spooky houses, retro style townhouses and spooky cabins as well, they look great and earn good cash. But since there are no buildings to craft I’m stocking up on the floweres because I like them and I already have a bunch of the other stuff.
Poinsettias will hopefully look good all year long. Deliberating on finally having a year round Christmas area, so maybe ice walls.

Happy New Year, tapparinos. I had 50 donuts left, so I took a chance on the Mystery Box one more time and picked up King Winter. That makes him, Jesus, Rabbi Krustovsky, Shiva, Santa, the Grumple, and Buddha, and Jack Frost as brand new characters from this event. It has been a good time, but I’m looking forward to going back to 24 hour tasks and limited tapping for awhile.
Agree. Seems to have been non-stop since Halloween.
Does anyone have a strategy for the monorail game – is there a pattern to what comes up in the three slots? I seem to get far more metal than plastic or glass and I find myself playing the lower paying slot to try to get more plastic and glass opportunities, yet my plastic and glass usually remain maxed out. I’d like to maximize the donut output, of course.

I did a little experimental math in Excel, recording each slots contents.
Multiply the needed ressources with the hours needed to produce them.
Metal * 1, plasic * 2, glass * 3. Junk * 1/120.
You’ll get a (life-)time biased value. Divide it by the blueprints you get.
The blueprints per time value are roughly the same for all slots.
No need to say that ‘Metal days’ are nasty, you’ll have to be online every hour to advance as fast as with glass jobs.
Generally KEM farming is more effective for gaining donuts.
Monorail grinding is a luxury I do only when I don’t want to expand my KEM farm any more and don’t need the Money the grinders would otherwise earn. And then on a 4h base, no need to rush.
Playing the Drone Scan exceeds the junk storage (mine is currently 31,929 of 2,000 😛 ).
I was hoping to get a couple of extra free land tiles through repeating the funzo attack game. Almost got through all the gifts a second time in act 1, but never got the land as it was last and I ran out of time. Same in act 2, got everything except one building and the land, and have a feeling my next one will be the building. Has it been written that way to keep people tapping, or have I just been unlucky?

I think you have been unlucky. I have gotten the free land tile first, second, third, etc. Different in each of my towns. Though I dont think it has been last in any of them.
Once you have won all the prizes, you will be awarded………..10 magical 2×4’s!
Yeah, that was a joy to discover. Play through six cycles, net ~20 2x4s each… and get 10 2x4s as a reward. Give me something worth crafting and that “reward” might creep up to “not a direct insult to my family honor”.
At least we still get 23-24 boards each time we play the re-gifter…thats around 140 for 6 plays, plus 10 at the end. I’ve been getting around 200+ boards a day which makes it still worth playing for me. Trying to stockpile ice walls so I can expand my Ice Palace area during the year…never seem to have enough of any kind of walls or fences, so they are always my priority.
Happy New year to all, I really enjoyed the Christmas event. I got some donuts for Christmas and thought I would buy the Springfield sign but I can’t find it, my husband checked on his tsto and its also missing. Is it no longer for sale or is this a glitch.
Maybe it is a vault item? Not really sure, though. That would be my guess, though.
Yes, the Springfield Sign is a Vault item. It is sold for 170 donuts with 45 rebate, 125 net.

I’m really excited to see what 2018 will bring to our Springfields. For the first time since I started playing (clash of clones) I’ve reached a point where I’m at a standstill until I have some new land. I was banking on getting some with the Christmas update so until it comes I’ve got a whack of stuff waiting along the edges. I know exactly how I want it to look, I’ve just got nowhere to put it lol
I stopped grinding at the railyard a couple of days ago. I’ve got a little KEM farm (Super Safi method all the way) and all the track I could possibly ever need. The juice wasn’t worth the squeeze anymore, or rather the donuts 🍩. Also, most of those characters have premium skins/are premium so it just seems to make more sense to have them earning money.

I’ve run into the same issue, as well as topping out with the number of pieces in my town…it’s now a matter of storing something old for anything new. It does force me to really look at my town, tho, and decide what I don’t really love and could live without.🤔

I finally have reached the Magic Spot — no more Characters available in my store. Well, one, the HUGE Springfield Gourge, but that is a really expensive Skin for Bart, so I don’t call it a true Character. And I think I only have about half a dozen left to purchase as they (if they) become available again.
Whew!!

Now I’m looking at maybe, possibly purchasing Lisa’s Recycling Plant, but the Info Button only says it generates Blueprints — which was of value during the Event in which it was first made available, but now?????
Neat animation, but what does it do now?
The blueprints it generates are the same ones you send everyone recycling for… to get monorail prizes (and 5 donuts). It pays out every 4 hours, everyday, so you are a little ahead when you start another cycle of workers at the recyclers. I don’t remember how much it pays out (mine is now stored, don’t do the recycling thing anymore), but someone here will know.
Blueprints are what you earn from the recycling centers…with the Little Lisa plant, you earn 450 of them every four hours, without having to do any recycling tasks. It’s a slow way to earn the donuts from the rail yard (25,000 divided by 450 = 55.56, so if you collect, say, four times a day, it will take about two weeks to earn the five donuts from the rail yard), but it requires almost zero effort. I thought it would earn more, so I was a bit disappointed about that when I got it, but it has a nice animation and I’m not sorry I got it. (That said, if you’re a non-farming, freemium player, it might not be the top of the list of the best thing to spend you’re precious donuts on. But, if you’re not tight on donuts, I say go for it!)
The blueprints will help you get more track pieces for the monorail and the 5 bonus donuts you can get from it.

The plant still generates blueprints towards monrail pieces and 5 donuts. I don’t remember if I got it with the event or bought it due to liking the episode. Besides the blueprints and animation it doesn’t do anything. If you search the site you can find more info on the plant and using blueprints to get monorail pieces and donuts. Hope that helps.
The plant is more valuable since EA removed the weekly limit on recycling.
Since this is open thread, im curious, i did an update like 4 5 mths ago, it made the size of my springfield smaller, so i could see more of my town, well today i get a huge update, all to make the size bigger, so now i cant see as much as b4, i hate this!!!! Idk if whoever sees this gas actual power over the game but if u do, please, i want my smaller springfield back!!
This happened to me as well. Does anyone know anything more about this? Is the re-biggining a feature/glitch? Was the zoomed out Springfield the feature/glitch? Can we get the zoomed out view back? It was so much easier to play/tap before this update.

I believe it’s due to the resolution… I play on an emulator so I’m able to adjust it. Initially I set it at 1920 x 1080 but found I couldn’t zoom out as far as I could when it was say 1280 x 720. The absolute highest resolution you can use is 1696 x 954. Any higher and I can’t zoom out as far. Lower is fine as far as zooming out goes, but the quality will degrade.
It does seem that it downloads a different set of assets, which you will notice if you switch from say 1280 x 720 up to 1920 x 1080… the latter will download another 1 GB of data, while the former is probably around 500 MB. Switching between high and low resolutions forces a download each time. So I guess at high resolution display it’s downloading higher resolution objects, but they require more memory & cpu to display so they restrict the zoom level.
Further to my previous point, try downloading the Samsung Game Tuner and using it set your game mode to “maximum quality”. And if you’re on iPhone then I have no idea how to help you
I can confirm that adjusting the resolution solved this issue on my phone. Here’s the thing: DECREASE the resolution ratio to get a wider/better view. It seems countertuitive. As soon as I downloaded the game tuner and made the adjustment, Tapped Out downloaded the smaller update (approx. 1 gig), and I was back where I was a few days ago.

I’m happy to be finishing up my first full event since I stopped playing during the Christmas 2014 event. Worst decision ever, and I’m glad to be back!
Wow. A three year hiatus. What made you start tapping again? Did you have any neighbors left when you returned?
A year ago today I dreaded ringing in 2017 as I knew it was going to be a tough year. I spent this year being treated for and beating cancer and it wasn’t quite as bad as I thought. I was lucky and didn’t become really sick from the treatments. I’m doing very well and very much looking forward to 2018. Hoping for continued health and a job (sooner rather than later) for the new year. Looking forward to Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years celebration on ABC. May all you New Yorkers keep warm watching that ball drop.
May everyone have a very happy, healthy, and blessed new year. Most importantly for today/tonight, please celebrate responsibly. Figure out your game plan for getting home safely now. Many won’t and drive drunk and we all want to see you tapping in 2018. Even if you are the designated driver or choose not to drink tonight, map out your routes home to ensure you’re not surrounded by cars that may not have responsible drivers.
I tried to like your post, but something is screwed up with WordPress not remembering me on this site (every time I post a comment, I have to fill in the fields below and then log into WordPress) and it won’t seem to take my “Like.” But congrats on your victory over cancer and happy to hear that the treatment wasn’t too bad. They’ve certainly made a lot of progress with that in recent years!
I think the biggest thing that kept be functional everyday through it all was the fact that my chemo was low dose. The treatments didn’t knock me down. I fell asleep a lot on the couch at night and spent weekends resting, but I was able to work full time through it all before they let me go. There were other sides effects but I managed through them and adjustments were made through the process. Chemo, radiation and two surgeries were what I went through this year. I don’t feel stronger for going through it all, but I know it’s quite an accomplishment, although to me it doesn’t seem that way. The treatments didn’t knock me down – just slowed me down a little. And yes, advancements have been made and I love hearing about any treatment advancement for any type of disease.

Happy New Year Everyone.
Thank you all for the messages and positive energy you have been sending southwards – it was much appreciated!
After a terrible start to my Christmas period things have calmed down. I must confess that I have been truly lazy and done the bare minimum to keep my garden alive and not much more. But it has been necessary. Still 1 week left of leave (or is it 2…) which will be busy so I’m glad I recharged as much as possible!
I have included some more flower pictures for those of you in the frozen north – hope you are all staying safe, warm and cozy with your icy weather! Hasn’t really been summer yet down here – most days have been in the high teens or low 20s – perfect chilling weather. But it looks like warmer weather is on the way so I have got the pool ready just in case…😄
Event is done. Will craft more things but otherwise it’s wait and see what the New year will bring. I’m ready EA! 😄

Happy to hear things are getting a little better, and I really appreciate seeing your warmer-weather pictures. We’ve been in the single digits (occasionally making it up into the teens) for several days now, with no end in sight for the moment. I’m planning to go out briefly later today and I’m sure I’ll get even more than the usual number of stares at my shorts, which I have to wear because my disability makes me unable to tolerate anything brushing against my left leg. So, I’m prepared to hear the umpteenth “Aren’t you cold?” comment today, for sure!
My sense of humor is EXTREMELY warped……
Very cold temperatures are described as being frigid.
Perhaps you can respond to such questions by saying that you are Very Cold.?

Happy New Year MAB and all! Managed to finish this update with a few days to spare in my three towns. It was a welcomed distraction as unfortunately I lost my amazing husband of fourty two years on December fifth. He had a debilitating respiratory illness that took him way too soon. I and my family can only remember him for the incredible man that he was,and know that now he is set free from his pain and can breathe again. Here’s to a better year ahead.

That’s a huge bougainvillea (the “wild thing” with the pink flowers). It looks like it’s climbed up the side of a normal tree as they tend to do. I have 3 bougainvilleas in my backyard… one pink like yours, one purple, and one half-pink/half-white. They grow very voraciously, so I’m forever pruning them. They also have some wicked thorns on them, so it almost always bites me back 😉
