Should I Spend Donuts on the Preppers Compound & Lloyd?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Christmas is gone but snowy Springfield is still here!   We’ve got an all new mini- event to work our easy through.   (Politics and Stonecutters, what could go wrong?)  Of course, while the town is still frosty cold the store is hot, hot, hot…and loaded with new premium items just tempting us to spend our sprinkles!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Preppers Compound & Lloyd to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Apocalypse king to your town…

Character: Lloyd

Preppers Compound
Donut Cost:
150 Donuts

5×8
Earns:
$90, 10xp/4hrs
Conform-O-Meter:
Vanity

Leaves stores January 16th, 2018

Pros
-Full premium character
-Comes with a questline
-Helps earn Executive Orders for questline
-A couple of amusing outdoor animated tasks
-Building is animated when in use (and Lloyd will use it beyond the questline)

Cons
-Not Voiced
-Pricey for a barely seen character combo

Final Thought
Premium:
This is one of those on the fence combos for me.  I’ll likely buy him before the event is over  but I’m not in a rush.  Can successfully complete event in plenty of time without him.  A little pricey and it’s barely seen character.  So it’s a meh…see what happens next week before you pick up combo.

Freemium:
I’d pass on this duo.  Save your donuts for a couple of better characters, but if you still have donuts come January 15th and really want him then grab him.  But for now I’d pass.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player, I’m on the fence   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at his tasks…

Lloyd’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Check Propane Tank Levels 1hr $105, 26xp Preppers’ Compound
Journal Apocalyptic Thoughts 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual
Prepare for the End 8hrs $420, 105xp Outside/Visual
Pretend He’s a Big Shot 12hrs $600, 150xp Preppers’ Compound
Escape to the Woods 24hrs $1000, 225xp Preppers’ Compound

What are your thoughts on the Compound & Lloyd?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring them to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed in the Compound in your town? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Pass, pass, pass … I’m Kem Farming for the rest of the Stonecutters Discounts (this completists dream has come true!) and those Tunnels 🤣👍

    • Well Lloyd’s visual tasks are really nice. Don’t sure why, but a lot of “not so important” characters have best animations in the game.

  2. This seems like it would fit best in the woods. My woods are getting a bit crowded, so I’ll probably pass.
…unless I decide to put more woods on the other side of town. Which I might, now that I’m thinking about it.

  3. I purchased because I have pretty much everyone else besides Dr.Terwilliger, Barbarian and Zutroy. Its disappointing that they don’t incorporate more characters in the events. They need to do more with the premium characters like they did last year with that airport event when you could send various characters on flights. I feel like most characters are dead weight aside from the event you purchase them in. Glad they added stone cutters to this event, I didn’t have any of them.

  4. Splurged in stonecutters because they are a great deal and I’ve wanted them since I started. Will try to get this too because the character was voiced by the great Tom Waits. I know the character in game isn’t voiced but it still cracks me up. Anyone interested in what can best be described as “bizarre alt-Americana rock music” should check out his albums “Mule variations” and “bad as me”. It’s not for everyone but I love it.

  5. Gotten’, because I acquire everything, some only to store, because of size, but you never know what future character/building may provide a tie-in. Any and all characters. I wish you could buy more All Seeing Eyes?

  6. Is anyone else having trouble placing water on the new land they gave us?

  7. Rose or Lloyd? If you can choose ony one…

  8. I picked up both Rose & Lloyd for number of random reasons.
    -Liked/wanted the buildings.
-To keep Recyclers going at the Railyard
-See if I can complete the mini-event with just them earning tokens. A long shot maybe, but I like a good challenge.
-Another woman in Springfield (& funny too!)
-Had all Stonecutters stuff except Hibert. Set complete!

I like the mini-event/episode tie-in combo. It’s fun to work at multiple storylines at once.

  9. Purely with the freemium characters I’ll complete the event by Monday and have nothing of the Stonecutters stuff (yet, mwahaha!!), so I’ll wait to see what the tie in offers and how many more sprinkles I farm.
If you saw my “irony” post on the walkthrough, well I went for it and will get the skins, lodge and table for stonecutters first and those 5 items in the mystery box in my store.
Looks like the tunnels (and the crowds) are a pass though unless the SIB tempts me when it comes, and I’ll have a root round for the details on the stone and the ark in earlier posts.

  10. I didn’t realise that he was named Lloyd, when I watched the episode he was in he did not get named by anyone. It does seem like 150 donuts is the same price for characters offered with mini events lately with Mary Spuckler, Amber Dempsey and Quinn Hopper all costing the same amount of donuts. This would of also been a great time to bring back L.T. Smash because he relates to the apocalyptic theme to this update.

  11. Pass

  12. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Character + Building = instant buy.

  13. I will skip both Rose and Lloyd. Neither is a character I want. If they are offered at a discount later, then I’ll happily welcome them into my town as I like a good deal, but there are still more prominent characters that I want and haven’t sprung for at similar prices.

  14. David Billington

I make approximately 30 donuts everytime I log in (4/6 hourly) through my KEM farming so I got the combo straight away. To be honest I’m quite impressed with the buildings etc we’ve been offered in this mini-event

  15. I want to get him but I’m waiting to see what the tie-in brings and how I feel about it near the end. We have plenty of time.

  16. I already bought this character I really enjoy that they animate him a little more than the other characters ( In my opinion) since he doesn´t talk. He does a cool mirror effect” thingamajig ” LOL!

  17. I only promote sales that offer a higher percentage for earninings from rent and tasks. Secondly. Check the value for one donut and evaluate… is it really worth spending 150 dollars?

    • How do you figure a dollar per donut? Buying donuts in the store costs between 4 cents (boatload of 2,400) to 16 cents (box of a dozen) each. So, even if you’re buying your donuts by the box (which isn’t a good move…try to go for at least a truck’s worth), a 150 donut character would cost $24, not $150.
