Christmas is gone but snowy Springfield is still here! We’ve got an all-new mini- event to work our easy through. (Politics and Stonecutters, what could go wrong?) Of course, while the town is still frosty cold the store is hot, hot, hot…and loaded with new premium items just tempting us to spend our sprinkles!
As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the Capitol Building to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this dome building to your town…

Premium:
Another meh building. It’s visually nice, the animation is great. But there’s no permanent task there, it’s a massive building…plus the event currency isn’t necessary to complete the event on time. Personally, I’d pass on this one.
Freemium:
Freemium players should avoid this one. Complete freemium pass.
Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player, I’m passing. But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Hi, they talk about an transporter in the dialogue but it’s obviously just a joke, this building does not transport you anywhere, right? 😉 (yes, the question might sound a bit naive, but I just gotta know for sure ;)).
I live just outside of DC and consider myself quite fortunate to see this building on a pretty regular basis. In fact, I was standing on the steps of the real thing just a week ago. It is beautiful and should be on every American’s bucket list.
My wife and I took our daughter and spent New Year’s Day at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum looking at dinosaur/animal skeletons, mummies, gems/minerals, etc.
The Capital building stands at the head of the national mall with the Washington monument at the other end; the Smithsonian museums line each side between the two. Despite it only being about 12 degrees and wanting to get inside because we were freezing, we had to walk down so my daughter could see it up close (she is 6 and I’m a softy).
P.S. Of course I bought it.. because.. well… America.
*You’d also think that somebody who lives there would know how to spell it properly.. but you would be wrong 😜 (We’ll call it fast careless typing on little sleep)

No. There are numerous posts on this site about each item individually if you search. Including SIB posts.
Could u tell us which ones earn freemium vs premium?
I’m sure the community would be happy to help answer that.
Iirc… All of the Stonecutter skins earn at premium rate for 1 hour and 12 hour tasks at the Stonecutter Lodge.

I finished the event yesterday (Monday NZT) so it’s back to business as usual. I was mulling getting this one for souvenir purposes but wasn’t actually that interested. After seeing its dimensions and reading the comments about size and proportion, I’ll be passing. I’m still pleased I got the Capital City Capitol though.
Since posting, I’ve been wondering whether to get it in case Americatown comes back – it could make a good combo. Then I wonder if AT might come back as a mystery box and shudder in horror at the prospect…

Even if you like it (like I do), I say pass because there’s a good chance you could score this building during the 4th of July with a direct rebate or in a mystery box.
I usually buy most of the buildings but I passed on this one. It just seemed too similar to my city hall and I didn’t want to rearrange my whole “municipal” area. I’m also already having to jam buildings in wherever they’ll fit at this point while we wait for more land.
What is a “municipal”?
Maybe it’s a Canadian thing lol. Municipal areas have the government buildings and offices.
Speaking of space being wasted. Question for the frequent Tappers. Do you think It´s better to have a few buildings with fence and a nice setup VS having most/ALL the buildings you own together?
Impossible for me to make an ideal Springfield with trees and fences with the space allotted

Things end up being crammed unfortunately
I design with the idea of clusters, preferring designs with good arrangement and flow, minimizing footprint while filling gaps with decorations creatively. I avoid the grid system and try to add dirt, water, and trees to make it interesting. But yeah buildings are crammed until they fit well into a design. My biggest complaint is that roads are stuck to their own grid which makes designs more challenging. Cheers!

Personally for me it’s not “massive”. It’s in the right scale in comparison to every other old state building- look how doors and windows are small. Sometimes they do something big what should have been much smaller but not this. Definitely good one! And I hope for more normal buildings in the future…. love this

I was hoping that they would do something cool and give all the president characters a mission here, something like “kick congress into high gear” or some other mildly amusing mission.
Nice one and it wouldn’t be difficult to code it. EA do you listen?! (Everybody here knows that sometimes yes, lol)

Also is anyone else having to go through logging in and downloading everytime you open the app cause it is really annoying and causing me to play less
Fireworks, it’s quite nice, but granted it’s not the only thing/person that has a fireworks animation. Still like it though, but then I wanted it anyways…
A lot of players have reported that issue and I experienced it too. The cause was not having enough space on our devices. I think you need to have about 4GB free although it seemed to vary a little depending on the device. Good luck!
I DO love really BIG buildings with no purpose, I may pick this up if I have donuts at the end of the event.
Does anyone know if the Lincoln memorial is ever coming back in store ? It will fit well in my Washington dc section 🙂
Only EA knows the answer to that. But i can tell you it’s come back a few times already…so you just have to wait and see (usually in February and/or July)

I got it. Love the design but it is. MASSIVE. it does not fit in well with other buildings. I have buyers remorse. Should have waited for the review.
Bought it, but in hindsight it is one that I could have done without…
I actually just moved a bunch of stuff out of my “olde Springfield” and was waiting for government/financial looking buildings to create a new downtown. Exactly what I was hoping for.
Indeed, I’m going to change layout so that there’s Springfield, SH, and then a stretch of road (with farms, national parks, Rigelian colony) before the traveler reaches Capital City (where the airport will be moved).
