Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
So something EA’s been slowly rolling out over the last year or so is this new bonus for actually spending cash on donuts. (instead of just farming them) Where they attach a premium, limited-time, character to one of the donut bundles in addition to bonus donuts.
This time around we’re being offered Hans Mechman, a FULL character, for a tray of 132 donuts. While it’s hard for me to sit here and tell you if you should or shouldn’t spend actual cash on the game (spoiler, I think you should always spend at least a small amount…even if it’s $.99/year on the game if it brings you joy and you want to see it continue) I thought I’d do a quick breakdown of Mechman, his tasks and other details you may be curious about.
So let’s consider this an abbreviated Should I Buy….

So what is the deal? When you can find it in the Currency Tab of your Store (also by hitting Get More)…
Basically spend $9.99 on a Tray of 132 donuts and get 60 bonus donuts (so 192 donuts total) and Hans Mechman.
And yes, for those outside of the US I know my price is probably lower than yours. EA only charges 9.99 USD for this package…anything over that that you are currently paying goes to Google/Apple/Amazon for Tax and Duty etc. EA only collects the 9.99.
So, personally I think this is a good deal. You get 192 donuts plus a premium FULL character for $9.99. (no this isn’t Hans Moleman, you won’t get him with this. This is a seperate full character)

That’s pretty much it on Hans Mechman. A fun little character and a nice bonus when buying the Tray of donuts from the store!

The animation is inconsistent. As he turns and changes direction, the hand holding the walking stick changes and so does the foot that is wheeled. Not a big deal, but weird if you watch it.

Got him a few days back and spent the donuts I got on more mystery boxes that added to my bonus percentage. I’m a happy camper 🙂
Even though I make an obscene amount of donuts by KEM farming, (which I learned to do by reading this site) I’ll gladly throw ten bucks at this to support the game.
I mean I’ve been playing your list this game almost every day for over 4 years. It’s brought me a ton of joy.
What sucks is he’s another character that gravitates toward the old West roads. No matter how often i relocate these guys…..they keep going back there! Him….Nessy…..Parson…..the list goes on. Lol. I finally just put down a dirt road today. You should have seen them all scatter! Now him and the others are all over my Springfield. 😊
The Street Sweeper NPC loves dirt roads too!
I finally replaced all my dirt/sidewalk roads with just strips of dirt…doesn’t change the “ambience” much and I got all my critters back wandering the streets. Would be nice if they could put out a patch for the problem…it’s silly not to be able to use one of the road options because of it.
Don’t need the donuts, but I do need to be more supportive of the game, sooo….this seemed like a pretty good way to send a little cash to EA. Will probably start buying donuts occasionally just for the good karma…and the goodies, of course😁.
Is he a temporary character ? If so do you know when he’s leaving the shop ? To know if I’ve got time to think about it…

I don’t need the donuts but I feel the need to complete all the character sets so I got him!
What’s not to love about a giant old dude robot wandering around my town…
I honestly don’t mind spending money on a game I love! ♥
If I buy this (semi- freemium player but I love Hans), I’ll have enough donuts for Moe’s Express or BARNEY!
Never usually build up this many donuts before spending.
Which way would you guys go – fellow tappers?
I’d probably say Moe’s Express since it comes with 2 characters. I feel like Barney tends to go on sale or is put into mystery boxes more often since he’s been around forever. You might be able to catch a good deal on that in the future.
I’d get Moe’s Express since it’s limited. You can always pick up Barney later.
Agreed, buy Moe’s Express now and wait for Barney, especially if he comes on sale with an extra skin like Astronaut Barney (great outdoor tasks!) or Plow King Barney.
Its a good deal, and I will most likely end up getting it. Even though i am charged $15 for living outside US 🙁
Will the deal leave store at the end of the event or sooner/later?
Taking into account that the number of donuts you get is almost enough for Moe’s Express, it is “but tray of donuts, get 3 characters” deal 🙂
The donuts boosted my funds to hook up with Moe’s Express. I wanted the Barflies and a new Moe themed structure.
Hans Moleman meets Steampunk plus he’s still using the cane as a cyborg, Awesome. Couldn’t resist and I used the extra donuts to pick up the Fighting Hellfish. So I get to support a game I’ve put more hours in then many AAA games (which I’ve paid a lot more for) and I get fun items that makes me chuckle which is nice this time of year. Win-Win
I believe in supporting developers in games I want to keep going. So I buy 2 or 3 $5 or $10 a year. So I usually just wait till there is a bonus for extra donuts or premium character / decoration incentive.
This one has really good story and animations
I purchased him for the bonus donuts alone!!!

Is anyone else having trouble buying it on more than one device? It keeps saying I already own this on my second game.
I don’t know about purchasing on different devices but I bought robo Hans on my Springfield. Then I logged out to purchase it on my mom’s springfield as a surprise. This was on the same device. It said I already purchased this would I like to buy it again for free. I clicked yes and it gave her all the bonus premium characters that I ever purchased. Now we both have robo Hans, squeaky voice peasant, and the two founders. She didn’t have them before. The only thing, it didn’t give here the donuts, which is fine because she got the characters for free.
I tried to buy it to my daughter yesterday and I got message – you already have it. Do you want it free? I answered yes. ( I bought it to myself on same device some days ago) . I got the character but no donuts. Checked from bank and no money was taken from my account also.
This is where I draw the line. I won’t spend money on this game (sorry Alissa). But on a brighter note, I congratulate the premium players for their purchase.

I thought it was just a skin too for a character I didn’t have. Now a premium char + skin + 3 visual tasks for hours I most use…tempting, and I will probably buy it.

I bought this as soon as it hit the store. Like you I buy donuts once or twice a year (my way of keeping the game going) and whenever I can get bonuts on the deal is great. Throw in a full character on top of the extra donuts and there is almost no chance that I’ll pass on the deal.
how big is this guy? Is he shrunken to normal character size or suitable sized like bart driving the frink mecha robot with machine gun?
