Should I Spend Donuts on Mountain Man and the Outlands Sign?

-Will Help earn event prize currency (his questline AND task to Assault/Fortify the bases)
-Has two tasks at the Outlands sign (although it’s not animated)
-Amusing outdoor tasks

Cons
-Not voiced (Several of you are telling me he’s voiced.  I play with the sound off so rely on the files to indicate when someone is voiced.  I didn’t see a voice file for Mountain Man, but I’ll trust you guys 🙂 )
-A bit pricey for a one-off character (although cheaper than some others), but this has become the normal price range for combos these days…
-Outlands sign is not animated when tapped or in use.
-Outlands sign is HUGE, very large footprint to fit in Springfield

Final Thought
Premium:
A fun pick up.  He is a one-off character, but his tasks are amusing and he’ll help with the event.  Not a bad buy if you want him.

Freemium:
I’d pass on this one.  The Outlands Sign is huge, it’s pricey for a one-off & the bonus % is nice..but not great. (buy two police cars for way less and the same bonus %)

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player, I’ll be picking him up.   But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).  Also, this is one of those items that will help you earn more currency…so the earlier you pick it up the more beneficial it is to you.  So try to make your final decision before this weekend…so that it’ll help you the most.

Here’s a look at his tasks…

Mountain Man’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Visit the Neighbors 1hr $105, 26xp Cletus’ Farm
Shoot Stop Signs 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual
Live off the Land 8hrs $840, 210xp Outside/Visual
Retreat to his Mountain 12hrs $600, 150xp Outlands Sign
Hermit Away from Society 24hrs $1000, 225xp Outlands Sign

During the event his 4, 8 and 12hr tasks will pay out event currency (90, 180 & 270)

  1. Outlands sign and Mountain Man – for 145 sprinkles? I think we got a winner here (OUTLANDS sign is Big, but I have room next to the Camping Area / Broken Dam (lol), even though I think the Bonus XP should’ve been more!👍😉

Keep On Tapping / Happy Valentine’s Day 👍😀

  2. Not sure why, but I picked him up right away. Maybe it was because of the bonus. His voice made me laugh, and the sign isn’t too terribly large. I’ll figure out what to do with it later.

  3. Got him instantly. Decoration, premium character, plus a bonus percentage…win win win.

  4. Instant buy just for the sign. Character was bonus. Smaller than I thought but still a nice size. It does need an area to fit and I have a greyish area with swamps and walls and grey buildings. So I get how some would find this hard to place.

  5. This is a really tough decoration. Love the percent it gives not so much the fit. Awkward colors don’t match many buildings to blend an area and flesh it out. Tough to fit something behind it that gives it the right height and dimension. I suggest for a more 3D look putting more rock features around it and drop a few trees in back to heighten it. Still love it but still finding it’s fit……

Mountain man himself is an excellent character. The voicing is fantastic and his task to shoot the stop signs is a key trait. The ability to move him where you want him by assigning the task seals the deal nicely. Though it isn’t unique that this happens it’s always a bonus.

Oh while I’m here a tip for the water tower decoration. It spruces up the ugly slag hold if you put it behind and on top of it. The extra height and the scale of the tower is perfect to crown slaghold. Try it out. Almost made me as happy as when I placed scrap city so the sign loses the “s”. I mean, acting like a kid can be fun right?

    Happy tapping

  6. I actually like this episode. So I got it to make my final Outland area I will build in the bottom corner of my town after the event. It will certainly define the area nicely.

  7. Yes… I thought the mountain would be HUGE.
It’s not so big. But still beautiful Fit straight into my Halloween area. I love it. ♥🎃

  8. I bought this but it seems I must be the only person slightly disappointed with the size of the outlands sign as I thought it would have been a bit bigger like the Springfield sign.

  9. With 145 donuts, buying mystery boxes (6 donuts) should yield you about 18% (6 vans, 6 billboards) 4 Lard Lads and other items.

  10. I usually don’t pass on character combos, but this puppy is just too big. With so few new parcels of land available, I have no room to create a whole section for the apocalypse stuff. So….I am sticking to things that will fit into my current Springfield.
If EA would just release a little more land, I could shuffle a bit and be more creative…as it is, I’ll have to pass.

  11. Good pick-up,
If you compare the 4% bonus with 2 policecars it leaves you a character / building combo for less than a 100 donuts , which is a goid deal I would say.

  12. Can it be stored?

    • Sure but then you’ll store mountain man too

      • Ahhh, I see. I was just wondering because it is so big. Guess it’s my fear of commitment of my coveted Springfield space. LOL

      • That is always a question I have in deciding SIB an item. Thanks for answering it in the comments. I guess I need to devote more time to read the comments and not just the article.

        • Common TSTO knowledge among long time players….which is why i don’t put it in SIB posts…Every item can be stored (as long as it’s required for an event) & if an item is attached to a character it’ll store the character too

  13. he’s voiced

  14. Got him. This will make a great anchor for final placement and decorating at the end of the event.

  15. What police cars?

  16. I grabbed this one right away. I agree, the decoration is massive. It’s really difficult to build a design around this object. I’m deciding on moving my Outland area all the in a back corner in the outskirts of my town. I wasn’t feeling this event but with the new content it’s starting to come together.

  17. I think the size alone is enough for me to pass!

  18. The mountain is big footprint but not that tall, so it affords good design opportunities to both hide items behind it as well as make items appear to be at a higher elevation.

    Instant buy.

  19. I dont even own the big SPRINGFIELD sign yet….no deal lol.
P.S….would someone PLEASE turn off the freaking snow machine over hete??! 🚫❄🚫

  20. Actually he is voiced
