Another day, another Mystery Box arrives in Springfield! This time, it’s a Valentine’s Day box full of Valentine’s/Date Night themed goodies from years past!
This is a premium box full of your chance to get those limited-time premium character/building/decorations with a Valentine’s/Date flair to them. By now we should all be familiar with how Mystery Boxes work, so let’s jump to the breakdown of what’s inside…
This Mystery Box is a great way to get items you may have missed out on from Previous Events at a low price…
And…if you already have everything in the box you won’t see the box in your store.
So for 46 donuts you can have your shot at a variety of Valentine’s/Date Night inspired premium characters, skins, decorations and buildings from the past, 60 Donuts is equal to or less than the initial value for each item (although some were initially prizes, so they were free when released)

60 donuts is a fair price for most of the items at least. So my thoughts are, if you have something in there you want…give it a try. You’ll likely get something worth it.

I was really excited for this mystery box based upon the amount of characters and character/building combo offered. Got the following:

Aztec Theater
STEM Conference Hotel/Brendan Beiderbecke
I was hoping to get more of the combos but that’s how it rolls.
So thankful to get Mona but I can’t kick off her quest line with Abe; I just get the Maude storyline. Any recommendations on getting around this?
You need Abe to be free (plus a park
bench) for the bird feeding task, and you need to start with Mona in assigning the task. Do you at least see that feeding the birds or dancing task with him when you tap on her? If not, you need to ask EA about it.
None of those tasks appear even though I have Abe and a park bench or two free. Will reach out to EA. Thanks!
I have the same situation. Mona’s task list doesn’t have Feeding the Birds on it at all. Maude’s icon is showing in the task list.
The Valentines Mystery Box was very good to me! I’m happy with everything I got..
* Aztec Theater (I’ve been wanting that since it was first offered)
* Le Krusty Burger ( looks great near my Eiffel Tower)
* STEM (I just started piano lessons.. so…)
* Brandine (I wanted her the most)
I’m going to try to farm enough donuts to have one more go. Very happy with my new TSTO swag!
Mona’s quest a woman of much importance has still not popped up I have Grampa free and a bench but Mona is missing her twelve hour task and her task joined with Grampa any one know what I should do I would appreciate the advice
So you’re not even seeing those tasks locked at the bottom of the list? That’s not normal.
15 items originally in my Valentine’s box, and have tried six times so far and received only one character, Brandine. She’s very useful for recycling, but still a bummer with all those dumb buildings at 60 donuts a crack. They do produce income at least and I get 32x the nominal XP from them.
I got so far:

Aztec Theatre (at least the teenager now has a four-hour task)

Will not be happy if in the one or two tries I have left, I don’t get more characters. It would be better to at least have a longer time to work on it, I wouldn’t mind having the chance to clear it out but can’t harvest/earn too much more than 60 donuts per day. I suppose this means next Valentine’s Day, more good stuff and less meh stuff will be in such a box if they repeat it. Hopefully.
I added two more 24-KEM gardens to my original 25-KEM garden once I did the math and realized my cash would last a lot longer at significantly less cash per donut harvested than buying the rat trap delivery trucks (even at $14,400 per KEM for the new gardens). I’m hoping I’ll manage to get two more tries with the time and cash left but might only get one try, depending on how lucky I am at guessing. Once I go back to my one garden, I can make almost $1 million cash per day and 6-9 donuts per harvest (am getting about 18 per harvest with the expansion) so I can replenish the piggy bank quickly. Will be tight because I will need to recharge the 5XP collider soon. Then back to clearing out the event’s Mystery Box, three items at 40 donuts each to go.
Update: My whining paid off. I managed two more tries (had to stop harvesting for 12 hours in between to replenish the cash) and got:
– STEM conference hotel with obnoxious jazz playing kid
– Powers House with Laura

I got Swanky Fish (ugh), Rio Days-Inn-Ero (ugh, Howard’s Flowers (ugh), Aztec Theatre, Up Up & Buffet, Motherloving Sugar, STEM Hotel, Fiesta Terrace, Madame Chao’s.
I’m still trying to decide if I should grind more doughnuts for the final items in my game Krazy Kraut, Hootenanny (meh), Power’s House (meh), Shauna (meh), Le Krusty Burger (meh). I only really want the Krazy Kraut… but with 4/5 being characters it’s probably worth it for 60 each.
Whoops, I already got Power’s House in the original list. I just picked up Krazy Kraut and Shauna. Only Le Krusty Burger and Hootenanny to go. I only want Hootenanny, so I’ll have to try my luck when I get another 60 doughnuts later today
Anyone know how to make Mona’s quest line pop up
She needs Grandpa to be free plus a park bench in order to feed birds with Grandpa. Be careful, he has a solo bird feeding task also. So assign the task to Mona.
Oh how I love the mystery box. It appeals that gambler in me. I started with about 325 donuts in hopes of obtaining Mindy and Madame Chao’s. Here’s what happened:
Box 1- Brendan and the STEM Conference Center.
Box 2- Luke Stetson and the Hootenanny Barn
Box 3- Dia-Betty and the Sugar Factory
Pretty impressive. That left Shauna, Mindy, Rio Days Innero, Phineas Ice Cream Shop, and the dreaded, awkward looking Le Krusty Burger…..
Box 4- The Ice Cream Shop….OK, it was bound to happen. I had a good run.
Enough for one more try. I’m hoping beyond hope for Mindy…..

Mindy eludes me yet again.
I feel you! I’ve wanted Madame Chao’s ever since I got the Chinese Acrobatic Theatre – I had a vision of putting the two together. Spent all my donuts on this mystery box, got 6 items, but no Mindy/Madame Chao’s.
And yes, I too got Le Krusty Burger. But since I have a French/European neighborhood, it fits nicely enough into it.
The only other item I wanted, but did not get, was Fiesta Terrace/Jacques. Oh well. Maybe next time.
As much as I loathe the mystery box concept it seems like a slap in the face to those of us that shelled out full price for him in January that he’s offered (potentially) at a 90 donut discount the very next month, doesn’t it? Or is that just me?
Well, considering how much unwanted stuff you have to get in those mystery boxes before getting what you want – I think you got a bargain! Really. Many people are easily paying much more than you did for any character/building combination.

Well, my box only contains the Le Krusty Burger, which I remember debating getting on its first release and landed on “No” back then… Now I’m considering if a 15D discount, ie only being 60D, is worth it…
funny how this valentine’s box is the only time they are offering mostly female characters… how are they even specifically related to vday? tsto is one of the most weirdly/offensively gendered games i’ve ever come across.
I really want Brandine I wish I could just buy her for original price 🙁 I always have the worst luck with these things
I pretty much had all the prizes offered in the VDB, basically a 50/50 shot at getting a character.
Of course I get the Swanky Fish……. There’s a reason I never bother with these!

Decided to take a shot at the box, which I almost never do. I got my least wanted item (Rio Days Inn). Well good to know my luck is still horrible and now I hate myself for wasting donuts.
Could only really afford one stab at the box. Received Power’s house & Laura !

I bought a lot of donuts just for this… Got a lot of buildings a characters much cheaper, it’s totally worth it! I got Mindy, Jacques, Swanky Fish, Howard’s Flowers (love that building), Laura Powers, Becky, Diabetty and Luke
56% of getting a character with 180 donuts but of course I got Howard’s flowers and rio days first 😒 luckily last try got Brendan. Now no more donuts 😢
I got Mona but the quest A Woman of Much Importance didn’t pop up, and I can’t send her on the 8hr task to feed the birds

You might need Grampa to start it.
I remember her questline doing tasks with Grampa.
Got grandpa, do I need a building or something else? I got a two part quest involving Maude Flanders with Mona thats it
I have Mona and you need Grandpa Simpson to be free plus a park bench for them to feed birds together. Don’t remember a quest so can’t help with that. But maybe a quest isn’t attached to Mona from the box?
Make sure you start the bird feeding task with Mona while Grandpa is free and let her pull him into it with her. Grandpa has a bird-feeding task by himself (without Mona) also.
Mona doesn’t have a feed the bird task. I have a bench and I stored the retirement home and put it back out. Still no questline. Has anyone figured it out?
This has got to be a glitch that only EA can fix. I’ve had Mona for ages and am always sending her off with Grandpa with no trouble. I can’t remember about any quest needed to trigger those tasks, so can’t help with that. I would suggest contacting EA, this really doesn’t sound right.
I had 5 characters and 5 buildings in the box. My first 4 trys were all buildings. Ugh. (I’ve been pretty lucky with the other mystery boxes, so I guess I was due for a bad run)
I had 16 available for me.
1st try: Madame Chao’s and Mindy, Yay!
2nd try: Hootenanny Barn and Luke Stetson.
Now I need 20 more donuts so I can try for a third. Not bad considering I was hoping for Mindy and Brandine!
3rd try: Laura Powers!
