Where Did THAT Come From – Water Baron Burns, Pita, Peta, Battle Dome, Bagpipe Bus, and Hans Mechman!

Safi here, giving Wookiee a hand with these WDTCF. With WDTCF being a staple of TSTO Addicts, I’ll try to keep as true to the format as possible (by which I mean I’ll copy and paste one of Wookiee’s posts and just change the necessary info). Hope I make the Wookster proud. Enjoy:

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

It’s Bart Royale time here in all of our tiny tappable towns and this cute thief named Super Safi who’s always stealing the ladies hearts, could not be more thrilled to have a cute thief join our Springfields.

It’s time for one of my favorite parts of being a reader here at this amazing site. That’s right… new stuff for us to talk about just WHERE it all comes from in the Best. Show. Ever. I’m always a fan of new things even though a lot of the coolest things cost precious sprinklies. The 2018 Bart Royale Event started with a battle between the kids and adults of Springfield. And when you think of battling between kids and adults, you may think of The Hunger Games. And when you think of The Hunger Games in Springfield, you think of THOH XXVII. It’s always a pleasure to re-watch episodes of the Best. Show. Ever. For this round of origins, we’ll be taking a look at many of the event items that come from THOH XXVII, segment 1 – Dry Hard:

You have to go back to last season’s 600th episode of The Simpsons to find THOH XXVII and the Dry Hard segment. The Dry Hard segment was a part of the second Bracket Battle to determine the best THOH segment (click for link).

“Treehouse of Horror XXVII” (S28, E04)

After the THOH title screen, the ghost of Frank Grimes tells us that in Hell they make you watch all 600 episodes of The Simpsons in a row.

The Dry Hard segment takes place on a post-apocalyptic Springfield, where the city has suffered a drought, and the very little water there still is very expensive. The fire hydrants spew fire, Apu crushes and sells tortoise water for $50, poor Milhouse and his sad slip and slide, and his dad Kirk spending $100 for a wet diaper. Lisa compared the drought to Chicago Cubs proportion. Ironically the cubs would end their 108 year World Series drought just 2 days after Halloween.

Mr. Burns, aka Water Baron Burns, who controls all the water in the town and spends it frivolously, makes an announcement to them, saying that a child from each neighborhood (including Nevergreen Terrace, Thirsty Pines, Despair Heights, and Dusty Springfield) has to participate in a gladiator-like battle, and the winner will be awarded a day at Burns’ reservoir.

Lisa is the selected child from the Nevergreen Terrace neighborhood, and she soon meets her coach, Homish. In the battle, Ralph dies before the event starts by getting blown up when he prematurely steps off the starting platform.

Later, we are introduced to Pita and Peta, two boys who manage to enamour Lisa, but Homish kills them. And in under 30 seconds, the two boys make such a lasting impression that they are now immortalized in Tapped Out.

Later, Homish falls into a trap and is surrounded by other contestants, but Lisa convinces them that they don’t have to kill each other. She also convinces the population of Springfield to turn against Mr. Burns. They free all the kids from the Battle Dome and along with the Bagpipe Bus and Hans Mechman, destroy Burns’ reservoir, which they immediately regret as the water was completely wasted. However, the water that escaped the reservoir caused a rain, that caused a flood and later an ice age.

So there you go… Water Baron Burns, Pita, Peta, the Battle Dome, Bagpipe Bus, and Hands Mechman. Did you remember this THOH segment from last season? Did you vote for it in the Bracket Battle? Any items I missed? Splurge your donuts on Pita and Peta? Spend cash on Hans Mechman? Sound off in the comments and happy classy tapping friends.

TTFN… Safi, in for Wookiee, out!

Brilliant post Safi! I love these WDTCF posts, especially for some of the later seasons where I may have seen an episode only once or not at all (I prefer to watch content in unquestionably legit ways, which does occasionally limit my access). This one was new to me, although Hans Mechman seemed familiar.

  2. i know there was a last chance to get items in the store; but i can’t seem to find hans mechman? where is this item at?

  3. Looks like EA have extended the deadline for the event? My countdown says there is 1 day 7 hours left, but I expected the event to end in 1 hour (at 8am GMT)? Am I going mad? Not complaining, can get another round of bonuts in!

  4. I didn’t buy the dome, but I did grab the other items above. Chose Pita/Peta over Ice Bishop.
It would have been cool if some of the ruffians appeared in the bus when Willie does his task, but it is still awesome!

  5. Did Water Baron Burns’ Mansion also appear in this episode or is it something that EA have designed themselves? Thanks for all the where did that come from posts from this event, Safi. 🙂

    • They show glimpses of water fountains in the interior, but I couldn’t see any exterior shots of it. I believe it’s a new original building/design.

      • Thanks Safi. I wondered about the fountains and wondered if they were in the Power Plant or in the Mansion or if the mansion did appear but it was taken out of the episode. I also wonder how many times EA have created an item themselves that didn’t appear or just got mentioned in the show such as Chester Dupree (Bernice Hibbert’s brother).

  6. I hate to say it but I am about done with the game. Every time I go in to play the game the game tries to download the entire game! I have to wait a half hour than same each time I want to play. It is maddening! This event was ruined.

  7. No. No. ???. Yes. and yes. Got the pair recently (as well as the Ice Bishop) and picked up Mechman early in the event.
