Homer vs 18th Amendment Prize Breakdown: Duff Float & Howard K. Duff “Give Out Samples” Animation

Aloha Amazing, Awesome, Aspiring Alcoholics and Ale Addicts,

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “A”)

The Eighteenth Amendment (Amendment XVIII) of the United States Constitution effectively established the prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the United States by declaring the production, transport, and sale of alcohol (though not the consumption or private possession) illegal. The separate Volstead Act set down methods for enforcing the Eighteenth Amendment, and defined which “intoxicating liquors” were prohibited, and which were excluded from prohibition (e.g., for medical and religious purposes). President Woodrow Wilson vetoed the bill, but the House of Representatives overrode the veto, and the Senate did so as well the next day. The Volstead Act set the starting date for nationwide prohibition for January 17, 1920, which was the earliest day allowed by the Eighteenth Amendment. The Amendment was in effect for the following 13 years. It was repealed in 1933 by ratification of the Twenty-First Amendment on December 5, 1933.

That’s enough of a history lesson!

  2. Correct me if I am wrong – I don’t need to collect the whole 420 glasses to get the final prize? What happens with the task to collect 420 beers? (Sorry, I haven’t finished the mini even yet)

    One more brief history lesson…..
A year and a half after men were sober they granted women the right to vote.
Nag, nag, nag – I’m drunk and can ignore it
    Prohibition was enacted.
Nag, nag, nag – I’m sober – please!!! Stop! I’ll let you vote!
    And after women could vote…..
Please, let the men folk have their liquor!!!
    And prohibition was repealed.

    .????

    (I’m leaving now, and quickly)

It’s not your fault, you’re just mentioning what happened in the history and how times were better and nowadays they won’t give you hate here for this, but if you wrote this basically ANYWHERE else, well… let’s just say it would be hard for you to sleep…

I think it sucks, apart from one good animation (which i probably never ever will make happen manually again) , it does nothing, and is rather Hard to do any decent design from. Naaaaah.
