Should I Spend Donuts on the Pompeii Ruins?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Let the heisting begin! The latest event in Springfield, The Springfield Job, is all about pulling off elaborate Heists…well not too elaborate Homer is involved…in a bet between two Nuclear Power Plant owners.

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Pompeii Ruins to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this ancient meltdown to your town…

Building/Decoration: Pompeii Ruins
Donut Cost:
50 Donuts
Size:
10×10
Earns:
3% bonus on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter:
Vanity +200
Can Be Placed:
grass|dirt

Leaves stores April 1st

Pros
-Comes with a short questline
-Earns a great bonus % for donuts spent
-Reasonably priced

Cons
-Large footprint for Springfield (especially when many of you have issues with land)
-After the questline no permanent task there
-Not animated

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
If you’re after bonus % this is a good buy for donuts spent.  However, if you’re short on space pass.  The footprint almost doesn’t justify the bonus %….

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’m passing.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the dialogue it comes with…

Pompeii It Forward
Auto starts

Bart: Let me guess. Another historically accurate landmark.
Lisa: You should be excited! We can learn all about the intersection between public and private life in the late Roman Republic.
Bart: Yawn.
Lisa: You can see mummies who were buried in lava.
Bart: What are we waiting for? Let’s go learn things!
Make Lisa Study History- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Make Bart Read Ancient Graffiti- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

What are your thoughts on the Pompeii Ruins?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed it in your town?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Like the look of this, would fit into my Springfield, good %, pity there’s no animation, will think about this one.

  2. Nearly bought Pompeii, but then saw Shary Babbins was offered! Had to get her.

Been a good week with characters. Getting Kumiko, César, Ugolin, Francesca, Gino, Sven, Cool Lisa…& Shary too!

I now only have 10 donuts.

    Totally worth it 😀

    • Oh, also from the Mystery Box I got the Junk ship & Akira with Happy Sumo! Soo awesome to finally have Akira.

And I meant to say Shary Bobbins above, not Babbins! 😀

  3. Wasn’t sure about it at first, but after I made room for it I kinda like how it turned out😁…

  4. Pompeii also makes falling rubble noise too 🙂

  5. This will go great in my venice/Italian area, once I can afford to buy the land to give me the space to build it

    • I had to store some stuff to make room…seems to be a regular routine now. I’m never totally out of space, but to put something where I want it, I have to choose what to keep and what to store.
At least the game never gets boring this way😆.

      • I’m entering that area too neighbor. Bought the extra land I can afford, and found spots for all this new stuff. But come next event I’ll be right back where I am now scratching and clawing to get the room.

All I really have stored right now is the Japanese Mountain and shrines and most of the Egyptian stuff. I don’t think i’ll lose any sleep if I have to stash away my Pagan Winter Carnival (except for when I stay up to 3am designing like last night), but after that, I can’t see anything I really want to get rid of.

  6. Buy two Jet Engine Bikes at 40 Donuts total and 4% bonus.

    • I had to double check my memory*… but just for some perspective, the Jet Engine Bikes are 20 donuts each only when they’re in the vault; their normal price is 30 donuts. So whether or not you think this is a decent deal kind’a depends in part on whether or not you’re willing to wait for the Jet Engine Bike to pop up in your vault. (Not everyone has the same content in their vault.) Also, for those of us who already have a passel of Jet Engine Bikes… another reasonable factor to consider might be the fact that Pompeii is actually a unique item. (It’s not *always* about the numbers, after all.)

      * Accidentally googled “Jet Engine Bike” without adding TSTO to the search term… was not disappointed. 😉

    • Yes, but filling up my town with those bikes isn’t very appealing to me. On the other hand, nobody can have enough Snowball ice statues! So I did load up with a small army of those at net 19 donuts per 2% bonus last winter.

I like the look of the ruins, so I got it. Each to his or her own.

  7. Bought this for the bonus as soon as I saw it. Fits nicely on the outskirts of my badlands area.

  8. TallSpiderCandy

I was debating on this one so thanks for your feedback! Off to spend my donuts…have a lovely day everybody! : )

  9. Alejandro Rubio

I know the prices have been around this one on % bonus, but I normally only buy at 0.1% per donut, like Snowball II Snowcat at 20 donuts for 2%. Maybe it’s just me, but this looks super expensive to my free-to-play eyes hahaha

  10. I know this is going to be quite Off-Topic, but I just saw our Lord and Savior himself up for sale in the Heavenly Swing Set. Should I get him?

  11. I`m getting this for the % ~ just a few donuts away!

  12. I like this decoration for the bonus and it looks great in my western dirt area 🤠

  13. I snapped it up instantly for the percentage boost. Looks great on dirt. I’m pleased.
Off topic: any more mystery boxes coming for this event?

    • Yes but not until Mid April

      • Thanks!!

      • That will inspire me to keep harvesting donuts for the next box. I just almost cleaned out the Asian mystery box from diligently saving donuts since the last event. 7 items total, I just need 22 donuts more to get Americatown/Kumiko. Already picked up Royal Tokyo Hotel, Great Wall Tower (2.25% bonus), Himeji Castle, Mr. Sparkle, Chinese junk (2.5%), and the Dragon bundle (6.75% bonus total for the 3). Only $50 per item in the box.

Love the mystery boxes now after ignoring them for ages. I’m too cheap to buy much at regular prices but am genetically programmed to find a bargain irresistible. My mother was the Triple Coupon Day Queen. So if all the items look desirable enough (bonus or income-producing building/character especially) — I want, I want! This gets me stuff I wouldn’t have thought about buying ordinarily but do enjoy having.
