Should I Spend Donuts on the Returning Hugs Bunny, Shary Bobbins, Egg Council Guy or Easter Trees?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

In the midst of all the Heisting, Jesus has come back to Springfield to remind us that it is, in fact, the Easter Season.  That’s right, with Easter 3 days away it’s time to get a little holy (just a little…it is Springfield after all) with several returning Easter-ish themed items in our stores.

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

There are a total of 7 returning items, either from Easters past or just something to remind you of the resurrection.  I’m going to break these up into 2 different returning posts because, well, it’s a lot of content and let’s face it..it’s still lent we all should be punished a little bit..

Anywho, for this second of two posts, I’m going to tackle the Stand-Alone portion of the returning content…as in Stand-Alone Characters and trees…because when you’re a pink fluffy tree it’s likely you’ll always stand alone.

Wondering if you should add the Returning Hugs Bunny, Shary Bobbins, Egg Council Guy or Easter Trees to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding these throwbacks to your town…

All Easter Items Leave Stores April 4th…

All items can be found in the Resurrection of Rigellian Christ Section of the store…

One other note…later today (10am ET) we should be seeing another Easter-ish item (you can probably guess which one if you look in your character collections for this event…).  I’ll have a SIB post up for that combo tomorrow (Friday) morning.  I want a chance to fully evaluate it before writing it up.  You’ll need 150 donuts for that combo, if you want it…

Item: Hugs Bunny
Cost: 100 Donuts
Previous Post: Should I Buy
What Does It Do: Stand-alone Premium character.  Full set of tasks (amusing ones) that pay at a premium rate.
My Opinion On It Now:
I’ve always liked Hugs.  His joint task with Homer is still one of my favorites.  BUT last year he was only 70 donuts (although in 2015 he was 100…).  I like him much more at the lower price, 100 donuts is steep for a Stand-Alone.  If you REALLY want him grab him, otherwise pass at that price point.

Item: Shary Bobbins
Cost: 125 Donuts
Previous Post: Should I Buy
What Does It Do: Stand-Alone premium character.  Full set of tasks, pay at a premium rate.
My Opinion On It Now:
I’ve always loved Shary.  With the struggles of Easter 2014, I always say to buy her when she comes into the store.  But I will say, last year she had a rebate (a small one, but a rebate nonetheless) and she was 110 Donuts.  Obviously, 110 is a better price than 125, but it’s not a significant difference.  I still say get Shary if you haven’t already.

Item: Egg Council Guy
Cost:
  40 Donuts
Previous Post: Should I Buy
What Does It Do: NPC (non-playable character).  So he’s animated when tapped (falls over), but that’s about it.  Earns 0 income.
My Opinion On It
Now: 40 donuts is standard for an NPC.  If you like it and didn’t get it previously grab it, otherwise pass.  At the end of the day it’s personal enjoyment factor since he provides 0 benefit to Springfield.

Item: Easter Trees (5 trees)
Cost:
  1 Donut
What Does It Do: They’re trees for Springfield, they act tree like
My Opinion On It
Now: It’s 1  donut.  If you like them, spend the donut…it won’t kill you.

What are your thoughts on the returning items?  Will you be spending donuts to bring any of these throwbacks to your Springfield?  Why or why not?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. No mention of the Easter island head? It was in my Easter section for 100 donuts with a 50 donut rebate. Or was that covered in another article I missed?

    Hi all

Not that it would matter too much (because the following offer was in the past), but Shary Bobbins was offered in November 2017 in the Character Mystery Box for only 80 donuts

    https://tstoaddicts.com/2017/11/25/black-friday-breakdown-character-mystery-box/

So those who got her last November managed to save 45 donuts (125-80) …….. I’m glad I capitalized on above deal, because I would not have spent either 110 or 125 donuts on her 🙂 🙂

November 2018 is a looooooooooooong time away, but I’m already anxiously hoping that TSTO/EA will do another Character Mystery Box this year (with new characters of course, because I fully cleaned the box out last year heh heh) !!!!!

    Absolutely brilliant! 😀

  4. I only got the Easter Trees and the 2 Christs in the store. The trees are at a really great price and good to stock up on now (100 Trees for 10 donuts is awesome) in case they re-appear for 1 tree for 5 donuts in the next Easter update. The main reason I passed on Jesus Christ and J. Rigellian Christ was that they were a bit pricey in the first place and thought that they would return with a rebate or in a mystery box but in this Easter update, the only item that has a rebate is the Easter Island God.

  5. I’d love to get both but there are just too pricey plus I feel a bit cheated that I didn’t get them for free back in 2014 😕

I’m getting the egg council guy today 🙂 I’m happy and stoked the ads on this site are not messing with my browser anymore. yay

  7. I got some trees – they add a nice option for landscaping and could look good around the pink of Plato’s casino – I find the current flower/shrub assortment uninspiring.

  8. Eggs council guy makes me giggle every time I tap him. ❤🐰

    I love npcs ❤😍🤖

    • I do love those NPCs too.
I wish EA would reissue the three Sideshow Bob clones.

      • MydadlookslikeFlanders

I wish they would issue me the original Bob. lol. I’ve been level 939 for months and still no Bob. Whenever I’m bored enough I call EA and after several attempts they still can’t place him for me. Haha! Maddening… They can get me the screen like he will now be in my inventory and mess with the Flaw and Order quests but no luck yet

      • Me too! I need them for my collection 😍

  9. I must admit I do like all three but they seem a bit overpriced for a freemium player, so I guess I’ll see I can pick them up next year cheaper.

  10. Get those trees before they leaf the store….

  11. Any chance you can publicise the awful glitch that loads are having. See if you can shame ea into doing something.
The top left select a character button doesn’t work. Also the tap radius for collecting rent is tiny like pre IRS task days.

  12. I was tempted to buy Hugs, but characters without a (solo) 8 hour task are a pet peeve for me. I send everyone on 8 hour tasks overnight, and I still haven’t figured out what to do with the Sexy Pirate or The Parson.

Can’t wait till the 10 a.m. arrival. Thanks for the heads up, Alissa.

    • I believe he has one now. They all do after the unemployment building was opened

      • I can’t speak specifically to Hugs’ tasks, as I don’t have him yet… but regarding everyone having solo tasks: my observations generally match up with what Jazzy seems to be suggesting. Even today, several of my characters only have *joint* tasks at certain time spans; those characters never do their joint tasks when I task everyone at the Unemployment Office — nor do they automatically free up when I pay the zero donuts at the ten percent of time remaining mark… just as I have to task them manually, I also have to go find them and free them up manually. Further, there are one or two instances where one-half of a particular joint character set (such as Bart and Stampy’s 12 hour task) has an independent task which matches the selected time span, (as Bart does) and so that character will do that task… sometimes leaving the other character (Stampy) without any task at all, at the chosen time span.

Of course, the counterpoint is, I’m not really losing much by just tasking the few affected characters separately at the next lower time span, since the Task Manager takes a cut of all tasks that it sets for me, anyway… but it is mildly disconcerting, none-the-less.

        • This has been an ongoing issue with me as well. I hope EA will patch it like they did with being able to tap on things flying across the screen. I also do 4hrs during the day and 8hrs during the night. I’ve been sending anyone with no 8hr task on 12hr tasks instead. I don’t miss those two. Anyone without 4hr tasks I send on 24hr tasks. I don’t miss those two either. Though I still am bothered by the fact that I have to do it. And an even more bothered that I have to send Robo Burns and the two new barflies on their paired tasks that I just sent everyone else on with no problems. EA, make pairing possible in the unemployment office so I dont have to force Robo Burns to play with Puppy Smithers every four hours! Or at the very least give every single character a non-paired task for the incremental time frames. Heck! I’d even accept a premium building that gives everyone that doesn’t already have one an unemployment office acceptable task for all the time frames. I’d pay upwards of 300 donuts for that!

    • The Parson has an 8 hr task w/Rev. Lovejoy and the Sexy Pirate has an 8 hr task w/Marge. You need to assign The Parson and Sexy Pirate 8 hr tasks first and then assign all the rest for their 8 hr tasks. Since I have the Premium tennis skin for Marge, my Sexy Pirate never does his 8 hr task with Marge.

    • I agree with you though about not having all the characters having their own separate 8 hr tasks. I run into that also with the 12 hr and 24 hour tasks. And if the character has a Premium skin, they too should also have the standard 1, 4, 8, 12, 24 hour tasks as well. A few of mine don’t and Number 51 (Premium character bought at a great rebate price) doesn’t have a 12 hr task. Doesn’t make sense why they wouldn’t assign all characters and skins with the same defaulted task time limits.

    • Agreed, eight hours overnight is how I roll as well. My bugbear is when premium skins include some non-premium tasks, usually tasks for a particular category like kids or gluttons. It’s a small bugbear though; definitely not grizzly size.

  13. The Easter trees can be planted in Krustyland.
