Let the heisting begin! The latest event in Springfield, The Springfield Job, is all about pulling off elaborate Heists…well not too elaborate Homer is involved…in a bet between two Nuclear Power Plant owners.
As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Buckingham Palace to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this piece of gated royalty to your town…

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
This is one of those If you like it get it items. It’s nice that it comes with a task, always a bonus for a stand-alone building, but it doesn’t add value to this event. And there’s nothing screaming “Buy it!” So regardless of player status, if you like it and have a design plan for it get it. Otherwise, pass.
Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I honestly haven’t decided yet. I may end up with it, but there’s nothing overwhelming spectacular about it. Honestly just looks like another government building. But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

I got it and I like it, but I like the UK too so I’m biased. Not surprised that the carriage is scaled inconsistent with the buildings, that’s just TSTO. Either loose the details or make the buildings ginormous. There have to be tradeoffs. I was excited to use more cobblestones, but they’re problematic in where they can be placed and what can go on them (same limitations as normal roads). I wish there was a medieval pavement option (cobble or gravel) that we could use.
I bought it on impulse (because I’m English and love my Queen) but pretty much instantly regretted it. It’s ugly and useless and looks so similar to all the other buildings in this event. I’ll make something of it eventually but wish I hadn’t bothered.
I also feel I need to buy the cobbles now (which I hate because fugly).

Gotta have somewhere for the carriage to look impressive😄. Wish the scale was better, but the carriage will stay out for the event at least.

Nice! I also decided that the carriage belongs with the palace, not the tower. Still need a couple of guards, though, can’t leave the Queen unguarded!
Once you’ve completed the quest, there’s no reson to leave it at the tower. Another Beefeater there will yield the same bonus and look better😁.
I like this design, but I agree that it is unfortunate that the scale is off. I might be prepared to devote quite a bit of space to the London part of my town so I will see what I can do about that. 🙂
If I had more room (hint,hint EA), I would place it at the end of a long circular drive…that way the scale issues would be less glaring. Alas… already used my land allotment for this act, so there we are🙁.

Oh my gosh! Where are those super cute townhomes/row homes from? I love them next to each other to make it seem like the English streets. Reminds me of Love Actually when he’s looking for Natalie. ❤️❤️
They were for sale with Manacek, the 70’s detective, a couple weeks ago. I think they are called Brick Townhouses…maybe they will come back in the vault?
You always blow me away with how fast you come up with a beautiful design when I’m still struggling to incorporate things from events a year ago. You amaze me.

Ebron if it’ll help get over your design itch…we’re working on a redesign of our backyard. (we just got Riley a playhouse and jungle gym type thing. So we’re trying to work out the best play to put them and still have a decent functioning backyard) You’re more than welcome to give your design opinions lol 🙂
Well…first we need a moat around the playhouse..a really, really big moat…with lots of really messy mud that will be soooooo fun to play in (and then track inside). Next…hmmm…maybe a real jungle for the gym. You know…huge rubber trees, maybe a mangrove swamp…and lots of creepy crawler, can’t have a decent jungle without creepy crawlers. Ooooo….and great big vines all over the place that are impossible to control or keep cut back. And invasive Bamboo…you know your neighbors would love some of that invasive Bamboo. Also, I wonder if those Century plants are expensive…a couple plants that smell like dead people will keep all those solicitors away!

Has anyone else had issues placing the Grand Canal building 5? I place it correctly so that the walkway is created. It seems to be location specific because when I place the builiding where I am building the canal, it doesn’t want to create a walkway, but if I move a very short distance away and try the same thing, the walkway appears. There are no bridges or pavement tiles and I’ve tried it with no building next to it, but it still doesn’t want to appear. I’ve reported it as a bug, but I’m not confident of getting it resolved.
Yes this has happened to me loads of times too. My experience is you just have to keep fiddling and eventually it will display properly (and then when it finally does – never move it again!). Very weird there has to be a bug, as you say.
While it can be admittedly tricky to place Grand Canal Number 5 correctly, it has also been my experience that there are some spots where, no matter what you do, the walkway will not appear.
Pass – it’s only part of the palace. This keeps the footprint small but makes it a bit pointless.
I’ll have to challenge someone to come up with a full scale palace. Isn’t the rest of it on the sides and the back and it’s MASSIVE? Could this possibly be done with the Act 1 craftables? Lego made an retail architecture set out of the front of the palace.

He already got a new one for this event at the Tower of Springfield. I get they want to make it fair for players on the lower levels but tired of seeing tasks for Lisa, Martin, Lovejoy, and Willie all the time.
Willy also has a task at the Leaning Tower – Perform Leaning Maintenance. Does anyone yet know if his task at the palace is visual?
1, Subsist on gruel
He already has 2 others from this event (Leaning Tower and Tower of Springfield), one at the Shinning Hotel, one at the Mess Hall and one at the Mad Doctor’s Castle. So far those are the only ones I know for his original self. If it was 2,3,6,10 or even a 16 hour task then I wouldn’t mind it but if its the regular 1,4 or 8 hour task then it can be annoying after a while.
Pass. I concentrate on characters, then bonus boosters, then others, and this is so far down the list I don’t think I’ll get to it this event.
