Springfield Jobs Act II- Prize Guide – Boiled Potato

Tut, Tut my good ladies and gents…we are awash in the best of “Jolly Old England” in our Springfields.  The heisting continues, but it is almost secondary to the cool buildings and prizes up for grabs in this Act.

I admit to being a bit of an Anglophile, so I am stoked to get some of the buildings and special decorations that have graced my imagination and book shelves for most of my lifetime.  And if you have to steal a few jewels to get it all?  So be it!

This brings us to Prize #6 – The Boiled Potato

So…I am guessing that the writers and EA are having a bit of fun, poking at the “Boiled Potato” as a slam on the famously bland and starchy diet of Great Britain.  I think this is a little harsh…but, then again, this is the land of:

I linked them to a site that covers these delectable dishes…and I have to say, that having spent quite a bit of time in the British Isles, these are all far better fair than Scottish haggis.  But, I digress…

The Boiled Potato is not a dish…it’s a Pub. Or at least a replica of a Pub.  And “Boiled Potato” isn’t even close to some of the funniest REAL Pub Names…
My pick was the “Drunken Duck” for obvious reasons…

The sad fact is…the Boiled Potato is just another “decoration building” with little to do after the first exposure. (over-exposure to boiled potatoes can cause bloating and widening of the backside).  But…there IS a permanent task for adults.

  1. I’m not a huge fan of this building’s odd shape, but it gives my Cecil Terwilliger a 4 hour job where before he didn’t have one, so I made room for it

  2. The Boiled Potato – a free Building to send Adults for “drink and baby-sit” Tasks (thank you, EA)!👍😋

  3. It’s great that the Boiled Potato has tasks for all adults and funny that no kids have tasks there even though the adults task is to Drink and Babysit or are the adults supposed to be babysitting each other. XD

  4. Had to laugh when I saw the ad placed next to your post…
if that’s not a drunken duck, I don’t know what is!
You seem to be pointing to her, so I guess you agree 😆.

  5. Although I’ve seen the word ‘Anglophile’ a lot since this part of the event started…it still creeps me out. Horrible bloody word! 😀

    • I just learned a new one today… apparently I am also a Neophile. All my life…and didn’t know it! Go figure…

      • You’re really into the Matrix movies?

      • Well, with your Anglophilic & neophilic tendencies, I fully expect you to have a full size Tardis in your loungeroom! 😀

        • I have a full sized Tardis graphic on my bedroom door & I’m a woman of nearly 60yo! I have daleks in my kitchen display cabinets. A Weeping Angel Xmas tree topper & more!

  6. Off topic, but did anyone else’s Vault reset (again) today? I checked it out when I woke up, bought an item, and now 12 hours later it’s a completely different set of items.

  7. I’m doing the Jack the Ripper quest line part 5 and the part “Make Citizens Live in Fear” I had all my people do this 4 hour quest. But I seem to be caught in some weird glitch. When I touch building to end their task I get the money and XP and I see my people leave the building and start to spread out to leave, this is where it gets weird they will stop walking and then run back to the task building but when I touch the building its empty yet the task button shows they are in it waiting to have their task ended. So to try and fix this I go to other towns and then go back to mine. when I go back to the task building it’s as if I never touch but I still have the money, XP and any gained donuts. So I touch again, again I get money, XP and donuts and again my people run back to the task . I’ve done this a bunch of time and it keep doing the same thing. Not sure what to do, although it is a bit of a problem, I do like all the money, XP and donuts I keep getting. For now I’m going to wait till Jack the Rippers 24 hour task is done and see what happens then.

It’s really annoying how robo burns now has a 4 hour task and doggy Smithers doesn’t because now when I use the office of unemployment doggy Smithers because the odd one out.

  9. Robo Burns now has a permanent indoor 4 hr task here….But that means Doggy Smithers now is the oddball out for 4 hr tasks unless you send Robo Burns with Smithers BEFORE you use the Unemployment office. I commend EA for adding a Robo Burns 4 hr building task but they need to do the same for Doggy Smithers as my OCD does not like him left out.

  10. I don’t remember this from the show, but I don’t care. I’m glad to finally have Seamus go on a job when I select the 4 hours option.

  11. Awwwe…the wold haggis of Scotland will be pleased you didnt like it, helps them run wild and run free.

It and black pudiing are an acquired taste

  12. The spotted dick sounds like a very interesting dish

  13. I wonder if EA will ever make updates to include the characters introduced during the Spy, Music and Wizard events in the general Springfielder population. Whenever there is a “send all Springfielders task”, none of those characters are included. The adults from that group do not appear to have the 4 hour task at the Boiled Potato either (and poor Adil and Alaska Nebraska cannot eat ice cream or attend Wizard School with the other kids though they can bounce in the bounce house for some reason).

Anyway, glad to see a permanent task for the rest of the adults. Now people like Grady, Number One and Birch Barlow have somewhere else to go behind their home building!

I always thought that the reason they were not added to the Springfielders group was because they didn’t actually live in Springfield. But it’s problem just ea laziness. 😕

      • Yeah, I think it is just those event character groups because characters like Santa Claus and Kang and Kodos can go on “Send Springfielders” events but the college nerds and Bleeding Gums Murphy cannot.

    • Even though many of them were not really ‘Springfielders’ in the show….they are in own game. I really wish they would be added to the lists (adults/kids).

  14. if only there were more buildings it connected to well

    • But there are! I used parts of the building awarded from the Springfield Mansion upgrades. Stack those building parts next to each other and then add on the Boiled Potato. It fits nicely. They look like old European buildings. I’ve used them in both my Venice and England areas.

    • Admittedly kind of an “odd duck” of a building, but it goes ok next to Darby’s…and I ❤️❤️❤️ the Eye ferris wheel. With a 3% bonus, it’s hard to pass up👍.
