Should I Spend Donuts on Raoul & his Penthouse?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Let the heisting begin! The latest event in Springfield, The Springfield Job, is all about pulling off elaborate Heists…well not too elaborate Homer is involved…in a bet between two Nuclear Power Plant owners.

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Raoul & his Penthouse to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Miami/Cuba combo to your town…

-Comes with a questline (which can wait until the event is over to complete)
-Will use Penthouse for tasks
-Can do heists for this event
-Voiced
-Penthouse has a small footprint, which is nice compared to other buildings with this event
-The penthouse is animated when in use, lights on silhouettes in windows

Cons
-Pricey for a one-off character (although it’s what we’ve come to expect these days)
-Lackluster animation on the Penthouse

Final Thought
Premium:
I like it.  It’s on the pricey side for a one-off, but it’s a nice building (and a small footprint), he’s voiced, he’ll help with the event and for his 8-hour task he’ll use the rooftop of his Penthouse, I really like visual tasks that interact with a building.

Freemium:
This isn’t a bad buy, but there are items that are a better bang for your buck.  So check into some other characters (like Guy Incognito) before making a decision on this one.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I picked this one up.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at his tasks…

Raoul’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Listen to Music Without Hearing Aid 1hr $105, 26xp Penthouse
Be Disgusted with Women 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual

Scout the Beach 24hrs $1000, 225xp Penthouse

Also has 4hr tasks to Drink & Babysit at the Boiled Potato and Try to Win at BlackJack at the $Casino

  1. Raoul & his Penthouse
Kinda goes with last year’s Brazil Section (or kinda belongs in Springfield Heights area) …. I haven’t decided, because the latest Mystery Box is too sweet (me thinks that’s where my Sprinkles are getting spent)! 😊

  2. I got him because he makes me think of Hyman Roth in the Godfather Two. There’s whole Miami/Cuba feel to it. More the character than the buidling though. Building wise I greatly prefer the Swelldorado. I love those Art Deco type buildings, always have. So I’ll be snatching that one up too.

  3. I loved this guy on the show but for me, he’s not worth the price of the donuts

  4. Changed Raoul’s condo…the fountain from Plato’s casino goes perfect with it…and had to make room for the Shelldorado😄.

    • Sorry, I guess thats Swelldorado…although “Shelldorado” works ok for a beach resort, too…😊

    • looks good, but I want to know how you get it designed so quickly??? I can’t decide anything for weeks & then inspiration hits really late at night. I wake up to see what I’ve come up with

      • I’ve found that if I just start something, it comes together much quicker than I expect. I don’t really worry about a plan, I just start…the designs tell me where they want to go after the first few pieces…and sometimes they go in the wrong direction. That’s ok, tho, real easy to delete and try another direction. One trick is to push the building up to the top of the screen and then scan thru the inventory while you can see the building. Things that compliment will jump out as you scroll.😁

  5. I’ll wait to see what comes up later. If nothing better, I may get this.

  6. Can’t come up with a reason they included the First Prime Minister of Australia. However Hey! Mr Prime Minister, ANDY!?

    • Actually the first Prime Minister of Australia was Sir Edmund Barton. That statue does him much dishonour, The Snake character crossed with a Davy Crockett type pants tucked into boots figure is so grossly insulting to Australians & our history.

I’m so annoyed with EA for getting this so wrong! We are not colonial type backwoods people! Not then & not now! We didn’t need a war to fight for our Independence! It was negotiated with England by this gentleman & his ilk.

Sir Edmund Barton was Australian born & a well groomed gentleman lawyer & a judge, parliamentarian, & Speaker Of The House. As our first Prime Minister he gave women the vote – The first Head of State anywhere in the world to do so!
Shame EA Shame to discredit such a man! Especially as the day the game dropped was our ANZAC Day. A remembrance day of National mourning public holiday for reflecting upon soldiers lost in war & their sacrifices for the generations that follow. Lest We Forget! – As we Aussies say.

      • Sorry for the tirade! But how would Americans feel if Australians were the programmers of this game & pictured Jefferson; Washington & Lincoln with such disrespect? Australia are allies in war & peace with the USA. A fact brought home just yesterday here when American lives were honoured along with Australian dead soldiers & those of other allied nations.

It seems EA are employing young idiot programmers who have no idea of history – or that any nation exists outside of the USA.

        • Or…. they just make things from the show. You wanna be mad at someone be mad at Gracie Films, they created it. EA programmers took an element from the show and put it in a video game.
Did you watch Bart vs Australia? If not, you may want to.

          • Justin Henriks

Yes, I think they are just using aspects of the Australian themed episode so I’m not sure they meant any disrespect. I think it’s meant to be light hearted and not meant to be taken too seriously. Maybe in Act 3 we could have seen our towns get invaded by koalas just like how the episode ended!

          • Yeah if you were around when that episode first aired, Australians were pissed. Same as Brazil and New Orleans. I don’t think most Americans would care about being made fun of by The Simpsons. In fact that’s partly why it’s still on after 29 years. Who needs The Simpsons to make a mockery of us when we have Washington?

          • As an Australian I thought that episode was quite awful. It would be the equivalent of suggesting all Americans are Southern rednecks. It did have its humorous moments, but the whole boot / kicking thing was stupid. The most “offensive” thing was having Fosters beer – we don’t drink it and you won’t find the stuff anywhere in Australia… I had to travel to England to even see it with my own eyes!

            • I wasn’t implying it might not offend an Aussie just that it’s not EA being offensive. They’re literally taking elements from the show and putting them in the game, which is why i said to blame Gracie over EA

              • Oh yeah for sure. The Aussie episode wasn’t offensive, just a bit dumb. We can laugh at our stereotypes but just hope for a bit more. Stay away from Fosters though 😉 It seems everyone likes to get offended these days – there was even news recently about Apu being seen as offensive (google Adi Shankar if you haven’t heard about it)

        • You obviously never played the game when they had George Washington as a character.

        • Karon respectfully don’t take my post or a statue personally because it’s not meant to be. It’s what the do well.. and I enjoy most. They don’t just highlight Australia..

          As for American Presidents
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVbliFdOuOM

          As for the UN

        • I agree with you Karon, as an Australian, but i do enjoy the light hearted dig at the whole world.
The casual racism portrayed in the show week after week actually reinforces the way Australians think. In so much as we love to have a go at someone and we expect it back.
I’d love to hear your best kiwi joke!
The timing is questionable with ANZAC day being fresh in our minds but there was clearly no malice intended from my point of view. Oi Oi Oi.

      • As an Aussie, I was not at all offended by this.

The Simpsons depictions of foreign countries usually takes the stereotypical angle for humour. In Australia they ride around in kangaroo pouches & the Prime Minister is drinking beer butt naked. And why not! 😀

In regards to Edmund Barton, before the onslaught of ads (before the Sydney Olympics) ramming into us the name of our first Prime Minister…in case someone from another country should happen to ask us on the street…barely anyone seemed to know what his name was. I certainly didn’t.

        Those fricking ads!!!

        • Apart from what I learned in Primary School in the 1960’s; I actually only know of Edmund Barton via my daughter having to play his wife in a school play to commemorate Australian Federation many years ago.

It just seems that whomever designed the statue for our games (& made it such that we had to craft one!) Really didn’t think that it might be found offensive.

  7. Thank you Alissa. Do you know if he is going to be the last premium character for the event?

    • Tracy-1ltwoody920

In a single word – No.
Now, y’all can ponder, is this:

No, it’s not the last Premium Character, or,
      No, I don’t know.

What the heck, it’s 10pm, I’m ready for sleep, and, as always, I’m full of beans.

  8. 12 more donuts till my final hideaway!

  9. Why does the plunder stuff is suppose to be available to win in act 2 and act 3. Well i’m In act 3 with enough plunder to get th British guys phone box police box etc but they are unavailable for me to get. What gives?
