Where Did THAT Come From – Springfield Jobs Act 2 Characters!

Safi here, giving Wookiee a hand with these WDTCF. With WDTCF being a staple of TSTO Addicts, I’ll try to keep as true to the format as possible (by which I mean I’ll copy and paste one of Wookiee’s posts and just change the necessary info). Hope I make the Wookster proud. Enjoy:

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

It’s Springfield Jobs time here in all of our tiny tappable towns and my “job” is to tell you where those characters, buildings, and decorations in your “Springfield” came from.

It’s time for one of my favorite parts of being a reader here at this amazing site. That’s right… new stuff for us to talk about just WHERE it all comes from in the Best. Show. Ever. I’m always a fan of new things even though a lot of the coolest things cost precious sprinklies. It’s always a pleasure to re-watch episodes of the Best. Show. Ever. For this round of origins, we’ll be taking a look at the Characters released in Act 2 of the 2018 Springfield Jobs event:

Nigel is an elderly man who has a bet with Mr. Burns on whether he will break Homer and Marge apart, which is not known to them.

“Moho House” (S28, E20)

Homer and Marge attempt to work on their marriage, not realizing that Mr. Burns and his boarding school chum Nigel have a 5 million sterling pounds wager on whether Nigel can bisect them apart. Homer and Nigel are at Moe’s Tavern and Nigel keeps pushing Homer into breaking away from Marge, but Homer’s love for Marge is too strong and goes back home to her, after punching Moe when he finds out Marge is the “Midge” Moe always refers to. Nigel then explains that he has a way to separate the Simpson couple and make money in the process.

At the grand opening of Moho House, Homer and Marge part ways at the center, and Nigel raises up the bet, betting has whole fortune against the rights to aghast Smithers; a bet which Burns accepts. With the successful, albeit unconventional, help of Moe, the couple gets back their mojo.

Geoffrey Chaucer and Oscar Wilde are two historic figures. Geoffrey Chaucer, known as the Father of English literature, is widely considered the greatest English poet of the Middle Ages. Oscar Wilde was an Irish poet and playwright who became one of London’s most popular playwrights in the early 1890s.

“Father Knows Worst” (S20, E18)

When Homer believes that Bart’s under achievements and Lisa’s unpopularity will jeopardize their future, he tries “helicopter parenting” – that is, he hovers over them constantly.

He and Bart compete in the Plywood sculpture assignment, but when the Washington Monument choice is too pathetic by Skinner’s standards, Homer goes for the hardest one of all, the “Westminster Abbey” model. Homer sees that Bart will no doubt screw the project up and he offers to do it himself. He falls asleep and the ghosts of Chaucer and Wilder advise him to let Bart do it, as he will not gain knowledge unless he does something. However, Homer moves in his sleep and demolishes his model.

Jack the Ripper is another historic figure, an unidentified serial killer generally believed to have been active in the largely impoverished areas in and around the Whitechapel district of London in 1888.

“Bart Gets a ‘Z’” (S21, E02)

When Mrs. Krabappel confiscates her students’ mobile phones, they hatch a plan to get their teacher drunk to get her to “loosen up”. When Principal Skinner fires her, she is replaced by a cool new teacher, Zachary Vaughn, who impresses the kids with his love of texting, Facebook and Twitter. Bart has a lingering guilt about getting Edna fired, and tries to help her. With the assistance of a self-help book-slash-DVD, “The Answer”, she opens her own muffin store – Edna’s Edibles. It’s while watching the DVD of the book that we get a glimpse of Jack the Ripper, as one the notable figures who have discovered “The Answer”.

Arthur Fortune is the owner of The Fortune Megastore chain and a hip playful billionaire.

“Monty Can’t Buy Me Love” (S10, E21)

While on a family stroll, the Simpsons discover a new mega mall named “Fortune Megastore”. It has all their needs and desires. The opening for it has drawn a big crowd; Mr. Burns, who’s taking a ride in his car, is unable pass through the crowd and wants to see what the hullabaloo is about. Once he enters, Mayor Quimby announces a very special person has entered. Burns is flattered that they would notice him, but they are really announcing billionaire-tycoon Arthur Fortune, the owner of the store.

He is noted for several feats including sledding down Mt. Everest and knocking out Muhammed Ali at his doorstep. During the opening of his 112th store in Springfield, he tossed free money into the crowd, saying that he has too much money.

Guy Incognito is a man who, except for having a mustache, slightly lighter-colored muzzle and an unusual accent, looks and sounds exactly like Homer.

“Fear of Flying” (S06, E11)

Guy Incognito had the misfortune to visit Moe’s Tavern right after Homer had been banned from the establishment. Guy walked in and politely ordered a drink. His speech resembled a poor American imitation of a foreign accent, and he had the look of Homer Simpson in disguise with a fake mustache.

Observant of Guy’s uncanny similarity to Homer, and apparently not convinced by his awkward accent, Moe understandably addressed him as “Homer” and told him to leave. Guy replied, “Who is Homer?” and introduced himself as Guy Incognito. Now totally unconvinced by his name and persona, Moe and his customers beat Guy up and tossed him outside knocking him out cold. Homer happened to be walking by and was astounded to see a man who was his exact double, but was then quickly distracted by a dog with a puffy tail.
