Should I Spend Donuts on Itchy’s Mine Field?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s event time in Springfield!  With the launch of Itchy and Scratchy Land summer can officially begin for the residents of our pocket-sized towns!  Of course, an all-new event means a new opportunity for EA to add new premium items to our stores!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Itchy’s Mine Field to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this death spot obstacle course to your town…

Building/Decoration: Itchy’s Mine Field
Donut Cost: 100 Donuts
Size:
9×7
Earns:
120  /4hrs, after the event is should earn cash/xp
Conform-O-Meter:
Vanity +100
Can Be Placed:
grass|dirt|pavement|boardwalk|pier

Leaves stores July 11th

Pros
-Comes with a short questline
-Earns a decent amount of event currency every 4hrs
-Animated when in use, kid runs through it

Cons
-Expensive
-After questline there are no tasks there (no way to get the animation to work)

Final Thought
Premium:
This is one of those If you like it get it items.  It’s not necessary for the event itself, you should have no issues completing it with regular gameplay without this item.  It’s kind of cool looking, but it is pretty pricey for what it is/does.  So if you like it, get it.  Otherwise, pass.

Freemium:
Freemium players should avoid this one.  Too expensive for what it is/does so don’t fall into the mine trap…

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’ll be passing.  I don’t care too much about the event currency earning potential. But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the questline it comes with…

Have a Blast! Pt. 1
Bart starts

Milhouse: Itchy’s Mine Field! If we make it through without setting off any mines, we become Colonels in Itchy’s Army! We get badges and everything! It’s totally official!
Bart: If I’m going in there, I’m blowing up every mine in the joint. That’s the deal.
Milhouse:
Bart: Take it or leave it.
Milhouse: I’m never going to make officer.

  1. I have the Itchy Mine Field in the yearbook mystery box, since it’s only 30 donuts I kinda wanna buy it but not positive. I’ve already got all the other items in the box on this round so it’s the last thing so I’ll get it for sure. What do you think about for that cheap?? Anyone have any advice or thoughts? Thanks!!

  2. Had to do it!

  3. I will be picking it up as I plan on making I&S land pretty gritty. I’ll also probably pinch off Ebron’s idea of surrounding it with bio hazard walls (I knew that bundle would come in handy eventually) I wish it paid out in crafting currency instead of foam knives.

  4. Does anyone know what the highway tiles are good for? I build some and tried putting a car on it, but nope. Maybe I miss a supercool twist? P.S.: Congrats, Alissa!

  5. Unless I was dreaming…I swore I saw dr. Nick at a discounted price. Now I’m not seeing him at all

  6. Could anyone tell me if the items/caharchters in the summer concert mystery box is worth spending donouts on? Thanks in advance.

    • I believe they are worth it because in my box I have Alcatraaz, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Leon K, Freddy Freeman + Shredder Stevens, and Rachel Jorden along with the buildings and decorations they come with. I intend to buy every character because they originally cost 140-185 donuts each last year during the music event. At 80 donuts, you’re guaranteed a character (or costume if you get Manager Cletus if you don’t have him) each time. I also heard that the items that were originally prizes (Alaska Nebraska, Peter D’Abruzzio, and Manager Cletus) are paying out premium now. So in my opinion it is worth a try and if you don’t have L.T. Smash then try to get him since he helps with this event though he earns at the same rate as the other freemium event helper characters.

  7. I am saving my Sprinkles for something else (congrats on preparing for a 2nd Child, Alissa) – but I have to say it feels like the Craftables are better than the Event Prizes for Act 1 (I can’t wait to craft the log ride and the roller coaster)! 😀

  8. I can’t even get on to play the new event. Every time I nuke Krustyland, it kicks me off the game 🙁

  9. I already decided against it.. figured it wouldn’t be worth it. Thank you for confirming! I don’t have to wonder if I’m missing out anymore.

Would love to have the chance to buy as I am currently not able to successfully nuke KL…….maybe later but I am not holding my breath🙁

  11. Congrats! Just noticed the banner too. So when will this event happen?

  12. Aww Alissa
Why not the first one on Scrathy?
To be honest i bought Scratchy. WIth double feelings because 300 donuts is expencive, but what is Itchy without Scratchy? One hand clapping? Anyway, my feelings about KL being on SF has changed. It feels good now, only i have to redesign.

  13. I bought it hoping that there would be tasks for the kids….alas… 😢

    Such a missed opportunity…

Why aren’t there more event related tasks for kids….it’s an amusement park!

  14. Pass because I got Scratchy and he’s expensive. Building up donuts again.

  15. So I just saw in the banner. Congratulations Alissa!

I’ll probably pass on this one. Do you happen to know if the items currently for sale in KL (ticket as well as donut purchases) will continue to be available after the nuke??
