It’s event time in Springfield! With the launch of Itchy and Scratchy Land, summer can officially begin for the residents of our pocket-sized towns! Of course, an all-new event means a new opportunity for EA to add new premium items to our stores!
As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Scratchy and the Cartoon Set to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding the other half of the Itchy and Scratchy Duo to your town…

Premium:
Yikes, this price is hard to swallow isn’t it? For those of us who actually PAY for donuts (and don’t donut farm), this one feels like it’s at a price point that’s a big ol’ slap in the face to us for spending money on the game. It hurts. Is he worth 300 donuts? I personally don’t think so. BUT it is Scratchy and what’s Itchy without Scratchy? Animations are fun.
Personally, this is a sit on the fence item for me. Odds are he’ll eventually come back in some sort of box for 1/2 price (or more). But if you don’t want to wait, pick him up now.
Freemium:
Freemium players should avoid this one. Stay far far away if you’re a true freemium player.
Donut Farmers:
Why not? Not like you don’t earn donuts pretty regularly.
I have not purchased him yet. I’m honestly on the fence over it. Just not sure I want to drop 300 donuts that I paid for on the character. However, Pat has purchased him. Pat is now a donut farmer, so he views it has spending donuts that didn’t cost real money. And his take was “It’s really the only thing worth spending donuts on this first act. The combined animations are hilarious. And Itchy without Scratchy? Come on…
Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’m on the fence. But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Scratchy will also have tasks to Overpay for Sex on the Beach, Try to Win At Blackjack, Drink and Babysit and Dance the Senor Burns…provided you have the buildings associated with those tasks.

I thought about this several days, and decided I had to have Scratchy. It’s Scratchy! You gotta have him. I paid real donuts for him so that means he was $20. which is outrageous. Every now and then EA gouges us, but Scratchy will probably be the only thing I buy from this event because I am on a budget. (I think EA knows the Cat people are pretty much bonkers.)
300 Donuts! you kidding!
Last month i got that bundle with Duffman and mexican Duffman, thats a building, two characters and an skin just for 150 donuts
Early this year I got Barney the Bowlarama and an skin just for 120 or so
So you tellin me that a single character worths 300 donuts? no way
I’ll pass from this as a donut buyer, and that means that I use to spend real money. 300 donuts c’mon!
Oddly the depiction of Scratchy in Tapped out Seems to take from the earliest Itchy and Scratchy cartoons(in real life, not the simpsons universe) where Itchy and Scratchy were BOTH trying to kill eachother.
Very quickly the series changed the relationship from rivalry to Bully(Itchy) and Victim(Scratchy).

Is there any indication that later in the event they might sell some other items for game-currency? I think this is the first event I’ve seen where is *nothing* that doesn’t cost donuts (red wall doesn’t count as it’s a regular item).
There have been loads of others. That’s why the implemented crafting. Crafting is your “free” option for event items.
I’m treating this as 150 for Itchy and 150 for Scratchy. Since animals are priority and cats are top…
I think I’m going pick him up because I started the event late – I went out of town on Thursday so I stored KL Sunday night and didn’t begin event tasks until Monday afternoon. I don’t even have the helicopter yet! Also, I started five years ago as a Freemium so I don’t spend a lot of donuts. As getting donuts has become so much easier I have a ton of them and not much I want to buy. I figure people like that drive the prices up of premium items!
I opted to buy him. My KEM farm has yielded a healthy amount of dough, so I tossed $5 to the game to get the last few needed to buy him. Have to say his quest is pretty amusing with how poetically ennui he is as he tries to find himself.
anybody run into a glitch where you buy donuts and every 24 hours it keeps giving the bonus amount again?
That happened to me when I bought the SVT skin last fall. I reported it several times to EA (didn’t want them to think I was hacking or something) but I never got a response, and finally I uninstalled and reinstalled the game which put an end to it. First time I’ve ever had more than 500 donuts at once!
I feel badly for freemium and premium players. EA has done nothing but encourage doughnut farming. I’ve been a doughnut farmer for close to two years, and I’m thankful for it. I bought Scratchy and the cartoon set. I would never have considered this purchase at all three years ago. Having said that- I’m glad to get Scratchy.
My advice to all players is to start farming if you haven’t already.

Does farming end after level 999?
No….level 939…and then it just changes.
That’s how it goes nowadays. Either you spend a lot of real money, either you farm. I started freemium, then went to premium (about 150 euro a year). But when prices for went up BIG, about one year ago (maybe less) i started farming too. I know it spoils the game for non-farmers but i think EA left us not much of a choice. And with The Glitch, you can easyly loose a 100 real money if they don’t refund. Until they fix it, i doubt if i spend real money again. I’m not a huge farmer, i make maybe 40 donuts a day, but that’s enough to buy what i want. I skip on many things tho, but, what happens when you have and Itch and you can Sratch it? So yes i have the cat.
I’ve been saving in-game cash for a few months and just did the ol’ XP multiplier and bloodmobile purge. 137mil for almost 1600 donuts? Don’t mind if I do! Still hard to drop 300 at once, but I’m already glad I did; a murderous mouse just isn’t as fun without a scaredy-cat!
Yeah way overpriced, but KEM mining has def affected the Dough-coin market value

Scratchy should’ve been 100 Donuts minus the Cartoon Set (not only is it pathetic that EA would expect you to pay double for a Character-Building Combo that won’t pay out in Premium rate? It’s pathetic offering a Building that serves no purpose in a theme park setting!)
I can wait to see what’s being offered during Act 2 / Act 3 (but I’m not wasting space on anything because all Land I have available is going to Krustyland).
I couldn’t have Itchy without Scrathcy. After all what am I playing for if not to get iconic characters like this one. Is it overpriced? Sure. Is it really worth the donuts? Probably not. Is it one of the main Simpsons characters after The Simpsons themselves. He’ll yeah. Sold!
I bought him, mainly because I had 1400 donuts . had I had half that I wouldn’t have but he is one of the fundamental premium characters in the history of the show , so if you can swing it I say do it as a gift to yourself !
Beeing logged out of the game for more than a month because of the glitch. got a 300 donuts in reward. now EA makes the prizes skyrocket. no way I will be able to keep up.

I have the extra donuts to buy Scratchy, but had I spent actual money for donuts only to know Scratchy comes back at a deal this soon, I’d be super pissed. I know EA’s not doing this on purpose, but this pisses ppl off.

No deal within this event. The bundle I am referring to still requires full price for Sratchy. Read my new post…it explains it better.

I’m technically a donut farmer, but this is way too rich for my blood. I haven’t been farming very hard lately, but also 300 donuts is what I spent on the entire Stonecutter event, fer crying out loud!
