Should You Buy Maw Spuckler?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So something EA’s been slowly rolling out over the last year or so is this new bonus for actually spending cash on donuts. (instead of just farming them)  Where they attach a premium, limited-time, character to one of the donut bundles in addition to bonus donuts.

This time around we’re being offered Maw Spucker,  a FULL character, for a truckload of 300 Donuts ($19.99 in the US).  While it’s hard for me to sit here and tell you if you should or shouldn’t spend actual cash on the game (spoiler, I think you should always spend at least a small amount…even if it’s $.99/year on the game if it brings you joy and you want to see it continue) I thought I’d do a quick breakdown of Maw, her tasks and other details you may be curious about.

So let’s consider this an abbreviated Should I Buy….

So what is the deal?  When you can find it in the Currency Tab of your Store (also by hitting Get More)…

Basically spend $19.99 on a Truckload of 300 donuts and get Maw Spuckler.

And yes, for those outside of the US I know my price is probably lower than yours.  EA only charges 19.99 USD for this package…anything over that that you are currently paying goes to Google/Apple/Amazon for Tax and Duty etc.  EA only collects the 19.99.

So, personally, I think this isn’t an awful deal (although there have certainly been better ones).

So here’s a breakdown on Maw….

-She is NOT voiced
-Comes with a complete set of tasks
-Comes with a questline
-Some fun visual/animated tasks
-Will not Staff rides, or earn any event currency

Here’s a look at her task list

Maw Spuckler’s Permanent Tasks…

Task Length Earns Location
Sweep the Dirt Floor 1hr $105, 26xp Cletus’ Farm
Spend a Fortune on a Vacation 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual
Establish Squatter’s Rights 8hrs $840, 210xp Brown House
Eat a Five-Course Meal 12hrs $600, 150xp Outside/Visual at Dumpster
Roll Call the Grandbabies 24hrs $1000, 225xp Cletus’ Farm

And here’s the Turbo Tappin’ version of her questline…

Tacky Fabulous Pt. 1
Maw starts

Make Maw Spuckler Dig Up the Yard– 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

Tacky Fabulous Pt. 2
Maw starts

Make Maw Spuckler Spend a Fortune on a Vacation- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Reach Level 16 and Build the Springfield Downs

Tacky Fabulous Pt. 3
Maw starts

Make Maw Spuckler Bet it all at the Races- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

Tacky Fabulous Pt. 4
Maw starts

Make Maw Spuckler Eat a Five-Course Meal- 12hrs, Earns $600, 150xp

Tacky Fabulous Pt. 5
Maw starts

Make Maw Spuckler Sleep on a Pile of Money- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

That’s pretty much it on Maw Spuckler.  A fun little character and a nice bonus when buying the truck load of donuts from the store!  And if you’re willing to drop the cash… I think it’s worth it.

What are your thoughts on Maw Spuckler?  Have you purchased her?  Will you purchase her? Thoughts on her questline and tasks?  Sound off below you know we love hearing from you!

In Brazil it costs R$64.90. It’s almost 10% of a minimal monthly wage!

    It must be a pass.

  2. If they had released her a week earlier I would have gotten her, I had a gift card.

She’s not worth $20 though. If they want to sell more expensive packages they really need to make them worth it.

  3. I’m with many others here – I bought Sven & would certainly be all over this one if it was $10 instead of $20. I love having all the characters even if I don’t remember them (like Maw), but twenty bucks is just a little too steep to pay for pixels. I do like to support the game & regularly buy scratchers (& whatever else I can afford each month). But I can’t really afford much more than $10 – $15 a month at this time so I guess I’ll have to pass on Maw for now. Perhaps she’ll come back around. Maybe EA will *hear* what we’re saying around here & price future ‘cash’ characters at $10? We can hope! It’s also difficult to want to ‘reward’ EA right now w/cold, hard cash in light of all the recent problems. IMHO it’s not really a good time to offer us a new ‘cash’ character. 🤪 RachelS

  4. Sven Golly offer was : 1 char , 1 building , 232 (132+100 bonus) donuts for 11€ = Deal.
    Maw Spuckler : 1 char , 300 donuts for 21€ = Pass.

EA don’t deserve so much after all those glitchs and this game is getting old now. We are the players, WE Deserve a better offer than that. 300 donuts for 11 € not 21€ .

So, i disagree with you Alissa , it’s really an awful deal. But at the end , it’s your money, do that you want 🙂

    PS : Hey EA , next offer for 50€ ? 😉

    • Sheesh, you’re right Mikael! I completely forgot that we got the character, the building AND extra donuts. Thanks for the reminder! So it’s an even worse deal than I thought w/no extra donuts & no building for twice the money. Pass! Hopefully EA will rethink their strategy on these offers. Happy tapping all! RachelS

  5. I was going to get the deal when it came out, but as a non farmer I would rather have more donuts as opposed to just another character. Most of my adult characters party down at The Anvil every four hours, so I never see them around town. I would have jumped at the $10 mark, though.

  6. From time to time I do spend real money on this game. Most of the time it’s on gold scratchers. I have only purchased donuts packs once or twice. Since it is so easy to farm donuts for free, their value just isn’t worth the cost. If EA lowered the cost for those tasty sprinkles, I and many other players might be more inclined to purchase donuts more often. The cost for donuts is just too high in my opinion. I like the idea of bundling exclusive characters with donut purchases. I just wish EA would reduce the cost.

  7. Even though I bought a boatload at the start of the event (the golden scratcher bonus donuts paid for Scratchy) and am flush with donuts, I’m still getting this. The Spucklers are major players in my Springfield with their moonshine operation. Got to have the Matriarch!

O I love the bonus donut deals like this, I bought her immediately! Sven Golly has been my favorite deal so far 😁 I LOVE this game and have been leary of investing money into it the past few months with all the rumors of it ending and so many issues (I also got hit by the rollback glitch and lost a lot with only partial reimbursement from EA, just a big ol frustrating mess). I am happy to support EA usually though as I’m a longtime player and adore this game. Just hope EA gets all the glitches fixed, it makes playing so unenjoyable. Thanks Addicts for all you do and the wonderful write ups and advice!!! Have a lovely day! : )

I have only ever done one purchase to the game… and let’s just say Sven Golly(who I think is the mind Controll Guy if I’m not wrong ) is also my favorite buy. 😉

  9. Hello, I reallly find the should I buy posts helpful. Often times, during the end of an event or when a rebate sale is happening or a mystery box sale, I like to revisit them, however, they are difficult to search for. Is there a page where all the should I buy posts are collected or can be found more easily? Thanks

  10. I’d love to pick this one up. I hate to sound like I’m complaining, but I just can’t justify it right now.

Prior to this event, my game was laggy but manageable. Now, it’s a slow crawl to do anything…and that’s with 20GB free on my phone and making sure I’m not playing while something else is running (like music or podcasts). AND keeping the new rides’ tracks disconnected so it’s one less animation the game has to deal with. AND uninstalling/reinstalling the game.

I’m going to keep playing, and I’ve paid actual cash in the past (recent one was on Hans Mechman), so I’m not a stingy player. But I just feel like I’d be rewarding EA for ignoring people who have reached out to them about the lag and other issues (cough, cough, the rollback glitch, cough)…or, IMO worse, given them sub-par support.

Maybe…MAYBE…if this character helped with the event. But they aren’t even giving us that. I could even ignore that if the last few times I contacted EA support weren’t met with people who had no clue as to how to resolve my problem and would rather give me incorrect solutions, and then get mad at me when I told them it wasn’t working.

Not trying to change anyone’s mind…just giving my two cents 🙂

I love both Cletus & Mutant eating out of the dumpster. I was going to fork over the $20 eventually, but now I’m excited to get her. I understand Patric not liking that she’s not voiced, but I play with the sound off because it annoys me when they all talk at once. (I have enough problems with the voices in my head) 😂😂😂

  12. charlottes285

I bought Sven Golly but I’m passing on Maw. Like some of the others here, I don’t remember her on the show – although the ‘get of the dang roof’ call is a classic. I think that cash amount is a bit steep for a single transaction. I prefer the smaller amounts, a couple of times a year.

  13. Ma Spuckler /232 donuts for $10, the way many of us picked up Sven Golly, would be a much better deal. To keep pace with that rate, spending $20, you would have to receive 464 donuts and 2 characters.

I have made the occasional purchase to support the game (SG for one), but the return on this one isn’t good enough. Whether you get 300/one character for $20 or 3000/twenty characters for $20 EA makes the same 20 bucks. I do not expect that good a price, but they can do better than 300/ for $20. Let them offer a better deal .

  14. I covered this with the “Scratchy” post a a couple of weeks ago. Basically…if you did as I suggested…you would have waited to by Scratchy…so you would could…
    1. Get your 300 Donuts that you needed to buy Scratchy.
    2. Get a FREE Character…while being able to buy Scratchy.

Sorry…but this is going to leave the “Donut Farmers” out of the “great deal” that those who actually spend money would get. But, if you do this once a year, you have “supported EA” properly…while getting 2 characters for $19,99 (or the equivalent of 150 donuts for each).

For me? It’s a pass…on the “technicality” that she isn’t voiced. Half of the humor of the Spucklers isn’t what they say..it’s HOW they say it!

  15. It’s $30 AUD in Australia. That’s a lot even if you get the donuts.

    • oktober10aussie

Yep, $30 for us. Though I’m glad to hear that is the actual Aussie amount. I wasn’t sure if it was $30US or $30AU.

I bought Maw Spuckler straight away. She’s a Spuckler! Love her outdoor tasks.

I didn’t think for a moment she would be voiced. I gather it was Tress? Who, by this point, should damn well have been included in the game.

  16. I’m hoping these come back for donuts later on. Maybe for $5. There was a time that it wouldn’t have bothered me. Ever since I’ve been on disability, $20, thanks but I’d rather eat

    • I’m completely with you! Only if EA put these new characters at the lower price point I’d completely sucker for them, but at $20 there is no way in heck I can afford that. From what I’ve been reading is that non US tappers (because of the taxes and whatnot) they would also find the lower price point more doable. I do farm for donuts but I also have no qualms about spending real dough (within a poor persons’ means) on this game and I have.

    • wordsleadmeon

I’m in a similar boat. She’s nearly 30 dollars in Canada (I think it was 27.99?) and I’m on disability myself, so for me that’s two months worth of food for my two cats. I just can’t justify that kind of expense.

    • Josephine Kick@$$

I’m right there with you. A limited income makes for tough choices sometimes. Since she’ll be available until the end of the event, I will buy her, just not right now 😀

  17. OK you got me with “I think you should always spend at least a small amount…”.

As an evolved farmium player I buy every crap EA offers for free. I think it’s always fair to give something back. I’ll buy her, though the donuts purchased would be farmed otherwise in about 5 minutes.

It’s the character I’m keen on (addicted completionist) and last buy was Hans Molebot, the old steampunk 🙂

  18. It is too bad that Patric can’t arrange a deal with EA, donate $20 to his Buyijja project and get Maw. For non-donuts farmers, I guess you can consider you might be able to get 2 more characters and buildings for you 300.

  19. if she contributed something to the event I might have bought her… but at this price point with no use for this event pass.

  20. It seems funny to me that EA “rewards” non-doughnut-farmers with “for purchase” items like this. I’m happy for the premium players who want to pay EA for premium content, but this is not for me. I’m going to continue to farm doughnuts and pass on the stuff for which one must pay $.

  21. For the establish sqatter’s rights task, my Maw Spuckler went to the old Simpson Farm House. I guess the Brown House is just a place holder for those who might not have it (i wonder if she goes to other buildings as well for this task).

    • I love this even more! I have Sideshow Bob’s meet his raker task all around the Simpson’s farm, is there any actual animation there? I’d love that. I wish the meet the raker was longer than 60mins., as I hardly ever use that.

  22. Oh. I thought she was like the previous one that gave a hand with the Springfield Job event… Hmm…

  23. Might ya if she was smart enough to staff rides. for now she is a pass, but might change mind before event ends.

  24. I really REALLY want to buy that $99 donut option to get the giant prize there. But, I just cannot justify $99 when I am sitting on over 8500 donuts through farming. And yes, I spent plenty of money in the early days of the game – back before farming was a thing, or really possible!

    • I sure wish there was a way to share donuts with other players 🙂 .I’d like to farm, but I’m not quite to the point where it works; only 40% bonus and around 150k per day. The KEM math doesn’t work out.

      • Beach hideaway costs 40 donuts each and you can buy 5 of them, fully upgrade all of them and place their extensions as well and there is an extra 100% bonus. Look up Springfield heights hidden bonus for even more!

Increasing bonus percentage makes making cash way easier to.

        • Hey thanks. That’s a great tip. I bought 4 and had enough SH currencies to fully upgrade 3. I currently have a bonus percent of 110. That should get things moving faster. I will read up on the hidden bonus.

  25. I’ve spent hundreds on this game already so I’ve no intention of spending any more cash on this bug riddled game ever again. I can get as many donuts as I want via rat trap trucks, and with nothing else to spend in game cash on (now that I can’t buy land) I can’t justify spending 10 quid on pixels.

  26. I bought this package on Wednesday. Personally, I hope EA keeps doing these deals. I also bought a couple of the Donut Day deals with extra donuts & several others in the pas year or so. Like you, I think it’s a great way to support the game & make sure EA keeps it around.

Still wish they’d come up with a way to pay a (small) monthly fee for unlimited items. A regular income stream would keep things chugging along… maybe even be incentive to put some of their top (read “creative”) programmers on the game!

  27. Jarvis Williams

Purchased her and the 300 donuts, then turned around and spent the donuts on Scratchy & the set he came with. Must say I’m very pleased with the two characters and and building for $19.99

  28. She needs an outdoor “Hey Maw, get off the dang roof!” task and then she’d be a must have….

  29. It’s a definite miss from me. I snapped up Sven Golly when he was offered with donuts, and as a premium player I have no issues with spending real cash on the game. But I don’t even remember this character being in the show at all. It’s a meh from me

  30. Ehhhh. Maybe? I like supporting the game even though I farm. 10 bucks, without a doubt. $20? Not so sure.

And your post says 399 donuts. Shouldn’t that be 300?
