Should I Spend Donuts on the Park Engineer?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s event time in Springfield!  With the launch of Itchy and Scratchy Land, summer can officially begin for the residents of our pocket-sized towns!  Of course, an all-new event means a new opportunity for EA to add new premium items to our stores!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Park Engineer to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this theme park crazy man to your town…

Character: Park Engineer
Donut Cost: 65 Donuts

Leaves stores July 11th

Pros
-Comes with a questline, every questline task earns event currency
-Can staff rides at Itchy and Scratchy Land
-A couple of amusing tasks
-Voiced

Cons
-All of his indoor tasks have no location associated with them.  The character just roams around Springfield aimlessly (i’m sure this will be corrected eventually)
-Really unique to I&S land, no real ties to Springfield or any other episodes

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
I like this one.  It’s not an awful price for a stand-alone.  His outdoor tasks are pretty funny and he’s voiced.  More pros than some of the other characters added lately…I’d pick this one up if you’re in the market for an I&S character

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’ll be picking him up.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at his tasks…

Park Engineer’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Check Operation Status 1hr $105, 26xp Location Missing…
“Fix” Malfunctioning Robot 4hrs $260, 70xp* Outside/Visual
Conveniently Escape a Conversation 8hrs $420, 105xp* Outside/Visual
Greet Park Visitors 12hrs $600, 150xp Location Missing…
Deal with Near Catastrophes 24hrs $1000, 225xp Location Missing…

*These are the payouts for when the event is over.  During the event the 4hr and 8hr tasks will pay out event currency. 4hr-  Earns 60, 25, 70xp 8hr- Earns 120, 50, 105xp

He will also have tasks to Overpay for Sex on the Beach, Try to Win At Blackjack, Drink and Babysit and Dance the Senor Burns…provided you have the buildings associated with those tasks.

What are your thoughts on the Park Engineer?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring him to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Unfortunately he still only has two tasks available to choose from. Come on EA and get him fixed

  2. Just got this in the yearbook. Still no 1 hour, 12 hour, or 24 hour task. Sigh!

  3. Why does he not say, “No need to murmur, Ma’am”???? WHY??!!

  4. He’s an engineer, I’m an engineer… Done deal 🙂

  5. Park Engineer 👍

I had the Sprinkles so I bought him – why? Because after obtaining Bort yesterday (aka the last Act 2 Event Prize) and finding this Non-Premium Character to be so worthless (as in not worth the effort obtaining)? I needed the character that should have been a true Event Prize!

    • Hey…whoa! Don’t speak badly about Bort! Why would you DO that? Oh…wait…you’re speaking about the character in the game. Sorry. I thought you were referring to my real life son. His name is also Bort.

  6. Good buy, eed to get back onto farming, no donuts left after splurging in the latest mystery box.

  7. I will probably pick this up. A while back someone mentioned that the KL tappables are drawn to the KL park paths. Can anyone confirm this? I’m hoping the engineer is too so that when I get around to designing once the event is over my characters will tend to stay in my Krusty ISland.

    • My I&S or Krusty tappables are not staying on or near my KL paths…… I wish they would along with the I&S / Krusty NPCs

      • That’s too bad. I was encouraged to see KL characters in friends towns on the KL paths. I would get the I&S bots in a heart beat if they’d stay on the parade route with the other characters.

    • Carmen (gameid5000)

In my town, after I spend the time to clear the characters on their four hour cycle, I find the event tapables near my race track and log ride. Usually after five minutes there are 30 in the area. Clear them, wait a bit and some more show up.

  8. I also bought this character because he helps with the event.

  9. I snapped him up. Thought the price was great, he helps with the event and completes my I&S land character set. I’m loving this event, I think it’s the best one in ages 😊

  10. I might pick this one up if act 3 fails to bring more interesting stuff to the store. Feels like a character that should be free. I don’t have any donuts burning a hole in my pocket.

Instant buy; but as a KEM farmer, I’m glad I had the extra donuts for the “Springfielders” tasks in his quest.

    • Me too! All new content hits my game overnight(as I’m in Australia) so first thing when I woke up yesterday, I purchased him, then realized I had to send 5 Springfield’s on an 8 hour task! 20 donuts was a good price to rush their jobs & be done with that task & the next 8 hour send Springfielders task just happened to come up at night so I was able to send them overnight. As a KEM farmer you can’t go wrong with this guy for 65 donuts.

  12. Great deal ka-ching! 🖒

  13. I bought him to help with event because I am no longer hopping on 4 times a day like I used to. Just not super excited by the game anymore and I’m frustrating with the lag I get when I am using the railyard. —nope, detaching the new rides don’t affect the lag either way.
    I like him.

    • Try to store the recycling buildings and/or just put them at a different place. Worked for me, I finally got rid of the lag when recycling.

    • I had to stop using my railyard almost completely & I used to use it daily with every character I could. Seems I can send 1 or 2 people on one project (metal, glass or plastic) without hardly any lag, but that’s about it. RachelS

No 12 or 24 outdoor visual tasks again. Again. Again. Nope.If this is a permanent programming choice, and it’s starting to seem like it, EA will be hard pressed to find a way to get me to put any money in the game.

    • Good point. I would have to think that premium spenders tend to be the long-time players that have no interest in clearing 200 Characters every 1 – 4 hours. I can tell you the first thing I look at in these offers is whether the 24-hour Job is visible.

    • And me too! I almost exclusively use the 8, 12 & 24 hour tasks. If I have the time I send a few favorites on 4 hr tasks, but not many. I really dislike it when the 1 hour & 4 hour tasks are the only visuals. RachelS

  15. Thanks for thoughtful input. I was on the fenc bc he’s not that expensive, but I’ve also felt a bit let down by other event-related chars I’ve purchased. Funny tasks=at least something to enjoy, right? I’m here for the comedy, peeps. Appreciate the post.

  16. as long as his tasks compleate like they should I don’t mind someone roaming aimlessly for an “inside” task.

  17. I am surprised that he does not have a task associated with the NPC Itchy and Scratchy bots.

  18. TallSpiderCandy

    I bought him immediately 🤓

  19. This was an instant buy for me. 65 doughnuts for a character? That’s a steal.

  20. Bought straight away but waiting till act 3 starts to do his questline as currently on bonuts.

  21. I’m an engineer. No question about this buy.

  22. Instant buy 😀
