Addicts Bracket Challenge: Most Desired Skin, Week 1

It was four years ago, just after the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs bracket was complete and I was filling out my bracket for the 2014 FIFA World Cup that I thought it might be cool to do a The Simpsons Tapped Out bracket. Here we are at the next World Cup and it’s time for our fourth TSTO Addicts Bracket Battle!

How much longer EA can keep Tapped Out going is up for debate. But what isn’t debatable is that there are plenty of character skins in the rich history of The Simpsons universe still not in our little game. We present to you TSTO Addicts’ Most Desired Skin Bracket Battle.

We created a Bracket of 32 awesome character skins for characters that don’t have a second skin that we believe would bring a smile to your face, have great visuals, could make for an awesome event, or simply be a nice idea for a new Friends Point prize.

These 32 character skins will then battle each other in five rounds of head-to-head matchups, that we hope produces the most debate in the comments below. Every Monday over summer, we’ll post that week’s matchups and your votes will determine which character skins advance to the next round, until we’ve crowned “The Most Desired Skin” on Monday September 3rd.

Quickly, some general housekeeping rules and guidelines:
– The expanded landscape of The Simpsons means there are several characters without a second skin that have had some awesome skins in the show that could have made the bracket, but ultimately just fell short.
– The selected 32 character skins have been divided into four conferences: Boys, Girls, Men, and Women.
– All of the skins are assumed to earn premium.
– Weekly matchups will be posted on Monday and voting will remain open for 6 days until 6pm EDT the following Sunday.
– The schedule of matchups is as follows:
o Monday July 2nd – The 1 vs 8 matchup in all four conferences
o Monday July 9th – The 2 vs 7 matchup in all four conferences
o Monday July 16th – The 3 vs 6 matchup in all four conferences
o Monday July 23rd – The 4 vs 5 matchup in all four conferences
o Monday July 30th – The first conference semi-final in all four conferences
o Monday August 6th – The second conference semi-final in all four conferences
o Monday August 13th – The finals in all four conferences
o Monday August 20th – The Semi Finals
o Monday August 27th – The Championship Finals
o Monday September 3rd – The winner is unveiled
– Should any of the character skins be released into our game over the summer, they will be replaced by the skin they most recently defeated.

Here’s the final complete Bracket unveiled:

Now without further ado, our first set of head-to-head matchups featuring the #1 and #8 seeds in all four conferences:

BOYS

Stay Puft Uter (First appeared S27, E04)

VS.

Mexican Wendell (First appeared S09, E14)

Tale of the Tape: While Mexican Wendell comes from the classic Lord of the Flies episode Das Bus, who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! Stay Puft Uter should win this with more ease than Brazil took to beat Mexico earlier today.

GIRLS

Trinidad and Tobago Sherri & Terri (First appeared S09, E14)

VS.

Tiara Amber Dempsey (First appeared S04, E04)

Tale of the Tape: Another skin from the classic Lord of the Flies episode Das Bus. But this time the combined twin power of Sherri&Terri is no match for the tiara and scepter of Little Miss Springfield.

MEN

Two-Arms Herman (First appeared S24, E08)

VS.

Texan Matt Groening (First appeared S07, E10)

Tale of the Tape: Who’s got two arms and should easily move on to the next round? Herman!

WOMEN

Human Maude (First appeared S02, E06)

VS.

Summerwear Martha Quimby (First appeared S29, E06)

Tale of the Tape: If you don’t won’t for her human counterpart, Ghost Maude will haunt you!

Reminder, voting is open until 6pm EDT Sunday July 8th.

What are your thoughts on this weeks fourmatch-ups? Of the four match-ups above, which was the easiest decision and which was the hardest? What do you think of the bracket? Which character skins would you have added? Sound off below, you know we love hearing from you.

  1. Wow! This is going to be a tight Poll to Vote on …. not mentioned, but I would ♥️ trick or treat costume skins for all of the Kids / Teens that you can toggle on with various Tasks (make it happen EA, cause this would seriously make up for that lame Event during October last year!)

  2. No Sky Police Chief Wiggum? I don’t care who wins this bracket.

    • He already has skins. You’ll have to wait a couple summers for the Bracket Battle that has skins for characters that already have skins. 🙂

  3. Voted 😀

  4. Had to vote for Stay Puft Uter, I love Ghostbusters. 😀

  5. ok here is the question though. Do we want Human Maude as a skin or an actual own separate character?
My problem with it being a skin is typically when an event task comes up it usually only accepts the default character not it’s skin..
Honestly I just don’t want to use Maude’s ghost form between the two.

    • Costumes have been used for Event currency, but it certainly is less common.

      • Still I think we all like it when there is a task that we can send pretty much all the citizens to but this rarely includes the skins. If Human Maude is a skin then I have no interest in ever seeing ghost Maude again

  6. would surprise the hell out of me if human Maude didn’t win this.
I realize it’s just my opinion but it seemed that was the episode that derailed Simpsons from the actually really great episodes.

    • I would argue that’s the capper after the show went off the rails two years earlier in Season 9 with “The Prince and the Pauper” (Armin Tamzarian) and “Trash of the Titans” (relocating SF).

      • And I would argue that there have been loads of great episodes after season 9….no matter what the “critics” think.

        • Notwithstanding the writing or any level of enjoyment, the show grew anachronistic, a victim of its own success. It was developed in the 80s as a family consisting of stereotype Boomers raising stereotype Gen Xers, with character development to match and play off itself.

Over time, in being contemporary, it became Gen Xers raising Millenials, and that simply doesn’t match the characters, though it does explain why the show became more Lisa-centric and less Bart.

Gen Xers raising Millenials fits the Griffins, not the Simpsons.

          • Man…
As much as your theory seems rooted in a defensible premise…I don’t agree with it. Over the decades, Lisa has simply become more perturbed and driven to try to alter her family’s penchant for repeating the same stupid actions. To say that Homer and Marge resemble “Gen Xers” is a slight to Gen X parents. Homer continues to be an idiot as a parent, who rarely, if ever realizes his selfishness (more of a Boomer trait, frankly), and Marge continues to show unconditional support throughout. The primary difference between the the “Post 14 seasons era” and the early episodes has more to do with the early episodes showing deeoer and deeper character development through a single thread, while the later episodes often have two or three themes exploiting those character traits.

And for the record…every generation has tried to claim the Simpsons as “theirs,” while someone (usually a politician” tries to use them as an example of what’s wrong with society. That is multi-generational.

I am currently reading the new Mike Reiss book about the show…and it has given me an appreciation for what goes into the stories. You simply can’t have the “fresh new” label, after 600 episodes. But, to write it off as anachronistic is kinda missing the way the show remains current…and seems to foretell the future, more than being stuck in the past.

            • I believe we agree more than you think. By anachronistic, I mean the times changed and the character traits no longer fit their contemporary age group, a mismatch. Yes, Homer maintained the classic Boomer narcissism, which does not fit Gen X parents.

The character-driven decline in the show, to which I would also agree, goes to the writing.

  7. Is this a competition for characters who don’t already have any skins in the game? Not many of these skins would be on my ‘please add to the game’ list, so I think I’ll sit this bracket challenge out… just off the top of my head, three major skins I want are Pink Chanel Dress Marge, Policewoman Marge and Florida Lisa.

  8. Safety Puft Uter, Trinidad & Tobago Sherri and Terri, Two-Arms Herman, and Human Maude are my picks.

  9. Yaaay bracket challenge ❤

Human Maude has to be the winner 😎

  10. I’ve always wondered why the hadn’t had Maude in as her human character. I guess it falls in the Sarah Wiggim catagory.

  11. This is awesome 😀

  12. This whole things is just to see what the second most wanted skin is because of course Human Maude will be #1.

  13. There is so many costumes but let’s not forget cross dressing Leny. Lol so many.

  14. Alias de la plume

I wish quizmaster homer was on this list

  15. I predict the overall winner to be either prom Artie, or human Maude.

  16. oktober10aussie

    Uter
    Sherri/Terri
    Texas Groening
    Human Maude

I still don’t have Ghost Maude. Think I saw her at one point in a Mystery Box…but with a heap of other crap I didn’t want. If I see her again I will buy for sure.

    • Years ago, Ghost Maude was a Level Combo with a Building purchased in the Store (The Sceance Shop, and yes there is a Task outside the Building where Ghost Maude confronts Homer Simpson by firing a T-shirt Gun at him that’s quite lol worthy). 👍

  17. Most Desired….
Whatever gives me a 16hr job for Maggie.

ok. Just looking at the pics…. How can I not vote for “Stay Puft Uter” That would be great.

  18. TallSpiderCandy

Oh my gosh, I love these brackets!! Thanks Safi for doing these again!! Happy tapping and voting everybody!! Have a lovely day! : )

  19. I’d hardly call human Maude a “skin”. But OK. Whatever floats your boat.

  20. Also bring back Respectable Moe. Still burns me I missed that one.

  21. Where is the Krusty meter now?

  22. I voted opposite to the guesses on three out of four…
